If you've ever played Wu Tang: Shaolin Style, this game at 8:08 was used as a foundation to create it, since it was never released. it was a really fun fighter and way ahead of its time IMO. basically 4 player mortal kombat. great party game for wu tang fans
Wasn't as good as thrill kill turned out to be though. I still play thrill kill all the time on emulator. It's awesome and there's been no game that feels the same. Fuck ea so fucking much for cancelling it. My ten year old self would've loved it.
@Venkman as a wu-tang fan I disagree. Thrill Kill is too edgelord-ey for me and over the top but man when Shaolin Style dropped back in the day it was so freakin dope! Haha
GAMES SHOWN: Steel Harbinger NanoTek Warrior Felony 11-79 (Also called Runabout in other countries) Thrill Kill (CANCELED) Cyber Sled No One Can Stop Mr. Domino Motor Toon Grand Prix Philosoma SIlent Bomber
These ones are okay but nothing mind blowing, I have over 150 psx games in my collection and I have none of those because im not interested in them. Im pretty sure the prices of these will stay the same.
@@Anex952 Nah scalpers have already cleaned out eBay and tripled the price on a lot of them. Sucks because I've been watching a few of these games waiting to get a decent price and now they're going for way more than I'm willing to pay.
Ohhh your THAT guy that needs to continuously point that out when we are all well aware...🙄 and plus he played it safe...he picked Hidden Gems that were ALREADY $$$$ so troll elsewhere.
@@lunarvania8073 I think it's called commenting. That's what I did. Plus, an example of trolling would be if someone were to post an unwarranted statement that directly attacks the individual in the video or post and that wasn't the case.
Also @MetalJesusRocks I just wanna say thank you brother! Your channel and the channels of your friends in the community you have shared, I can’t thank you enough for man. I love it, takes me back to the good old G4/Tech TV days!
It feels very acadey, controls are tight and music fitting upbeat, its very satisfying to set the bombs and detonate them while you're dashing between tons of enemies. Is definitely an awesome game
For me, it all started with snes. Then I got the first playstation. And after that, the first x box. And Iaways wanted a ps2. I got lucky though, I bought a conversion van, and it came with a ps2 lol the pretty much sealed the deal for me hahaha
PS1 and PS2 and the PS3, mostly cause it was these 3 that had the most original IP games and were the ones that had a sense of completion and no pay to win or online only mostly game mechanics, now things are always released buggy, incomplete, mostly sequel focused and tons and tons of dlc that it makes it a clusterfuck to keep up.
A while ago i started playing a game called Power Shovel for the PS1. It was made by Taito and Acclaim (2 arcade companies), and they made this arcade construction game where you have to do some super japanese objectives in these japanese Komatsu construction vehicles. I think the game is a hidden gem when some guy is shouting at me in japanese and i have to serve 5 200kg plates of curry using a backhoe to scoop the curry onto a giant plate.
Silent Bomber was the second game by CyberConnect2, the .Hack series creators. Hiroshi Matsuyama cut his teeth on Silent Bomber and Tail Concerto, changing careers from an illustrator to a game designer at that time. I got to meet Matsuyama at E3 2003 and he signed a copy of Silent Bomber for me in the interview. Great guy, very passionate about what he does. Cool you mentioned that game as it's really an interestingly designed game.
Oh yeah, Silent Bomber is one of my PSX favorites. I'm baffled it never got a sequel or even a homage clone because game's mechanics are unique and amazingly fun!
@@williss1192 just buy a cheap emulator box. They are like under $100 and they work pretty darn good. I have the super console x pro and it works great.🤷♂️
I remember that as well. Ah thrill kill. what a wild game to play though, remember my friend getting that burned on a CD-R from the local game store and playing it for hours. Super frustrating but it was just so damn fun because of how stupidly violent it was
I remember playing Cyber Sled at the arcades in this massive booth. I must have been 8-10yo??? Tekken too; so imagine my smile seeing these *arcade quality* games hit a console.
I love these “hidden gem” videos. It’s alway awesome coming across titles that get overlooked or never mentioned. Especially titles that you’ve personally never played before. I’ve discovered great games from these videos.
@@JohnSmith-wr7lg Haha, the way human Miranda screams in Steel Harbinger's live-action opening FMV cutscene when she touches an alien pod reminds me how Adrienne screams that way when she either sliced by a swinging axe or torn apart by a demon in Phantasmagoria, my favorite PC game and the game this youtuber originally works at.
There are so many games I saw in featured in gamer magazines in the 90's but couldn't afford. It's amazing how these days they seems so simple and low budget. But back then they interviewed the developers and showed images that looked amazing. Imagine what it will be like in 20 years.
for the hip hop heads a fun fact: thanks to the constant delay of thrill kill a great wu tang game came out that basically is the same because they took the unfinished game and build a "rescue your master" story around it.
I would love to see pandemonium in one of your videos. One of my favorite ps1 games of all time! I remember the first time I played it,I was blown away and that game also Introduced me to the love of my video game career! VERTIGO! LOVE THAT FEELING I GET WHEN FALLING FROM HIGH PLACES...
I was lucky to play Thrill Kill on ps1 - pirated version back in 99 or 2000(under she shelf stuff xD) SHit fast edit...Did you play Omega Boost on ps1? THats a hidden gem :D 60fs ps1 game with mechas...
Yeah, I'm with Shane on this one. If you're into camp, maybe Steel Harbinger would be a fun time, but this game is so camp it makes even The Horde and Street Fighter: The Movie look sophisticated by comparison.
MetalJesus: “Hey Reggie, can you check this list out, give me some feedback on it?” Reggie: *Looks at list* “Yeah man, I mean you know, I looked at the list and I checked it out, you know, yeah, so I mean, yeah, you know? So I say go with it.” Haha, I love both of you dudes tho.
It's been years and still no mention of Vandal Hearts 1 my favourite game of all time :( it's super under rated and i think one of the easiest tactical rpg games to get into even in today since sprite graphics hold up well, fantastic characters, story, music and effects. please include it in another hidden gems MJR it deserves more recognition! :)
It was fated, you and I... to meet on this holy PlayStation ground, and partake in the goodness that is Hidden Gems. Go forth and be excellent, my friend! 🤘
I am glad you mentioned silent bomber. I spent 2 years back in the day trying to find a copy. Was glad when i finally did as it is one of my favorite games from the ps1. I also feel it is a true hidden gem as not one many seem to talk about.
Hey metal Jesus what do you think about siphon filter 3 911 edition it's the PS1 game that was recalled because of 9/11 and the cover art was replaced..... Do you happen to own one of these? Just curious on your opinion it would make for an interesting video there's not muchcontent about it so I'm sure it would get a lot of hits especially if people were searching for it your video would pop up assuming you make one.
steel harbringer looks like a heavy metal games for heavy metal fans like spit out the bone music video by metallica....ever watched spit out the bone? it's really cool especially if you like cyberpunk themed power rangers movie
Ah! Cyber Sled! I remember back in the day that the arcade cabinet was never left alone by the big boys. At that time, I thought it was good competition for T-MEK arcade, which was also one of the popular arcade cabinets. If I remember correctly, Namco ported Cyber Sled to the PS1 as a showcase of what it could be done with the then new CD-based hardware and what it couldn't with cartridge-based one (yeah, looking at you, N64).
In my youth, I once found what I initially thought was an old stick of dynamite. It turned out to be a fossilized hotdog, but that was still a pretty fun day.
I remember reading about Thrill Kill, something about congress or the senate looking for a soapbox. Despite like you said, Mortal Combat being common, and games like Blood Omen being around. It was mentioned by name or something, and got targeted as an especially violent game, and got remade into the Wu Tang fighting game. But my question is are there any hard copies, or are they all just ISOs? Since you showed a pile of jewel cases at the beginning of the video, I gotta ask.
First game i played when i got my ps1 was Ridge racer. Upgrading from an Amiga1200 (in terms of power) i thought it was amazing. My fave racing game at the time was Lotus3. Great times indeed. I still have my Playstation and about 50 games, could never part with it. great Vid Jason.
we'll never have the feeling or the games we had at the turning point of the ps1,ps2,xbox,gamecube,N64 era..Too much focus on resolution, frame rates,etc..
One of the few I have seen mention Mr. Domino. Love this game, and consider myself lucky to actually own a copy. Along those lines if you haven't tried Devil Dice ( almost sure you have ) but if not, you should. great overlooked game as well. Thanks for the vids, keep it up.
Silent Bomber was amazing, and was a game I would never have thought about buying had it not been for a solid demo. Never got many ranks above B or C when I played it but enjoyed all of it especially the "chess match"
