Hello No, for the moment also no time to test this kinda tests, the Fan that has a lower Amperage will turn faster, because it can work easy also with lower voltage. Let's say, the Fan that has 1.75A and runs on 5 volts, it will turn with about 500rpm, the other fan with 2.9A also on 5 volts will run just with 300rpm. Hope you can understand what i mean :)

It's about 3-4 times the airflow because the 15 blade can run twice as efficiently with twice the space to move air and twice the size blades

That's right, the 19 blades is good when you like it quiet, so when you know your ps3 is really cool, you can use the 19 blade fan. I've got a video soon about that 😀

Yes, try it your self, i use my self one with less ampare, it runs also a bit faster because it needs not so much power.

@@NSC-Modz thanks. Just recently bought a Cech-a01 for $40 off an old lady. Thing is like new, hardly even used. Replace the thermal paste under heatsinks and thermal pads, didn't pull the ihs. Just looking for a little assurance that its gonna last

UltraNSC I have jailbreak and install irisman and webman and when the ps3 turn on shows webman loaded.The cpu shows me the max 48-53 the rsx the max is 44-45.With these temperatures is overheating?

Gabriele Corossi yup 19 blade fan is better than 15 blades. I got a 60gb ps3 with the 19 blades and while its a bit loud, it keeps the system cool to the touch. I had a 40gb ps3 with 15 blades and it would be melting hot it got ylod after just 2 years

Oni Akuma Yes, i know. Also i think 40gb can manage less AMP on the fan, infact putting a 19 blade and doing a fan test on it will be a loud sound but not like the 100% of the 60/20 gb, and the fan speed difference from 1 to 2 is really big, so it doesn’t manage the fan correctly. I think 60 or 20gb ones can manage more amps as those were developed for 19blades and 15 blades, so full power on the 19blades one can be used.

Great write up, but in terms of noise you want a fan that can move more air while spinning slower. Higher RPM means more (and higher pitched) noise.

@@NSC-Modz Thanks. Good tech deserves good TLC. Can you tell me, if you figured it out - why does gaming on the Phat PS3 models feel that much better than the Slim PS3s? I have all three variations (CECH03, CECH-2503 and CECH-4203) and besides the Phat PS3 simply being faster because the OS is on flash memory, all the same games have a certain smoothness and depth of colour the exact same versions just don't on Slim models. No idea what causes it. Pretty magical though.

He'll yeah, that's what i always say :) The 19 blade fan is very old and needs also more power consumption, so the 15 blade fan is also good for your PSU :)

@@NSC-Modz I swapped out my power supply as well and that seems to have kept the temp down as well. My fan no longer stays on one high setting. I really need to get the GPU/CPU delidded on my 60gb, but I ruined a 80gb model by practicing on it.... I need to just have you do it 😂

@@NSC-Modz hey man, so I ran into a problem today. I received a CECHE01 model today. Never been opened before and had the YLOD, I figured EZ fix. I get it all torn apart cleaned out dusted and all that. Changed the thermal paste ONLY on the top of the IHS, but it together enough to turn it on and it still had the YLOD.... do I need to change out the paste under the IHS ?? I noticed that this PlayStation got very hot at one point because you can see where the metal is somewhat scorched looking on the metal shielding. Do you think there is more at play here than the thermal paste ???

@@TheKANTUS101 there's a way to check out the secondary error code on fat ps3 models but it would require some extra hardware, soldering skills and a PC. Google PS3 UART Guide for more info. I thought I had dead NEC Tokins and replaced some of them, only to find I actually had a dead HDMI IC

Habe das selbe Modell, ich habe es inzwischen aufgegeben sie runterzukühlen weil es nichts bringt er macht wirklich gute Videos, aber sie geht mit den Lüfter ständig auf die vorletzte Stufe obwohl ich den anderen Lüfter drinne habe Luftlöcher rein und den Cell und Grafikchip geköpft habe.... Ich habe schon viel probiert zb. Draußen in der Garage laufen lassen da ist sie erstaunlich leise auch bei Farcry 4. Ja hört sich blöd an was ich schon für Experimente gemacht habe aber ich bin momentan am verzweifeln und echt Ahnungslos....😑

@@Tobinator-dp5zd dann haste die IHS noch nicht geköpft um dadrinter die wärmelitpaste zu erneuern. Meine ps3 ist bei 30% lüfterdrehzahl bei 62 grad, das is vollkommen inordnung.

Und vorallem denk drann die Original Lüftersteuerung mit der von Webman Mod oder einem Fan util programm zu ersetzen. wenn du die original lüftersteuerung lässt, dann dauerts mit besserer lüftung wärmeleitpaste etc. bloß länger bis sie die maximale drehzahl erreicht sony hat ein viel zu hohes maximum eingestellt. die webman mod oder ein FAN util steuert den lüfter alternativ und lässt dne von vornerein höher drehen, so bleitb die ps3 schön kühl.

Wäre wirklich eine Möglichkeit, beim IHS und CELL da sind ja die Temperaturfühler integriert oder? Oder sind das neben an irgend ein Baustein auf dem Mainboard? Ich habe ja 3 PS3 eine Slim A die Benutz ich normal ohne Jailbreak eine Fat Cech-k mit Jailbreak und halt die Cech-c ohne Jailbreak die soll halt die Slim ablösen wegen PS2 Kompatibilität. Ich schaue mal ich habe nur ein Bisschen bammel den zu köpfen, aus angst etwas zu beschädigen. Danke für die Antwort😉

@@Tobinator-dp5zd ja genau die sind im jeweiligen prozessor nicht ausserhalb auf dem bord. Falls du die beiden ihs noch nicht entfernthast ist das 100% der fehler. Lass deine ps3 bloss aus, rette eine weitere ps3 60gig vor dem hitze tot. Ganz wichtig bevor du weiter damit zockst :)

You did the right thing in selling the Phat PS3 and getting a slim. Better cooling might have given you a few more months of play, but any launch model PS3 would have YLODed again sooner or later.

I have to say NSC really knows his stuff but on this one I have to agree with you from my personal experience. I tested this today and the outcome for me was the 19 blade fan eats the 15 blade for breakfast it was smoother quieter and far better performance with zero mods other than a direct fan change the 19 blade ran quieter and cooled better. I put the 19 blade back in the console and boxed it up happily. Maybe I will try that third fan that NSC has in the video he says that's the best I'm not sure what PS3 that came out of ? ..

@@baz7918 Nothing beats the 19 blade fan, you're welcome to try alternative fans from newer models, but the 19 blade fan is what truly cools a ps3 system. If you use a newer fan with a cecha-e, you'll just increase the temperatures. The amp argument that causes heat since its 3 amps, doesn't make sense, it uses 3amps only if it goes on 100%, otherwise it will use less than an amp on normal usage. The bearing quality is superior as well. I as well, agree on most of his fixes and modifications, but the fan choice, simply no. I have done too many repairs and modifications on ps3s and every time I tried different fans, I always ended up switching back to a 19 blade fan.

NMB-MAT BG1402-B045-P00 ( 15 blade fan that shares the same model number as the 19 blade. has the same length short and straight blades as the 19 blade. Draws 2.20 amps. I’m guessing lots of reports saying the 15 blade fans are bad compared to the 19 blade fan stemmed from this. Later 15 blade fans like you said were longer and more angled. I would also like to point out that 15 blade fans got lower rpm motors (thus lower amperage) with every revision, probably because later phat PS3 models ran cooler and needed a less powerful fan to stay cool. So I would say the best fans for the 60gb models are the 19 blade NMB-MAT BG1402-B045-P00 and the 15 blade Nidec D14F12BS1-01H1. To summarize not all 15 blade fans are created equal to the 19 blade fan... :p

UltraNSC I just wish someone did cfm and rpm measurements on these fans. There are lots of myths and rumors about the fan types, unfortunately not much actual data for the fans really exists... so it’s largely a guessing game.

@@DEXXXO and you can belive me to, the 15 blade is just louder, because it runs faster as the 19 blades on same voltage.. the 15 blade fan runs easier, less energy and less vibrations, if you tested anything else, than ok. but i tested already a lot times and the tests was always the same. The 19 blade one is good, but not good enough :)
