I dont know why I got a 14 year old video with less than 20k views reccomended to me, but I glad i watched this. the nostalgia!😍 I honestly miss these times man
Ditched the ps3 for a 360 because was into playstation since ps1 and wanted to switch up. Sony is still alright minus what theyve been doing recently with digital content. Which physical media is king imo. Im still on the xbox one because newer games have been ass lately, minus a dime in the dozen.
@@ondrejbrandejsky5592i think its actually a rear projection tv. Due to its big ass size and the tint of screen, lack of black levels. Cheaper alternative to plasmas or lcds back then but they were massive tvs.
@@vladiminator2000 i am pretty sure thats a plasma tv, i had nearly the same one. there is not even enough space for a crt or rear projection tv in that space
@@buschw00kie i believe that TV is the Samsung SP-R4212 Plasma TV (Power Consumption 280 Watts) or Samsung HPR4252 42-Inch High Definition Plasma TV (Power Consumption 420 Watts) mostly just buy looking up on google Images "Samsung Plasma TV 2006" (this is for any one that's want to know) i feel sorry for the power bill oof I like to add that it could also be one of the DLP projection models that looks similar to other Samsung models. you can read further down the comments
Pre-ordering is definitely a drag. But in this case it was worth it. Obviously, it would be great to just walk into a store and pick up a PS3, but since the supply is so limited, pre-ordering was the best way to go. I'm thankful I didn't have to stand in line! I just walked right into the store and picked it up...pre-paid in full.
Anyone else feel old looking back at 2006 and it looks like how we used to think of the 80s. Absolutely wild, feels like almost yesterday i was booting up my ps3 to play resident evil 5
Nah. Gaming did not change much since 2006. But the difference in games between 1985 and 1995 is super huge and might never be the same in the past 2010s.
I thought this was some kind of comedy reenactment. Nope. Just some guys video from a long time ago. Jeez. PS3 is 16 years old. I just got one 3 years ago.
Actually a lot more people back then had good sound systems as opposed today. These days most people care about minimalist design in their homes and at most use some crappy sound bar instead of a good stereo system.
What a beautiful console. The fact you could put in your PS1 and 2 games and play with no problems (in the first version) was so cool... I'll never forget my days with the PS3.
I had the later console with less HDD space and no PS2 ability. Even had less ports to connect things. I was amazed when I saw an earlier one up close and you could open the lid at the front.
I still have my original fat PS3 (but the revision model manufactured in feb. 2007 that came with a much better 19-blade fan for more cooling) and I still use it daily. I will cherish this console until the day I die. Play all my ps1, ps2 and ps3 games in one system was a godsend
Hahaha. Seriously? You didn't live through the 80's. That was God's decade. Almost everything was awesome. bit of a rough start but damn it hit the road running. Best decade of all time.
I remember getting this as a high school graduation gift in 2007. Like every PlayStation system, I had a blast with this one. Thanks for capturing this when you did!
@@user-wp4jw5it5z it was optional actually. I remember some games like Battlefield 3 and GTA5 needed the install disks for the Xbox 360 but that’s was only about it.
Not even gonna lie, this is a very high tech entertainment center for its time. We didn't have ANYTHING like this in 06'. We were still using standard-def tube TV's up until 2011.
@@Warp3326 They have 2K capable tube TV’s?? Can you give me some more info on it? I may actually want that, because they come from a time before technology was designed to break in the next 5 years. Those old TVs will last you over 50 years and work just as fine the whole time.
@@pistolpetereal 2k televisions are very rare, and mainly prototypes but they existed. I don't know where you would buy one since only like 50 of them were made, but sony did make a 1080p crt television.
Smartphones are drab and boring now. Every year it's almost the same thing. It's still worth it to wait in line for a next gen gaming system, on the other hand.
@Lucas LOL, if you think there are no good games you are simply WALLOWING in self-pity, of course there are good games and good everything, you're just in a boomer/depressed state of mind.
What’s even crazier is that 1988 was 18 years ago in 2006 now 2006 was 18 years ago this year 2024 which is equivalent to 1988 in 2006 time flies by fast I was 13 when this video was posted i remember asking my parents as a teenager if they could get me a PS3 for Christmas and they told me they cannot afford to spend $500 or 600 on a PS3 I only had a GameCube at the time at the time of this video.
At 0:18 I can see sealed copies of Mortal Kombat Armageddon for the PS2 on the GameStop wall behind the Manager i remember my brother got the game the month before this filmed back in October 2006 for the PS2 and he got the pre order bonus which was a poster with all the Mortal Kombat characters from the game and he still has it to this day and still put up in the storage room I was 13 in 7th grade still in middle school when he got the game on launch day and he was 15 in 9th grade just started high school not too long ago at the time in October 2006 the games before the PS3 generation were still being made
I was just watching this on my PS5 last week and it feels like yesterday the PS3 was the newest PlayStation console and at 0:18 i can see sealed copies of Mortal Kombat Armageddon for the PS2 which was the last Mortal Kombat game released for the PS2 and Original Xbox I was 13 years old when this was filmed and this brings back nostalgia I’m 30 years old now I really wish I could go back to those days I really miss the PS2/OG Xbox/Gamecube and PS3/Xbox 360/Wii era both the 6th and 7th gen were the best console generation of gaming for me if only PS5 had full backwards compatibility like the Original PS3 it would be nice i could play every PS1 2 and 3 game on my PS5
Although I do not publicize my life on RU-vid like most I am proud to have my PS3 fat with backward compatibility 2006 model fully preserved, revised and fully functional.
Now it would impossible to do with new consoles. Cause you have some fools buying all the ps5 and new consoles. To try to resell it at profit. And some fools actualy contact to buy it which encourage the process 😂
@@thefox5301 i dont need to research cause i was alive during playstation 3 2 and playstation 1 era. And you always could find consoles at stores There werent that annoying guys buying every consoles in every store and get forced to buy it from them
Bro it is a 2006 video of a guy playing a 2006 released console in the year 2006, how tf is this ahead of its time? You think people didnt film screens before that or something?
If this video feels ancient, just remember that games like GTA 5, The Last of Us, and Skyrim all came out on this console.... you know... the games that have been re-released countless times since.
Now that infinite possibilities of technology have arrived, it seems like nobody is interested in using it. A bit like staring at the library and playing nothing.
Well they came out really late into the consoles life cycle, good attempt at trying to make kids feel old though, if I'm not mistaken the last of us came out in 2013?
The fact that he booted up Resistance Fall of Man ❤️ That was the first game I played on PS3, Christmas Day '06, my dad tricked me into believing "Japan stopped shipping PS3's over buddy so nobody's going to able to get them!" I bought it hook line and sinker as a 7yo kid, so when I opened that up I shit myself harder than almost any other Christmas, then I opened up Resistance/Madden & NCAA '07/Uncharted/Godfather Don's Edition/COD 3 & COD 4 MW, it's mind boggling to look back and see how fan-fucking-tastic games were 😖
@gaelenski_ Literally every single game I listed came out that year 🗿 Edit: Other than COD 4 MW which came out in 2007, so I just simply confused when I got that game.
Depends on which company you are following. There are still loads of solid games coming out every few months or so. Activision, Blizzard and Ubisoft are not the only gaming companies out there (Since these three are known to make games with live service in mind nowadays) In fact, gaming today, we are now spoiled with choices, to the point that it is hard to choose which ones to play. Especially with the rise of Indie developers creating games that are at times equals the quality of double or triple AAA games.
It took 16 years but it was worth the wait to have your vid blow up. Hoping you can read this rn, McCloud, cause I appreciate the fact that you archived my Christmas 2007 experience opening up my PS3 for the first time. First game I played on it was SvR 2008 and I have really fond memories of that.
I hate how I was still basically an infant during this decade. I would have loved to live more of a life in the 2000s. Stuff like this just makes me want that more.
@@redacted90 - I remember getting my first LCD TV (a 32-inch Toshiba) and playing Oblivion and Guild Wars at 1080p for hundreds of hours back in 2007. It was heaven. Funny thing about the good times, you don't realize how good they are until they're past.
@@Zzz-xv1qb I was born that year too, and the early 2010s to me felt like some kind of extension to the 2000s, which is very odd. Despite it being a post-smartphone era, where RU-vid and Twitter were in their infancy, shows like Adventure Time and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic were new and in their prime, and most analog TVs got replaced with digital TVs that support HD and maybe a 16:9 ratio instead of a 4:3 ratio, as well as a lot of channels rebranding around this time (Such as all of the Nick-related channels, CN, and even Disney Channel. Disney XD replaced Toon Disney, Disney Junior replaced Playhouse Disney, and The Hub Network (now known at Discovery Family) replaced Discovery Kids.), there were some artifacts around that time that still made it felt like the 2000s to some extent. I still used a PS2 during the early 2010s, while most other gamers would play on their Wii, Xbox 360, or PS3, which were still 2000s consoles. I also played DS games on my 3DS, as well as my sister's DSi. I would also play games online as well, as flash games still existed back then and were still fairly popular (Remember Super Brawl 2 or Club Penguin?), as well as a good amount of sites still using flash. Also flip-phones were fading out in favor for smartphones, which at the time had a skeuomorphic look to them. Netflix and Hulu were the only two in the streaming wars before others came along (as well as Amazon Instant Video). Everything overall just felt better back then.
I’ll never forget my first night with the ps3. My brother and I pulled an all nighter and tried Project 8, Def Jam icon, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Resistance: Fall of Man and fell in love. Felt like we were living in the future.
What was your favorite game(s)? I have so many ps3 games and have only played maybe 40/250+. Looking to play some fun solo games I might've missed on PS3
@@JihadMeAtHelllo damn mate idk. COD MW2 probably got the most play time out of me but I’ve never actually decided on a favorite. Dead Space 1 and Resistance 1 are definitely contenders but I also think of games like Skate 2, MGS4, Battlefield Bad Company and Resident Evil 5. That generation just felt like the future and every new game that came out impressed and grabbed me. It’s been so long that I honestly can’t think of many stand out titles right now. Just got home and checked my collection in the basement. Little big planet, Guitar Hero World Tour/rockband 1+2, fight night round 3, burnout paradise, rainbow six Vegas 1+2, Mortal Kombat 9, and obviously Skyrim and the last of us are probably all my top games that I’ve owned and played through. God damn what a generation that was
i was 15/16 at the time and it literally feels like just a few years ago, i still consider the game he played (resistance) to be current/new gen, and it is on my list of games to eventually finish. i feel like a huge boomer now. also crazy to think that GTA 5 originally released on this same console.
Sadly none of us here are getting any younger at this point. There’ll be moments in our life that we’ll never get back, but at least we can cherish the memories had in our lives.
If a game is in the drive it will automatically boot the game up when the power is turned on. To get to the XMB, all you need to do is hit the PS button in the middle of the controller and chose to end the game. If the drive is empty, the system goes to the XMB. When you insert a game disc, you need to highlight it and select it before the game will run.
Adio footwear, and one of most refined and solid eras in video gaming. Just two small examples of how 2000s really was the peak of western culture. So many things from then have had a lasting impact, I think it'll always be 2006 in my mind. RIP the good ole days.
So beautiful! when i was a kid i dreamed with buy this model of ps3, finally with the pass of the years my parents gifted me the slim version. it was beautiful years of fun with friends, always grateful of my parents :')
2006 didn’t look or feel like the 90s I was 17 then. I wish gen zers stop saying that. The video is in sd format that’s why they say that. Tech was different cars were different music was different 2006 had a way different feel and style than the 90s. 90s was way better.
@@xavierwilliams2228 am not comparing anything, and there is no objectively greatest 'decade.' It's subjective and just an opinion from different generations trying to act special and belittle the other generations after them. I'm sure the 90s were not a great time for Rwanda or Yugoslavia, nor were the 2000s great for Iraq and Afghanistan. Do you see what I'm saying? There is good and there is bad; no one is special for living in a certain decade."
Is the guy ok? No videos in 14 years. See, this is the problem with the internet: you find someone and now you have no idea where they are, if they're doing ok,
I had to perform open-heart surgery on my ps3 last night to permanently disable the disc-drive as it no longer accepts discs (the white-peg problem, for those of you who know), and in doing so.. this video was recommended, and it was the ultimate memory-lane moment back to the time when I first picked up my PS3 in a similar manner. Fat PS3 forever!.... (until it breaks.. like mine..)
