Hi Tatted. I watched another vid on how to clean a lens. Got that sorted. Then came a sound that wasn't there before. And discs started ejecting themselves. "Did I break the darn thing?" Searched and came across your tut. The screws were a bit too tight causing pressure on the arms as you mentioned. You're a tech dude for sure. Thank you. 💫💪
My issue ended up being the felt part of the front of that metal cover for the disc drive, where it clicks in and meets up with the disc inlet, it wasn't actually clicked in, made the disc hard to insert, the ol' PS3 lives on again! Thanks for the vid my dude!!!!
Bruh, damn kids hahaha with all respect. I guess you can't stop children from messing with tech in wrong ways. 90s kids like me were messing around with the VCR door compartment. In retrospect is something very dumb to do, but can't stop a child's curiosity with technology. Have to explain them though
Thanks my guy, before i pulled it apart. I used the manual eject, right after the disc came out some pennies came out that my daughter inserted when she was 3😂. It ejects fine now.

What sohuld I do if the arms that you said to check if they move freely are stuck? I see that the right arm in the white part have a pin that stuck some how in a hole that under it so the move can be only short

On the first 3 screws you have to unscrew two of them unscrewed with the flat head but of course the last one is way too tight and just keeps getting stripped
At 11:36 the white piece of plastic on the right side, along with the spring, have both fallen out and I can't find a video anywhere explaining how to put them back together. :(
9:41 that's the problem I'm having with my PS3 disc drive. the arms jam half-way after ejecting the disc & won't take the disc back in. anyway to fix it?
the arm with the spring wont move even with the spring and then i bent the spring. is there a tutorial I can find anywhere for the bic lighter hack and a video on how to clean the inner black parts under it because thats where my issue is.

My PS three is still having some problems ejecting the disc but when this first and I thought, putting in a second desk would help but nope that ended up with even more trouble so yeah
Thank you for this great video. I was having trouble with mine after I took it apart to clean. And your video saved me $50 after my disc drive wouldn't work. I must have tightened the screws down too much.
For the record: if you have a toddler who manages to shove 4 dvds into your PS3 while your back is turned, this is the only way get them out. Thumbs up
I tried but it didn't work I remove all the screws from the bottom but the top didn't come off I tried the manual thing the disc didn't come out mine must broken worse then I thought none of the ideas on here work so I just gave up
Hi I have a problem with that white arm in the disc, somehow it doesn't move around freely as it should without the spring, it kind of gets stuck and have to force it to move, how do I fix that problem
Thank you so much!! You just save me and my hubby from wasting money on a new one, with the help of your video I was able to fix it for him, found 3 discs inside! Then had to fix that arm inside with the spring and it works great 😊 now just need the new controller
My boyfriend was working on his ps3 last night and fixed his problem except when putting it back he went to check the spring you talked about on 15:52 it flew off and he doesn’t know how it was before. Able to help?
Yeah the spring is tricky. Here's my suggestion: 1. Don't bend it otherwise, it's caput 2. If you're having issues with the white arm, make sure it's as close to the surface as possible. It shouldn't be hanging high or in mid air. 3. In my case I screwed the white arm and the spring. Good news is that the Japanese thought of that and the entire ps3 becomes easy to work on once you have worked on it one time. Basically put the arm below the black dot and insert it correctly. 4. If you only have a problem with the string, then you have to put the shorter side of it attached to a special place on the white arm and the longer side of the string goes into a black square. 5 watch from 15:00 hope this works for you that's what I did and worked for me. I would say it requires some luck too.
Hoping this works. Over the last few months every once in awhile it wouldn’t spit the disc out. But now it just won’t spit the discs out ever unless I use the screw under the system to force eject it
is there a another way then taking apart the system please! because I dont want to break my ps3 :( If you reply It would be BIG help! somewone please reply!
So I tried playing on my old ass PS3 and the disk didn’t come out so I took it and fucking punched the side of it where the disk comes out of and it works now thanks for the help (the reason I punched it was because I got mad)
Did the absolutely same thing. If you still have issues here's what worked for me: 1. The disk is stuck there and the ps doesn't spit it out, so what I did is I forced it to go out. 2. I accidentally messed with the white arm and spring and broke it, but got it fixed by watching this video and put it back together. 3 I suggest you take your time and watch this video in detail this is probably the best one out there and I also suggest you watch it twice. 4. Don't give up on your ps and try to plan your moves ask yourself "how can I fix this" and "why is this happening to me" 5. After I took the disc out I couldn't put it back in. There was a white pin that didn't let me. And if you have a disk in it doesn't spit it either, I can't tell you the timestamp but the guy also forced the disk to get in the Playstation, it's very weird. He didn't turn it on, instead he literally shoved the disk in I did the same and it worked, I hope this helps you I also didn't realise I had game inside until I saw it, if this doesn't help keep fixing it mine took 3 hours to figure out even though it will take 10 mins if you know what your doing.
What I used to do if that would happen just smack the FUCK out the top of the console and the ps3 would just throw up the disc lol or just shake the console
