Your my go to YTber for the teardowns! Very happy you had this tutorial since I loved your ps3 fat one! Picked up a second hand ps4 opened it up and the heat sink was fully clogged with dust and the thermal paste was gonnnnnne. Thanks to you it as quiet as a mouse now!
DISCLAIMER! For those of you who are not accustomed to computer hardware (PS4s count as computers) replacing the thermal paste IS 100% required! IF YOU DO NOT REPLACE IT YOU WILL DAMAGE OR KILL YOUR Device! The way it works is that while it looks like the die (APU the silver piece of silicon) and cooler are making contact, on a microscopic level it looks like the Grand Cannon, so the paste serves to fill in the gaps allowing the heat to be transferred away from the APU. Without it the PS4 will overheat, shutdown and possibly die. The better quality of thermal paste the better the heat transfer, the lower the temperatures and as such lower fan speeds. A lower fan speed means your PS4 will make less noise. I recommend Thermal Grizzly kyronaught or Arctic Silver 5. For those of you more daring take a look at liquid metal such as Thermal Grizzly Conductonaught but be very careful and watch videos on that ahead of time. I'm only writing this comment because I've noticed that several people here have tried following the video without reapplying the thermal paste and each of them suffered the consequences mentioned above.

Not planning on taking apart my ps4 yet, I do have the ejecting disk issue, but I've been playing games I've downloaded lately. I already have that torx screwdriver for when I decide to do that simple fix. Saw that video first. Then saw this one. Excellent jobs on the videos. Well shot and simply explained. Kudos.

Hey man, loved the video, I didn't have thermal paste, so I'm not gonna use me PS4 until I do, but quick few questions, 1. What is thermal paste for? Like what does it do vis a vis ps4, 2. I accidentally took some tiny tiny silver Philips screws out (watched a different video before this one, it was just about the break down, not rebuild) in your vid you didn't take those out, I can't seem to remember where they go, could you help me out, or should I just take it to a repair shop

Every single video skips one screw, they say put the 4 torx screws in the disk drive but just below the cord in the very center. Every video just skips over it. Idk why, idk if I'm supposed to know what it is but it's a 50/50 shot if it's a torx or phillips head.
great video but i dont know what i've done wrong i followed all the steps again to make sure i had everything connected , i dont if the battery is not sitting right or something but it flashes blue for a second with the sound and then goes off

I probably should get thermal paste I know you don't need to but mine is almost gone and I knew that the tweasers were supposed to be used I did a semi deep clean but I still need to get that ribbon wire in and thermal paste
my ps4 skips blue light and starts with white light, console works just fine but i remember it was starting with blue light then white light did i miss to connect something to motherboard or what can anyone tell my what should i do?
Hi, after assembly ps4 started to lagg , it feels like controler is drifting , its like to have a big ping in games like nba 2k20 or warzone , it never been before like that , i thought its bluetooth connection so i have tried to reconnect but its still the same , any advice ?
On the antenna there'll be 2 solder points. It's likely it was damaged where it was soldered together and just needs to be soldered again, so that they touch.
Thank you very much. I disassembled mine for a jear because my hdmi with 5.05 was dead. Now i soldered a new one and forgot how to assemble it :D. It works again
No never you must because otherway its otherheating and you cant play :/ and only put the thermal paste from the motherboard away, not from the cores .
Just keep going through it until you find the location, that's what I done and I'm completely screw free now and I've also not got my disc tray working but the digital games are, my ps4 took a dump on me about a month ago but I have it all working now apart from the disc tray
fariji Yes. You will kill your device! Go buy some thermal paste! Yo dude I was looking at tutorials and I deasembled my PS4 today and when I put it back together there was something wrong with the connection of my controller, I couldn’t here mic volume and my controller had really bad delay and only worked really close up to my PS4 please help, did I forget to do something
now this is how u teardown a PS4 and post it on RU-vid,not just do it half and then the FXXKING VIDEO END like the rest of teardown video.otherwise,HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO DEAL WITH TWO EXTRA SCREWS AFTER I TEARDOWN A PS4？？？
