Really great video my man. Most other reviews just glossed over the latency issues. 83ms of additional latency is quite bad. That is on top of system latency too. 10 frames at 60fps would be 166ms. I would consider that unplayable. As a comparison I tried the same thing with Moonlight on a non optimal wifi setup and got 50ms additional latency. Still not great tbh, but A LOT better than 83ms. Thanks for the actual real review - unlike most channels.
Totally agree, Not really any new features when compared to others remote play handhelds, but the ps5 controller. Needs more applications for steaming and inability to use my $400 Sony WH-1000XM5 headset 😢😢😢 Thank you for the comparisons
I love my portal. Just got it recently. The battery is about 4 to 8 hours. Had some bad latency issues and lag on day one then bought a WiFi adapter plugged it in ps5 and no more issues. I think you and I are the only 2 that have a portal 😂😂😂
Not true, a lot of people have it. I had to do some messing around and now it works pretty well. It’s not perfect, but it’s fun experience overall. It’s so light and comfortable also.
Your portal plays FIFA/FC24 flawlessly whilst mine has a strange stutter, my ps5 is connected via ethernet, I have tried the changing resolution to 1080p and also disconnecting the HDMI with no luck
@@B8seven damn. I hope whrn mine comes tomorrow it isnt so laggy and it plays good the way others have reported. I know it wont be perfect like actually playing from a console but i heard for alot of games not multiplayer its great but then i heard for some multiplayers its not bad so idk lol.
Hey I looked at some of the comments and it turns out its called the gamesir g8 galileo mobile controller. Eta Prime did a review on it a few weeks ago.
Excellent video. Lots of interesting info via your tests. In my experience, PS Portal advantage is 8 inch screen & controller. Otherwise remote app is similar but iPhone screen smaller + black bars due to AR. PSP well worth it if you use remote play. Enjoy your content, thank you.
I cant stand the input lag. Reviewers keep saying it is only really noticeable in FPS games. Nah, I feel it in every game. Even in the menu. Drives me nuts. I only care less about it in games that don't really benefit from less input lag. Baldur's Gate 3 being one. Still think this is a silly product. Wish they just would've went with a true handheld.
It might sound silly, but if you use it with the tv off, and set your PS5 resolution to 1080p. It significantly decreases input lag, and improves image quality. That is if your internet is good and stable, with your PS5 wired too... 👍
Is it selling like “hot cakes”? I mean sure I’m looking for one and can’t get one in store. But plenty are on eBay and Facebook marketplace and only marked up £50 extra. If they were really in demand the scalpers would be selling them at a far higher price.
But the new iPhone 15 cost the price of a PlayStation 5 and the portal together plus you gotta buy a backbone smh come on man people want talk bad about it lol just buy one ijs
@@TheBean87 honestly my ps portal works fine inside my home and away from home so for me 200$ dollars is better than paying damn near 1000$ dollars on a new iphone 15. I'm not gonna debate on why you should are not buy it. I'm happy with mine that's all that matters for me I'm at work right now using it enjoying GOW it's sad that people will say something because they either can't afford one or don't like it.. maybe it's not for you but are you that harp up on trying to get people to agree with your opinion lmao smh 😂 sad day in time were a grown man is trying to debate on a gaming device
its not really selling like hotcakes they just didnt ship very many. for example amazon shows many they sold now an portal was only at 2k before going out of stock. it also sold only like 5k it's debut week in spain (just mentioned spain because its one of the few countries we get detailed hardware sales). i'd say it maybe sold better than expected, but way too early to call it a hit or anything. we'll see if it dies completely like psvr2 did or continues to sell ok, good, or great.
On PC with sunshine / moonlight I have less than 15ms decoding Time ans less than 3ms network latency , buy a 12" tablet with a gamesir g8 ( less than250€)
the controller should be arount 10 miliseconds true cable and 4 times as fast with bluetooth full frame human vissuals are 11 herz, withdetail vission being between say 90 to 140 ,, the eyeball registers 1000 fps but the brain registers at a difurent speed. Whats the refresh rate on the screen ?
Playing at one third brightness and blue bars turned off because I play at night in bed, with little to no vibration/haptic feedback on RDR 1, I got 7 hours 49 minutes. Damn good when you realise the steam deck Oled gets about 1-2 hours before dying. I want to play games, not be sitting around waiting for my handheld to recharge constantly.
I think why sony making portal,.because android will kill their remoteplay app from android, because google same product🤣🤣 most reviewer always using iphone to remote play
Yeah, this isn't selling light hot cakes unless you count scalpers, you're pretty much better off using your phone since that's something you're normally going to have.
Yes you are absolutely right, the fact that it's sold out within the first day, and that a crapload of dads are buying this(unlike the PS VR 2) so they're kid/kids can watch whatever I'm the main TV of the house and they can still be in the vicinity of watching their kids while playing the PlayStation is exactly like the PS VR2... One thing cost $200 and allows you to still watch your kids and the other thing is $500, isn't portable, requires full immersion, And has never been sold out. You're right these things are totally comparable.. For somebody who's been remote playing for YEARS and has played on my tab 8 plus and the backbone on my Note 20 ultra, I'll take the bigger screen and convenience for an extra hundred bucks. They already came out within this last week and a half and said they're going to integrate cloud gaming they just want to make sure it runs good..
@williamg7138 lol more fathers are buying it for themselves and than mother's, I think that's pretty much a given with it being nicknamed the dad station.
@azarfe11Life25 yup that's right. PS5 are beloved by many but not PSVR2 & PS Portal. Even Sony themselves didn't reveal how many they sold PSVR2 & PS Portal. They really exited when revealed PS5 sales 😁
You need a ps5 499$ plus tax 546$, PlayStation plus, good internet and this thing cost 220$ and the earbuds another 180$ or more simply a scam just get a Nintendo switch
I don't understand why these haters are so bitter with the Portal. It is just an accessory and you are NOT required to purchase one. Then don't buy it - easy as that. Never knew a $200 optional accessory can make some people real stupid. And FYI, I am not buying the Portal since I don't game on the go.
But you also fell for the other worse scam. Like paying 50k just to use a phone holder on a car. Spending 1000 just to use a mouse with laptop Spending 1000 just to use a remote controller with tv And paying 500k just to use a bed in the house Literally scams that are worse but then u happily pay for them😂
I tired for the first time to remote play using my iPhone 13 Pro Max and backbone after getting the portal just to try it and my iPhone won’t connect to the ps5 but the portal does using the same internet connecting I’m confused as to why tho anyone can help me out ?
I have a ps5 but I don't see anything that good in ps portal that excite me to buy it ? As I see from all the reviewers ps portal is bad when it comed to online games ! One thing more hmm I think it's so bad to have it in my backpack (you need a case which means increase the size). Maybe a pro or v2 of ps portal is gonna be better I hope.
