I'm extremely frustrated, because I'm still waiting for games as we're 4 years into this console generation, and the only games I'm interested in have either PC or PS4 versions; in fact, I skipped the 8th generation consoles entirely because I'm hearing rumors Nintendo is making their new console backwards compatible with Switch titles, and a lot of the games I wanted eventually got ported to PC. Good lord, and I use to be an avid Playstation fan during the 6th and 7th console generations.
PS3 in 2006 would cost you $599, that's $934 adjusted for inflation. It came with a disc drive and stood on its own. Peak Sony, they've been going downhill ever since.
Exactly especially when it had a blu-ray disc drive that used to be very expensive back then when it launched. Not to mention that early models of the PS3 at that cost had full backwards compatibility.
I fact checked this for Australian pricing. The PS3’s launch price was $1000 AUD. Adjusting for inflation to 2023 that’s $1564 which means in 2024 with how crazy inflation was this year that could be anywhere from $1600 to $1700+. $1200 doesn't seem so crazy if you ask me.
@@DubDigital Oh I 100% agree with you. I'm just pointing out that the PS3 for its time was actually more expensive. Plus consoles are sold at a loss at release, so it's weird to say they're not worth the price. I paid like $2100 (AUD) for my graphics card alone. When comparing that to $1200 for a whole PS5 Pro it doesn't seem unreasonable (to me). But we all get to decide for ourselves though. I'm not going to buy it.
Because I will never waste my data cap on games so I have no interne for the month. So no pc ever. And the pro is less than my monthly electricity bill so it's not expensive to me.
I've been with "Team" Sony since the early 2000s. I switched to PC gaming 3 years ago when that scummy scalping crap was going on. This just reaffirms my decision. Sony deserves a clear message from consumers.
I'm more than happy enough with my much more older consoles and games. I don't have the room for any more consoles and games anyway and there isn't really anything that I've seen on the modern consoles that appeals to me that much.
It’s for PlayStation fanboys there’s your answer glad I’m on Xbox Sony is the most greedy company on earth charging an arm and a leg for accessories and games already like no way I’m done with Sony Nintendo and Xbox have my attention
Sony’s last great console was the Japanese developed first model PS3 because it was backwards compatible with their previous two generations (PS and PS2), offered exclusive PS3 games that couldn't be made on their previous system, it was also a Blu-ray, DVD and CD player, had a 60 GB hard disk drive and 4 USB ports. It was truly ambitious and had a unique architecture with the Cell processor so the $600 was justifiable back than. If the PS5 Pro was the ultimate Sony console again, able to play every single generation of PlayStation physical media, I would definitely consider buying at that price because that would be an amazing value.
Might as well buy a PC at that price point. Congrats Sonyponies on "winning". This is what no competition looks like. Bend over and get your lube ready!
i dont think ps5 is any good in the first place let alone another version of it. there has been no games or innovation the last decade or so, that is why they make a lot of remasters and remakes instead of new games.
@@August_Dust But I can just play them on PC, I'm not a child anymore and so I have patience to wait. If Sony want me to buy their console, they need to stop putting their games on PC. The only reason I own an Xbox Series S is for backwards compatibility which they haven't put on PC yet.
To be honest, I was looking forward to buy the PS5 Pro since I was waiting for so long for the Pro version to be revealed and sell to the market and the fact I don’t have PS5 console, but now they are selling an outrageous price with no disc drive, I am totally put off to buy the Pro console now, I might as well buy the PS5 original or slim at this point, because atleast they include the disc drive. I don’t know what Sony is thinking. One more thing I also need to add is that the prices for people to buy in Europe is more higher than the price to buy the Pro console in United States, even the Japanese price is more cheaper than all of the region prices they have shown. They didn’t calculate the currency rate properly before the presentation was to be shown. At this point I lost hope for Sony now. 😢
i honestly thought they weren't going to release this, microsoft said they weren't going to release a series x pro so their competing with no one at a time when everyones broke.
As a PC gamer I don't get why you're so worked up about this. It's just an option for those who want higher frame rates / better graphics and can afford to pay for it. You don't have to buy it if that's not you... With PC’s you can spend whatever you want (could be $100, $1000, or $10000), it just depends on what you want and what your budget is. On a much smaller scale it’s just giving console gamers that option. For the PC gaming community this is great news as consoles are always holding back development of larger, more beautiful and more ambitious games. So this helps to narrow the gap in performance between PC and console. Everybody wins right?
No because it's the other way around. PCs used to hold back development of larger and more beautiful games until the PS4/one gen came out then the PC took over I admit.
@@amazingamazigh1538 That's just straight up not true. PCs have also been ahead overall. There have been a couple of times where at the release of a console it might be close or even a little above the PC hardware of the time. But that never lasts for more than 9 months and PC hardware is back ahead again. And it stays that way for years (at least the next console release if not longer).
People are worked up because the price is insane and they expect you to pay for a stand and a disc drive separately. Yeah you can always just choose not to buy but it's about the principle.
They wouldn’t lower the price of the base PS5 because it’ll defeat the purpose of PS5 pro because people will just buy base because it’s still the same gen console without the slight uptick. They lower prices when next gen console are released because last gen will become obsolete. Base PS5 will not be obsolete when pro is released
