PSA?CSG?GMA?HGA...Which grading company to choose with all of these choices?!

There are so many card grading companies now that it's hard to decide who to use. I'm trying to decide the best for bulk grading. Most of my cards are 1980's and 1990's. With the rising costs from PSA, GMA, BGS and others, it can be a tough decision.
Who would you use for grading your trading cards??

I am personally going with CSG. Give them enough time they will be one of the "Main" companies to grade through. As for the green label, I agree wish it wasn't green, BUT, it is part of their security. It's has a holo effect that actually looks pretty neat. Between using AI, security features and part of a company that is the top grader for just about everything but sports cards. Paper money, coins, stamps, comics and game cards.....

I've found their customer service to be on point and their grading fair and consistent. A lot of the criticisms of GMA can also be said for all the grading companies. If you look you'll find examples - after all grading is just another opinion on the card. I also find the loudest critics of GMA have never bothered to try them out for themselves.

I basically have the same cards you were showing in this video. All late eighties, early nineties baseball, basketball, and football. Also that Steve Young rookie (which you didn't call out, lol) and a Jerry Rice rookie. In the same boat as to where to send them. Eventually I'd like to sell some of my collection. I said this on another channel, but I just don't see why the grading company determines the value of the card. If the card is gem mint no matter who determines as such, it should have the same value across the board. Are we paying for the slab or the cards these days?

CSG are not a bad grading company but aside from the cost I will be going HGA all the way. The authors are astounding and really complement the cards immensely. The other point I would like to make about HGA is that they take away the human element from grading the cards. Not to dis the last grading company that I went through, but they shit the bed on the grade I got for my card. Therefore piss off the human element and you have a pretty uniformed grading system.

I'm confused by your Lebron comparison. The CSG was a 9.5 and the PSA was a 10. Shouldn't you compare a PSA 9.5? Also, if you follow recent sales with CSG across the board, it's actually been pretty solid. About 80%-100% of the same value with PSA and BGS. Considering CSG just started out that's not that bad.
@Chris-sl1wh

@@Chris-sl1wh Awww ok, I’ve seen PSA 8.5’s so guess I assumed there was also 9.5’s, but just looked on eBay and didn’t see any. So maybe you’re right and I guess the comparison makes sense then. I mean the grade title is the same, but still feels like a 10 to 10 scenario should be the comparison. If not though, then CSG 9.5’s I’ll admit have some catching up to do on bigger sales. But then again, this was like the FIRST major CSG card sale so despite the considerably lower price it’s still impressive to me.

CSG green goes with my eyes👁 I continue to sbmit to PSA. I got 85 cards back two weeks ago, they are all gone. I got 27 back from PSA Saturday. 3 cards were not graded with a label that said micro something. 2 were '82 topps Ripkens and a '93 Jeter. I sent them to CSG today to see what they say. I compared the '82 Ripkens to other 82 cards and they were the same size🤔 Anyway, If I think my card is worth it, I have a rookie Troy Aikman, Barry Sanders etc. They are going to PSA most of my 80s cards are going to CSG. At the end of the day, I like the look of their finished product, and PSA cards will always be slightly easier to sell for the most part on eBay. PSA has had too many scandals to count, they dont offer subgrades and thus there are countless examples of 10's that should be 9's and vice versa - far too much subjectivity and bias, they just got "tougher" on grading so your pre 2020 psa 10s mat be compromised, labeling inconsistences left and right. The list continues. Its a wonder why and how they are #1 Go check out Mike Baker Authentication - some bullshit 2ndary grading process - notice how they just about exclusively grade PSA cards? hmm wonder why... cause deep down we all know PSA grade is not reputable. And hey , if you just want to see a 10 , why not save some money and go GMA.

I have about 20 cards that I've deemed worthy of sending in for grading right now, no matter the cost. These are cards I want slabbed, regardless of the grade (Curt Schilling rookie, Chipper Jones rookie, Bill Belichick "rookie", etc.) Not looking to flip 'em; just want to have them encased and graded. If any of my cards fit the criteria of upcoming quarterly specials, then I will probably shoot them over to PSA for grading at whatever discount is available. Oh, and I'm going with PSA. Their graded stuff is the standard now and probably will be for a long time, especially if prices and turn around times stay high. And since I'm not looking to sell immediately, and the governement is sending me money I don't need, then what the hell, right?
