People talk trash about PSA, but then you'll discover they've never actually used one, and it becomes apparent they have a Colt and need to justify paying the price of 3-4 PSA guns for it. This is awesome in the fact that PSA owns an original M16 manufacturer so they can put all the correct markings on there, making it a real H&R rifle, it's not even a clone anymore, it's just a semi-auto H&R M16.
@@mattycakes1161 PSA to me has always been the place where you go to buy fun AR15s for cheap. These days you can buy anything, for cheap, and it’s quality. My PSA upper has over 15k rounds through it and haven’t had any issues. It’s a little over gassed but it runs with the best of them.
They're quickly becoming my favorite, really seems like we're seeing the beginning of a new firearm empire. The Military arms channel did a video on a tour that they took of PSA and just the sheer quality and quantity of their production line was awesome.
@@captainduckles8704 Watching these videos I was thinking the same thing in terms of PSA about to become an empire (or more of one). The amount of product they move has to be simply staggering and seems like they've been having home run after home run. I bet just the Dagger sales alone would be shocking and that's got to be a teeny-bopper operation compared to their ARs.
They are making good decisions. Listening to what the community wants. I'm glad they are releasing the 80% retros again. I was kicking myself for not getting a few the last time they were in stock. I got a 607 stock assembly that I can't do anything with it.
You're just like the guy here, making a huge mistake. "We own H&R, we are H&R" Own and are are worlds apart, they don't even sniff at being the same thing.
Last I heard they got all of the original spec sheets and manufacturing data from the H&R purchase. They had already digitalized those plans and specs and were in the process of making prototype parts to refine the specs. That was 6 months ago at least so they're probably getting close to starting on the actual manufacturing design where they'll design the manufacturing machinery and processes.
This is the coolest news I have heard in a while. H&R is back, CEO by NoDak Spud and owned by PSA AND they are bringing back the M16A1! How can this news get any better? TAKE MY MONEY!!!
@Lynx Actual I had a brand snob friend with a DD saying shit about my cheap AR when his AR choked while he was doin ready ups. He blamed it on the ammo. I took his mag out of his rifle and finished the mag off for him, no issues. I don't know where people like you think the "name brands" get magical powers from, there's like a handful of forges in the US and they make all the receivers. If a receiver in in spec then it's in spec. Could those cheaper brands have less QC? Sure. That doesn't change the specs for a properly functioning AR.
@Lynx Actual Oh forgot, when it come to the LMT I had it wrong, it was LaRue. NuntnFancy or whatever has a nice long video about sending that one back to the factory a half dozen times and they couldn't get it right. Brought it to a local guy and widened the gas port and that's all it needed. Weird they couldn't figure that out being a gucci brand.
@@DystruktoBoi1- No shit. I own at least 5 PSA AR’s. They’re a mix of factory built and some I built from PSA parts. I have some more PSA lowers in storage that I’m going to build in the future. Never had an issue with any of their stuff. I don’t understand the hate on PSA as I’ve never had an issue with any of their stuff. I think people find out that their $250 stripped lower was most likely made by the same producer as the $39 PSA stripped lower and get butt hurt. Those kind of people remind me of those that have to be brand specific when buy clothes so they can show off a label.
A guy like Mike deserves a feature length interview. I replaced the flat top receiver of my old Bushmaster Dissipator upper with one of their last C7 stripped uppers, now it's irons only joy!
I have em both ways. But I am thinking of a C-7 upper. It should look good alongside my C-7A2 cloned upper rifle and my slick side and M-16A1 cloned rifles.
I always regretted not getting one of the uppers from the national guard when they were selling them off. I hope we can still get PSA guns for budget prices
I sincerely doubt that PSA will ever hike the price too high for the common man to afford. It's been one of their main focuses and values practically from the beginning.
An unnamed armorer friend of mine back in 2004 asked if I wanted a tax rebate from the government, I said yes. He showed up a few weeks later with a complete slick sided upper and a couple boxes of parts and magazines. I said how, why?? He said that he couldn’t see perfectly good in some cases new parts and uppers turned in for scraping. He and a couple of other armorers staged a small rebellion and filled the de mill barrels with scrap metal to make up the weight. They only had to show the de milled lowers and auto sears. Best tax rebate I ever got:-)
i regretted not picking up one of the brownells retro rifles before they were discontinued, but having the original manufacturer be the one to make the clone is even better honestly, this shit is so cool, and knowing PSA im sure the price point will reflect something the average person can afford.
I'd love to have a copy of the original Armalite AR-15 pre-government contract rifle. And no not that buzzard crap from the Armalite company that used to be Eagle Arms in Illannoyed.
I was lucky to get the AR-10 "clone" from Brownells. When I got it they were on sale, because they were trying to get rid of them. I wished I would have got an M16A1 style rifle too. Then I found out that Fulton Armory makes M16A1 clones to order. Now this. Good thing is now we have a couple options.
@@leviturner3265 I also got the Brownells BRN-10A, plus their BRN-601 and BRN-Proto. I had to make a lot of changes to make them more accurate. I expect the rifles and parts Mike sells won't require so much extra work. I did an XM16E1 build using a NoDak Spud lower so it would be great to add an H&R M16A1 much like the M16A1s I was issued in Vietnam in 1968.
I don't think a modern replica is going to have quite the same "feel" as a true war veteran, but if it gets more people shooting M1s that's still a good thing. The Garand's a cool gun from end to end.
Honestly this is the coolest development to come out of SHOT this year. Lots of potential for this line. My first gun was a h&r .410 single barrel so maybe it’s nostalgia talking
Ah a fellow .410 enjoyer. I learned how to shoot and hunt at 14 with a Russian Baikal .410 single shot. Really makes shot correcting with slugs into second nature.
TY!TY!TY! You have just brought a tear to an old man's eye!! You have no idea how many H&R's I have been involved with in my life( also H&R 1871, NEF)!! ( hav a mod 200-12ga sshot mfg by Marlin in '03, when they bot the co. Best deal of my life!!) Now, I see bright light @ end of tunnel. I may not sleep well tonight!!
Really hoping to see some A2 stuff. I realize the A1s are very popular but the A2 stuff is also very popular as well. While I will buy an H&R A1, I’d also be a buyer for an PSA A2. The A2 was “my rifle”, it was the first rifle I was issued when I first joined the Army in 1997. It was the rifle I took to Kosovo with me. I want an A2 clone.
They have essentially A3 uppers and you can clamp a carry handle on there to get close. I don't know about other makers. I get if an A3 with carry handle is not the same to you.
I have an old Minnesota DPMS. It's an absolute tack driver. It's been slightly modded with a PRS stock and free float tube. Not planning on parting with it. Good to see them back.
Hopefully they produce bigger batches cuz the 100 receivers per batch being out of stock less than 8mins only to find them resold for 4x the amount on GB is ridiculous 😅
@@trentoniousmaximus6299 As cool as it would be i dont think setting up the manufacturing for the revolvers and single shot shotguns would be profitable
From what i understand the single shot rifles took a crazy amount of hand fitting. Even if somehow they brought them back, theyd be no where near as cheap as they used to be.
I love it. Ten years ago, when my wife suggested we get an AR, I said "As long as it's not a boring, traditional AR." We bought a Colt Magpul 6920 and have been very happy with it, but lately the classics have been calling to me like a siren and I finally built my own A1 clone using a Windham Weaponry A1 upper. I absolutely love it and it's quickly become my favorite AR. I'll keep an eye on the H&R stuff though as it sounds like there's a bunch of different options coming down the pipe. Very cool!
Boomer fudds with too much disposable income from selling off their house at 2000% over market value will be scarfing them up since PSA won't restrict how many they sell at a time. The only place you'll be finding these is on GunBroker with a 200% mark-up.
I’m so happy, I’ve been wanting to build a delta clone for so long and all I’ve been missing has been a A2 upper. They’re absolutely right about them making a comeback. I’m 23 and have never been able to enjoy a carry handle
If the carry handle is all you want, you could just get an A4 upper. I picked up the Colt A4 model and kitted it out like an M16A4, keeping the carry handle but leaving it removable for optics.
I just made a delta style carbine. Technically it’s a xm177 on a nodak spud lower, colt A1 upper, all colt internals, brownells 12.7 inch 1/12 twist barrel, I put my light on a weaver style barrel mount, army green duct tape on the pressure pad for the light, I got a rubber band holding a tourniquet onto the aluminum car15 stock…might get an aimpoint pro to mount on carry handle but I like just the iron sights for the moment. It’s pretty litty 🔥
If I told my grandfather that fixed carry handles were cool again in 2023, he'd wonder why I was speaking English to him, what's a carry handle and where's the nearby bar. Miss you, grandpappy.
H&R not only made M-1 Garands, they made M-14’s, inch pattern FAL’s for testing, and license built HK-33’s for the seals during Vietnam, along with M-16A1’s.
Sign up for the CMP program, get a Rack grade Garand for $800 or expert grade Garand for $1200. Authentic military surplus Garands that will double or triple in price within the next 20 years as surplus supplies run out.
This is really cool. I was a unit armorer in the late 1980s. I found a H & R M16A1 that was in excellent condition. It appeared to have been a Rack Queen for all of its service. It was extremely accurate.
Grew up 14miles, (Home of Starrett Tools), from H&R Manufacturing in Gardner, Mass, and went to basic training at Ft Sill, Oklahoma in 1981. Seriously, what were the chances that I was issued a brand new, H&R M16...Yup, it was a brand new, never used M16. Three years down the road, my sister married the son of a former H&R employee Reane Doiron, who helped tool up the manufacturing of the H&R M16 for the Vietnam war. Glad to hear Palmetto State Armory is doing this.
Brownells got their retro line from Nodak Spud. Since the PSA acquisition Brownells hasn’t had the retro guns (besides the BRN180 and that’s only because PWS makes those in particular).
Just a subtle hint for another H&R Rifle, the M14 that was issued to me at Parris Island in '68 was a Harrington and Richardson. I qualified Expert with that rifle. Sure would like to have another one!
Years ago, I bought one of the CDNN "found in a warehouse" Colt M16A1 uppers. I built the lower half using mostly NOS parts and a NoDak Spud A1 lower. Nothing but good things to say about NoDak Spud.
i got a Windham a1 really well built and no complaints but its just an a2 through and through. just has the a1 carry handle and triangle guard, looks good with a2 handguards tho gives it Canadian c7a1 vibes
I wanted to get one of those Brownell's retro ARs when they first came out but I didn't have the cash, and I soon had to quit my job. Now they're not sold as full rifles anymore, glad to see this.
This is awesome to hear that H&R is back! My very first gun (still have it) is a Single shot 20 gauge. Does anyone know if they are going to make some of their old guns like the Handi rifles or the single shot shotguns again?
3:58 Either SBR or 14.5 with pinned and welded flash hider is definitely the way to go. Braces weren't ever really a good option for clone builds anyways.
I love that I got my H&R clone just before the cutoff. I found a guy rolling these out and it's an identical gun to what PSA is doing except where it says south carolina on these mine still has the marking of the original site, Worcester Massachussetts.
Man I'm super, SUPER excited about that 9mm. I have been flirting very closely with buying a Colt Carbine 9mm for the last few months after buying my (semi-auto) MP5. I was looking to complete my collection of 9mm subguns that I loved from my childhood. I figured I'd buy the Colt for $1,000, and then replace the God awful ugly and pointless 16" upper with the shorty "Colt Commando"-style 9mm Colt upper. Then I went looking for that replacement shorty upper and discovered that they basically don't exist anymore. As far as I can tell...or as far as I could find...they aren't being made anymore. Or if they are being made, they are being made in unbelievably small quantities. The only ones I could find were beat to hell police trade-ins and I'm not interested in buying abused, worn-out trash. So I put my purchase on hold. I guess I got lucky because I'm going to be ALL OVER this H&R model when they release. We really appreciate you guys making the upper available on its own!!! I'm hoping that you guys will eventually make some CAR-15 style 11.5" 5.56 uppers with the fixed carry handles as well!
@@alastor8091 what? told him not to make standard a2 uppers? because standard a2 uppers are for righties and lefties? If anyone wants those dumb left-hand eject uppers just get a Stag...
