In this series we will be reading through the Psalms one by one and pointing out cool stuff along the way. The goal is to help get the Psalms into our theological landscape so that they help form our outlook as they have done for God's people for nearly 3,000 years.

... without the intervention of God. Thank God that Jesus said that if He was lifted up, He would draw ALL men. That is why anyone can say, Psalm 27:8 KJV - When thou saidst, *Seek ye my face;* my heart said unto thee, *Thy face, LORD, will I seek.*

Naval is more of a wicked person than a fool. it is connected to the word nevela, which means dead body. Nevalim (wicked ppl) in their life, are called dead.

Yeah, I have been quoted this psalm before. Gleefully. By followers of Jesus called the Christ. Who seem to find joy in quoting it, too ignorant of their own Bible to know what was meant by what is written there. "Hey, I didn't write it! It is just in my Bible, God wrote it!" On a side note, my deeds are not vile. I hesitate to use the loaded word "good" but I feed the hungry and help the poor. The hyperbole in this song is misleading, but try explaining that to a "believer."

Number of mentions of "seek*" in the Bible: 266. Number of mentions of man seeking God: 60-80+. Psalm 27:8 KJV - When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

I found that some of my deeds were vile. Surprisingly, because I was a "good" girl. That didn't stop me from making a horrible mess of my life, before I was even a teenager. I didn't mess up my life allone, but some of my reactions to the traps laid by the devil were foolish, and were not good. I trust in Jesus, and He said that He did not come for the righteous, but for sinners, to bring us unto salvation. That causes me to realize that I do not do well to pretend I am not a sinner. If Jesus came into the world only for sinners, that's who I am, and I am grateful. I would rather know I am a sinner, and that Jesus came to save us, than feel falsely self justified. I can only speak for myself, although I do see some of the sins of self-righteous people sometimes, enough to see that their assertions of no sin is a lie. Other times, I cannot argue with someone who asserts that they are deserving of good and I am deserving of bad. I might suspect that they are being dishonest, but I don't know enough to point it out. I have only the word of God, that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. This is why I can't agree, on the face of it, with people who decry "sin-leveling", although there are some times that equivocating sins can be done dishonestly, for a dishonest purpose. There is still the fact that God's word shows that there is a levelling in the fact that we are all sinners in His eyes. After all, He loves us, and gave himself for us. He has concluded us all under sin, so He can show mercy to all.

@@lindajohnson4204 wrote "at some of my deeds were vile. Surprisingly, because I was a "good" girl. That didn't stop me from making a horrible mess of my life, before I was even a teena" Yeah, that is too bad that you feel that way. I have tried to treat others as I would be treated, so I have no real regrets. I don't feel "justified" or "self-righteous," I don't feel the need to be those things. As the song says, "regrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention.

@@joestfrancois The man who says "regrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention", does not truly regret the sinful things he's done. It breaks my heart. He glorifies only his pride, and refuses a contrite heart. What good is that, especially to him? He refuses the comfort of having a contrite heart, comforted by God, and refuses God's love, refusing to draw near to Him. I hate that song.

@@lindajohnson4204 wrote "He glorifies only his pride, and refuses a contrite heart. What good is that, especially to him?" I don't "glorify" anything about myself. You are making little sense. I am not prideful, not in the way you are talking about. You keep talking about sin and being contrite. I see no evidence that this "sin" exists. You are asserting things for which you can give no evidence.
