my dad was drunk driving from Va. beach ran into an army truck hurrying back to base speeding my mom was 3-4 months pregnant with me she crashed through the windshield rolled down a hill and slammed into a telephone pole the last thing she said before she passed out was Psalm 23 when she awoke again in ambulance she felt me kick while the girl in the backseat of car died at the same moment, I was alive thanks be to God and my moms faith, mom lived and carried me to full term. Praise God for his mercy his word is truth.
+andrew G thank you in God's mercy I see his hand of protection on her from the time momma was a lil girl in mtns Ky one of poorest families in America in Ky, he healed her when she was sick,he warned her in a dream of her first husband would try to kill her to get away. she heard missionaries when she was a young child and baptized her brothers and sisters in creek bar. she was like a mother to many of them watching over them taking care of them on many cold nights. God is truely a father to watch over orphans widow the poor are in his eye if you insult them you insult the God who made them. He's brought my mom through so many operations and has spoke to her dreams of things to come, and dark days to come. She had me 40 years ago. God has been flashing that number 74 over and over and over again to me this past year year I was born I'm not sure why. thank you again How wondrous and wonderful our Abba is. Richie's mom.
I don't get your story? Except your drunk dad caused the death of a girl in a backseat of his car...your pregnant mom didn't pray...she just repeats a couple verses in the Bible..Psalms 23...and somehow you think because she just repeats Psalms 23...this is what kept her and you alive? but she never prayed? I don't get it? and what do you mean..? "she felt me kick while the girl in the backseat of the car died at the same moment"...what the hell does that mean? What a weird thing to say...what is it suppose to mean? Just sounds like a kind of pointless crazy story that has no meaning to it? Are you from the south? If se went through the front windshield and then "passed out"..how could she know when the girl in the backseat died?...you said she was thrown out of the car and then passed out...your story doesn't add up...there's no way she could of known exactly when the other girl died.
I'm Christian, not Jewish, but I appreciated the part where he talks about thanking the people who have caused difficulty in our lives. I understand that. They may have created difficulty, but they made us stronger.
Thank you Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi. The translation is absolutely beautiful and it resounds with what little I have experienced in having Yaweh as my Shepard. I appreciate the corrections too, especially about "surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life" where you explain when the paranoia hits. I find myself seeing what the world calls "bad" as something that God somehow ALWAYS turns around to my benefit. I must remember this when what looks "bad" approaches. And whether I see it or not, it is true. It is goodness and mercy, I do not thirst. Thank you for all of it!
So much of the Old Testament is mirrored in the New Testament, e.g. Christians love to say, "Count it all joy" an affirmation which has often emboldened me.
I am living proof that God is kind and generous above all human measure. I greatly appreciate this man who's given his life to know the word of God and takes the time to share that
A Christian would be foolish not to drink from the fountain of wisdom of the Rabbis. You don't have to check off his complete list of beliefs as your own. But what a glorious exposition of the queen of Psalms (INMHumbleO)! Just drink it in! But the way, the dancers are doing a spectacular interpretation of the Psalm. Without being tight-assed about it ... 😇
I'm Christian, and I greatly appreciate this man's expertise and knowledge of the Psalm and the original Hebrew text, the Vulgate, and the King James Version. There is indeed much wisdom in his words, and I suspect I'll be looking up other videos like this in the future.
Christian only missing *BIBLEs* wisdom else they have all I'm hindu left and I see many things that I know and Jews know but CHRISTIAN don't know cos none teaches do deep this is why go though *BIBLE* of my own maybe I'll understand less but I'll understand
These are God's chosen people, we should listen to the ways it was written and not to what the translators think is best! Thank you for this very appreciated 💞
I'm not the least religious, but I take the rabbi's more seriously than most religious leaders. This man is a great example of that. When I was in college I went to our local synagogue to interview the rabbi for our school paper. His answers surprised me. I asked about heaven & hell. His vision of the afterlife (or lack thereof) was not what I expected. He said "What if you should do the right thing, just because it's the right thing to do, rather than for some reward". That changed my life.
23rd Psalm is much loved here n Scotland so your insights were very thought provoking - thank you Rabbi. By the way we have it weddings as well as funerals. I am certain that the humour you display could make much of that :)
"My cup overflows". I personally believe it meant 'I have too much supply and have not even finished with the previous drink yet, and now God is continually pouring more for me from the floodgates of heaven, as I tithed'.
This little video offers the greatest argument for learning Hebrew so one can understand the depth of intention of these psalms and prayers! What an excellent example of the teachings of this great teacher who was and will always be my rabbi, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, z"l.
from the Jewish perspective it's so nice to see & hear the word of God come alive , to show on the face of those who have given their lives to seek the true intimacy of relationship with God through His word. as a believer in Jesus it comforts my heart to know this depth of holy ,perfect love. How completely kind and good my Father God is to me. Thank God for this rabbi and His work to educate us on the root of covenant with Jehovah Rohi
One of my favorite psalms and I pray it every night before I sleep . Yes my Lord is my shepherd 😘 The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul. He leads me in right paths For His Name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; For you are with me; Your rod and Your staff - they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, You anoint my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life. And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord My whole life long. Amen and Hallelujah ❤️🙏🏻✝️ praise The Lord Jesus Christ
Saint Jerome (Vulgata) Helped a Rabbi to understand a Psalm! What a beautiful connection The Lord has made. What a blessing Jews are for true christians and vice versa.
Bernard Guy Nunns j’eus is not god for the xillion time he human God is infinit and does not think like a human. IF YOU WANT BETTER ANALOGY A DAD IS MORE MATURE THAN HIS 2 year old child. THE DIFFERENCE HERE EVEN MORE SO WITH GOD IS IN MUCH HIGHER WISDOM THAT S WHY GOD SAYS MY THOUGHTS R NOT UR THOUGHTS cause ur humans THAT MEANS GOD IS NOT HUMAN . JESUS IS HUMAN HOW HARD IS IT FOR U GUYS TO UNDERSTAND. WHY RU BELEIVING IN A IDOL ITS SAD UR STILL STUCK 2020 wake up
The 23rd pslam is just beautiful and this rabbi was just takes me to heaven. I learn in Hebrew the Shepard carrys the lamb its just beautiful .PRAISE OUR LORD
_Ipsame consolata sunt_ Thank you for explaining how the rod (for correction) & staff (for comforting) actually both bring comfort. I’m a Christian and I appreciate the wisdom of Rabbi Friedman. (Notice I did not say _I’m a Christian but_ ... we aren’t in competition)
The rod and staff are used by shepherds to defend the sheep against predators and guide the sheep as well as used for support while walking on difficult terrain.
Thank You Yeshua, for grafting gentiles together with Jews and letting us partake in the promise and blessing of abundant life through the blood sacrifice you gave... The lovely for the unlovely.
I have been poor and I have been "rich" and Jesus has never left my side. I have known since I was a child and believed that I was being taken care off.
Its a wonderful thing to hear a Rabbi expound the scriptures from our Creator. This Christian loves truth and believes Rabbi Valman is doing the Lord's work.
Chalky Choo Choo I was thinking to myself, "No, he didn't say what I thought I heard him say. It's just his accent. He said something else that I thought sounded like a swear". Wow😱😨😬
Wow Praise God for the insights of this psalm, I often wondered what the symbolism meant to the Jewish people. Thank you Rabbi for sharing this meaning. 😊
I’m born again and the Holy Spirit revealed to me that the 23 slm is a picture of all the covenants made starting with Adam I will not wont . Nowa he restores my soul , Abraham path of righteousness, Moses the law rod and staff comfort me , Jesus Christ goodness and mercy , dwell in the house of the lord forever . Thea’s are the covenants read the hole salm it’s self explanatory. With love
@@indigo8156 I hope jc has something better to do than living in your imagination. God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Your a teacher and not know these things.
It is fascinating to find how much praise is heaped upon God in the very first wording of Psalm 23 "The lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing" Yet the previous Psalm 22 delivers a very different line "My God, my god why have you deserted me?" A line which we note was used by Jesus on the cross.
I'm a Christian but this is beautiful. I guess it's in the translation or the mistranslation.. beautiful. If we would just realize we're all brothers and sisters together.. Christians Jews Muslims, everyone. If we could just realize we're all saying the same thing
No, we're certainly not "saying the same thing". Jesus makes that abundantly clear on almost every page of the New Testament (and the epistle writers confirm what he says). Neither the Jews nor Muslims believe God has a son. And they don't believe God raised him from the dead, thus defeating death forever (Hebrews 2:14-15, 1 Corinthians 15 etc). Jesus says if you don't have him you have no life ("zoen" in Greek) in you: John 6:53-58, 1st John 5:11-12. He says you CANNOT know God except through him: Matthew 11:27, John 5:20, 23, 14:7, 17:3 etc. "Jesus said to him: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no-one can come to the Father, except through me" (John 14:6) He says the Holy Spirit will indwell believers in him (John 14:16-17). And many, many other things. He never once even hinted that he is "a" way and there are "others!" And although everyone is made in the image of God and is precious to Him, not everyone is a CHILD of God. Children of God are defined in passages like the following: "He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the children of God, even to them that believe on his name: Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" (John 1:11-13) "Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God" (1 John 3:1a)
I believe that the Valley of the shadow of death as portrayed and Kings James Bible means that sooner or later we know that we all will die this is hanging over us at all times . that is the shadow of death as I see it . so yay though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for the Lord art with me. in other words I'm not going to fear death because the Lord's with me and I know where I will be going at the end of my life.
