Years ago, early in my walk with Christ the Lord gave me this Psalm as He walked with me through a major trial. He used this Psalm to change my life. Literally. Here at the end of the world I find it again to be a comfort. Thanks for this message.
Jim, God gave me this Psalm when my son was seriously unwell in a foreign country, I recite Psalm 46 every morning, afternoon, and bedtime. It is so comforting and assuring.

For years I searched for good commentary and finally my college age son shared Enduring Word( he was introduced at school). I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (October 31, Reformation Day), this was our Psalm of the Day. On February 20, 2017, my mother entered the Church Triumphant. This was read at her funeral by the Baptist minister of a local Baptist Church where she grew up in and where she was baptized and where she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Redeemer. Thank you for your teaching. That has helped me to understand the psalm better. I have never heard anyone explain what God meant when he said “Be still” like that before. The psalm is an encouragement, and a challenge, especially to those like myself who are prone to worry and think negatively. I like your point about God’s grace, when he is referred to as the God of Jacob.

You are a great Bible teacher but Pastor I do pray that you not only believe in the Apostles creed but in the Apostles doctrine of salvation and that is found in Acts 2:38
