i love watching your video's, as for your comment about being bias, i believe out of all the reviews i watch you would have to be the least bias person i have seen regardless of price point or brand. keep up the good work.
With the limb pockets further forward than the grip, they will try and "rotate" around the pivot point of the grip when you apply a force, i.e. pulling at full draw. This results in torque on the shot. Hard to explain this one but there are diagrams showing how this works.
Addressing the issue of front stabilizer weight... I am 6'4" tall, my last 3 vertebrae are fused and I have a bad right SI joint that causes alot of pain. I have found that with my target bows that using the Beiter Centralizer Long Rods at a really long length...mine is 37 in, comes in 26" to 54", with 1 oz at the end, replaces all that extra weight (which causes me massive discomfort!!) and keeps the bow extremely stable and hard to torque. After you get use to the stabilizer you can actually tune your groups by moving the individual tuners forward or backwards like that soft rubber doughnut you put on a rifle barrel!! This has made a massive improvement, especially at the longer targets 60 to 80 yards, with my scores as the heavy bow would cause me pain in my lower back and R hip which caused me to shake and rush the shot!!
I love your stuff no doubt, Your expertise dwarfs mine. Tons of great info Bla bla bla. But if I may level a small constructive criticism. Your enthusiasm about how it held for you when you were shooting it “feels really really good” “I’m loving this bow absolutely loving it” seemed to fade when you went down range and saw your shot group. Judging the bows shot groupings, shooting it with a whisker biscuit, no peep and a super cheap hunting sight with no magnification, well I wouldn’t let my grouping take away from the stability that a true deflex riser brings when I’m at full draw. Love your reviews, I have to comment on your moneymaker info, they also had a dual cam version, moneymaker x lf, it was a little faster than the single cam but not much. Only had one cable stop and I think that is what makes it feel so crisp. Those old cams were smooth but not fast by any means. The mm was also a 40" Ata bow.
Focus v Shootdown??? The Shootdown hardly gets a mention compared to the Perform. I'd really like to see a side by side comparison between the two fully set up for target at 50m.

Love the channel. I have been shooting recurve for a year now and want to grab a compound... and you have convinced me to get a PSE. I do have a question about the bow arm. Is the bow arm position any different between recurve and compound ? Can I hold the compound the same way I have been taught with my recurve ?
Yes the same. Compound just easier. I shoot compound with a slight bent arm. You will shoot compound well. We had an archer win Compound and recurve at Nationals,
Yes I think the Shootdown and Perform are the same, the Focus has a different balance and thinner grip, so with the Focus you can add more weight to the front. the more weight you have on the front the slower you move.
What would you consider " normal" weight for a hunting and a target bow? My daughter is looking into getting into archery but she's not very strong. We've tried lots of bows at brick and mortar stores and she finds 6 lbs to be heave pretty quickly. Suggestions?

I might have missed it but I don't think you mentioned one of the biggest differences between the Focus and the other target bows - no LAS. I'm sure you were disappointed to see that...Haha
Great review as always, CHEERS. I would like to chime in on the serving of the cables, or in actuality, the lack thereof. Two strands on my Shootdown have broke, this is about 1,200 arrows. To me this is unacceptable. PSE shame on you.
Hi - I not sure why on some they wear and other they don't. Someone suggested different slides - but I had two bows made on the same day. I think serving which is now standard is the way to go.
Rather than judge a bow shooting at a single spot wouldn't it be better to say shoot a 300 vegas scored round for example (or whatevers popular in Au) The variation in aiming points will give a better impression of how the bow performs.
I can guess why no LH. But I can ask PSE tonight. Some of the risers are pre forged or pre shaped. This can make the riser stronger or reduce machining. If they do this then they need to make so many bows. I think the number was 1,000. So it would be they don't expect to sell that many LH. But I will ask and let you know. The Epix is that reason. Although a great selling bow.
Do you have any input on G5 bows by chance? Also why may a bow rapidly wear out a string in a couple days if its a high quality string and the bow is mechanically sound?
Not really - they are well made - a good finish - I struggled to sell them due to price point and adjust ability in draw length. Generally all strings are made of the same stuff 452X and Halo. This is all expensive and should last a long time. So it depends where the string is wearing and why. Serving on a string can move.
The bow is adjustable. I think the PSE stinger is better due to Single cam draw stop. But the Fever is light, has good limbs. A nice bow but in the day the Stinger out sold the Fever 50 to 1 at least.
Archery Supplies Okay I just upgraded from a little Mathews Menace. The little Mathews was a kiddies bow but it thought me how to shoot. I traded it in at my local pro-shop for the PSE Fever. Thus far I like it. Will take it pig hunting soon.
If you dont want dislikes then dont put youself on youtube or own a business. We do 50 orders a day if you stuff up you get a bad review. 99% of customers are great 1% or less are trouble. I can count the problem customers and I have 30 000 customers. If hating is helping their life let them hate. Always best to stay positive.
To me its a supra max with a money maker riser.... Or a moneymaker with new cams... Either way i see pse falling into the same trap as Hoyt. Same thing over and over again.... With very little variation/innovation. Perhaps an indication that the pinnacle of bow design has been reached.
Can I list the changes limb pockets, limb profile cable guard, cable slide, strings and cams. The new evolve cams give archers choice on how they want the bow to feel. I was Bowtech years ago and they had a great bow but each year they brought something new out. So many problems, I like small changes. The look at the Carbon Stealth new riser design, Then the improvements on the Stinger things have moved forward a lot.
Archery Supplies. Thanks for the response. I honestly cant argue with that. I know from my own shooting what difference such a small change can make to end results. Im currently shooting my Dominator Max. Absolutely love the bow. In the past ive owned and shot a Hoyt Contender Elite and a PSE Supra ME and MAX. Across all those bows i still scored on average the same. Whilst ive had a few years break from compound and now back training again many different models have been released. Just thinking based on previous experience that the same will be true. ?? A decent compounder will make any midrange to top of range bow perform. (Owned also a PSE Stinger extreme until riser fractured was replaced under warranty fine as expected from pse then sold it on which i regret) i think bow set up and arrow choice is critical to high scores along with repeatable form/technique. But small changes like limb pockets cable guard tension of limbs... Not sure. But what you said makes sense so cant really disagree.
Having owned a Moneymaker years ago & now a new Focus, be assured that the Focus is a totally different bow to shoot. The only similarity may be the riser geometry. The Focus feels tight, taught & quick by comparison.
@@kennethosborne6497 I upgraded a moneymaker to Mini EVO Cams some years ago to gain exactly what you described with the Focsu, it's still one of the best target bows I've shoot (and probably still the lightest and forgive), do you believe it make sense for a Moneymaker guy to look for new sensations with this Focus???
