Great video as usual. Very thorough honest look at both headsets with no BS. For now I am happy with my PS4 and PSVR1 - in the future I will get the PSVR2 for sure... maybe when they bring out an upgraded PS5 pro and second iteration of the headset. Mainly because I don't have bags of money. If I did I would already have the new one :)

Ye it's a hard sell at the moment I think, it needs more games or at least more announced games. If somebody doesn't have any VR headsets then maybe as they'll love the games that are out. But it's needs more ASAP!

Bro you need to try the PSVR 2 it’s just a super clear version of the original and the immersion is of the chain with the new features like the headset haptics adaptive triggers etc like for instance I can’t play saints and sinners on my PlayStation vr as it makes me feel sick but I can play the same games on the PlayStation VR 2 but the battery life on the controllers are a bit of a let down that’s the only grip with it

@@jdarg4163 as someone who enjoys playing for up to 7 hours I actually prefer the 1st VR headset for long sessions. It's more comfortable and the controllers can last way longer than 7 hours. I'd rather have overall functionality than better visuals. It's really on Sony, they should have done better, it was an easy slam dunk after they did so well with the first headset. I don't understand why they made the decisions they did for PSVR2, all they had to do was make great controllers, and they had plenty to copy at this point. It's a shame because PSVR2 should be the best VR headset around if done right

At the moment I can't recommend it, not with the games that are out. By next year if better games come out, and more importantly if PlayStation pay for some exclusives that really show what the hardware can do then it may be a different story. So far it doesn't look like they've done a lot to help support the launch.

Hi and thanks for the video Very happy with my psvr one right now for the reasons you mention and again not willing to upgrade to psvr2 for the reasons you mention also . You didn’t mention the field of view and how it differs in your video as that’s a fairy important issue for immersion . Also am sure your aware there will be pc compatibility coming soon ? That should vastly increase the library of games for psvr2 also . I also been told there will be a graphics update for psvr2 also coming - see polish pauls channel . But right now in my humble opinion though when I look at the videos of graphics comparisons between psvr one and two , I don’t see that much of a difference in visual quality , now am sure they will look better in the headset with the imorived lenses and resolution but graphically I don’t see that much of a difference even from the games you showed me and that again puts me off buying the newer one eg when you compare say re7 to re8 is there really that much of an improvement that justifies the purchase as I would have to pay over a grand just for the psvr2 plus the ps5 and then the expensive cost of the games ? What about moss, astrobot, blood and truth, Robinson etc they look great in psvr one . I must admit Roomscale is a big one for me also though even though the headset is still wired . Another dissapointment is non backwards compatibility and a lot of games are just last gen pc ports. Id recommend especially if you don’t have that much money to burn would be to buy a psvr one and get the games dirt cheap and wait a few years for the price of the second to drop significantly and once you see a lot more aaa games come out for it then get the second gen as by then it will be much cheaper and you can get a used one and hopefully the older games will be a lot cheaper also and you can see how much support there is for it by then . Can I ask how you found the field of view of psvr1 compared to psvr2 ? Cheers

Field of view I didn't notice any difference, generally it changes a lot with how close you move the lenses to your face and I was immersed equally with both. Never had an issue with field of view in general, I always feel like I'm just in the world but I do crank it close to my face until I see the edge of the screen in the headset. Yes PC support is coming they've added some firmware changes already, but no info on if it needs an adapter or if there will be any restrictions. I would say that I have played more PSVR2 games that were on both now (mainly Red Matter 1) and PSVR2 is crisper/clearer mainly due to resolution, but the old one is limited more by hardware of the PS4 than the headset hardware. In general I would say the biggest thing holding back game quality is that they're mostly games released on Quest, I feel games made exclusive for PSVR2 would really show what it can do. In movie viewing I prefer PSVR1 because the lenses on PSVR2 have those circular ridges that sometime are visible, kinda like a bullseye logo on top of the picture you see. This happens in particularly bright scenes such as white backgrounds. I don't notice this in games, but its annoying in some movies. I've been considering g doing an update video now I've had it longer and played more games. But in general I'd agree with you, the PSVR1 is much better value right now and I'd wait for a price drop at least for PSVR2 as they stopped production due to lack of sales so I would expect a price drop by Christmas to clear stock if sales don't increase.

@@ukpsndeals7376 thanks for your detailed reply . If even the fov isn’t improved but only slightly ie just by the 10 degrees on paper then as fov was a big thing for me , as I felt I was viewing the vr world as through a window with most vr headsets other than the pimax , then I’ll probably either wait for the psvr2.5/3 (if it ever gets released ) or buy another headset such as a pimax or whatever has a high fov by then . Just don’t feel the headset offer that many features for now over others to justify its purchase . Anyways , I think there might be a few new generations of the quest ie quest 4-5 in the next 2-4 years which will make psvr2 obsolete or almost as there will be mobile graphics on a par with psvr2 with better fov and wireless as well so Sony will need either a psvr2.5 or 3 to compete in the vr market but let’s see what happens . But for now am not convinced enough to upgrade and it might even be possible that Sony is partly giving up on the new headset partly because they haven’t sold as many as they wished and partly because they are allowing this pc link thing but at least it will promote more headset sales as a lot pc owners will buy it now and it will allow sony to get rid of the surplus they have already and make it more popular . Anyways I’ll subscribe and thanks for all your efforts and am sure you’ll produce a great video for this psvr2 to pc port that’s coming . Cheers

@@paulnicolas172 if sales don't improve I believe Sony will stop at PSVR2, they did send surveys to owners asking what needs improving. So they're likely deciding if they want to add PC support to clear stock and ditch it. Or double down. I think generally the games are holding back VR, we need better and more AAA games that push the hardware to the limit to gain customers and user base. I would personally like them to remaster PS3 games and add VR support, Killzone trilogy VR remastered anyone? Like they did with Wipeout. Easy way to get a load of good VR games quick, and exclusive too. I'm generally disappointed with the lack of PlayStation support for PSVR2, they closed their VR studios recently, so looks.like they're ditching exclusive VR game development. I'm hoping they will pay for more games to add VR support like RE4, but who knows if they will spend the money. I'm leaning towards getting a Pico 4 cheap (they're unlocked so I can do a lot of IT stuff with it as I have an IT background) and just call it a day until VR succeeds or dies.

Again really appreciate your detailed replies . It will be a sad day if soby ditches psvr2 and so a possible psvr 2.5/3 as well and if this was to happen this would effect vr gaming in general relocating vr again more to the enthusiast so in effect going backwards . I do feel though that even if this was the case we’d still have the quest though to still keep it alive hopefully . They definitely needed that backwards compatibility to make it more of a success but at least they are going someway to allow Pc link . Right from when it was released I mentioned in comments section in channels that reviewed it that it would be great that as well as being backwards compatible with previous console games and current flatscreen os5 games that if it has like a program or algorithm that would allow a standard flat screen game to be converted to a basic pseudo vr or at least allow a 3D effect in cinema mode which the user could alter the settings to suit there requirements just like you have vorpx for pc but a little simpler to use for non pc enthusiasts or if not that maybe the option of say a curved screen effect in cinema mode - this would at least add a bit more immersion for flat screen games and movies - this could just be like a basic program algorithm that would work independently so Sony wouldn’t need to them try to port flat screen games into 3D/VR as this program would do it automatically . I doubt very much they’d do this but if an independent software house could make a program like this that could be paid for and downloaded from the ps store but again I doubt anyone will do this . Only alternative for this if there is a pc link would be via software like vorpx or suoerdelth 3D . I also don’t think there will be a pico 5 now either or even a index 2 either so looks like it’s gkibg to be an uneventful year for vr this year and possibly the next other than fur more games . I don’t think ps5 pro will help to boost the psvr2 if there aren’t any AAA VR games hardly coming in the first place A lot of people say vr is dying but let’s see what the future brings especially when the quest 4 arrives in a few years . Apple pro vr price is a joke so your definitely better off with pico 4 or quest 2/3 for productivity . Cheers

@@paulnicolas172 I don't think VR is dying either I think its stalling until someone steps up with a chunk of money and backs it with huge amounts of game funding. It may be an unpopular opinion but I kinda think PlayStation is key to VR right now, they're mainstream and have the money and back catalogue to cement VR as a stable platform. There is a PSP emulator you can use on Pico and Quest called PPSSPP which will convert any game into VR, you can play the entire PSP catalogue in VR on it. Puts PlayStation's lack of effort to shame. I currently think if PlayStation ditches VR that would be the worst for the future as they can push the games as well as the technology. Quest is pushing technology but not the games, they seem.more interested in metaverse (which I'd be happy to say is a definitive failure at this point) if they pivoted to game development funding they could do what PlayStation should be doing as well. I just think they're less likely to do so and have less game licenses etc. VR Spiderman anyone? Come on Sony! As for Pico they've killed 5, but they're releasing a 4s instead. No further details at the moment on if its a more powerful version to try and match Quest 3 or just a revision. There are leaked controllers that have no tracking ring so they're definitely changing. That's one of the reasons I want a Pico, Final Fantasy and God of War in VR? Yes please

In my opinion of owning both headsets is that the PlayStation VR 2 is miles better as a whole especially the head haptics and adaptive triggers apart but most the games as my most played VR games are all on the PlayStation VR only but now I can’t play my PlayStation VR as I’m so used to the the headset rumble and the adaptive triggers
@ukpsndeals7376
@ukpsndeals7376 Год назад
Yes I did find that setting, I should have covered it in the video. But I found the temporary area it can generate was so small it didn't make a difference. They really should get rid of that since it seems to only apply in the initial setup anyway as you can override any other time in settings when adjusting the play area.
@paulnicolas172
@paulnicolas172 5 месяцев назад
It’s funny how you get different opinions but a lot of people who own the psvr2 say the better haptics don’t make that much difference to them and is a bit more of a gimmick than anything else

Having a wire in the headset kills it for me, they need to figure out a way to do it wireless with no latency
@ukpsndeals7376
@ukpsndeals7376 10 месяцев назад
That's a future goal for most headsets I feel. At the moment you either trade wireless for battery life and lack of graphical power. Or you trade the wire for better graphical power, infinite battery life, lighter more comfortable headset, and lower purchase cost. They'll get there, eventually, maybe, if VR lasts that long anyway 😄

The biggest downsite is the lost of great games on lastgen, that are simply gone at the moment: RE7 VR, Astrobot, Hitman III, Star Wars Squadrons, Skyrim, Farpoint, Persitence............those were one of the very best titles, not those average VR-specific games you can also forget about. THOSE ARE MISSING. PCVR-Gamers can play at least some of them, but Sony-Players simply lost them all without port. In my oppinion not excuseable to let this go through the rags. Those games would add up to the current libary and newcomers could enjoy them. Charge for them Sony, earn money with them, but stop beeing lazy.
@ukpsndeals7376
@ukpsndeals7376 Год назад
Yes! Definitely. Sony really should have spent money to make sure their exclusive games at least we're ported over to PSVR2. Along with the best of their PSVR1 catalogue. Especially for games they own themselves like Robinson's the Journey or Wipeout Omega collection. Whatever happens PlayStation can't complain because they could have done so much more to support it even at this point.

I like the PSVR2, but it needs more game support. PlayStation made launch games for the first one and really supported it. This time they've kinda just expected other companies to pick up the slack. Also they cheaped out on the construction, with the comfort etc. It's amazing hardware, but without games that take advantage of it I don't think we'll ever see what it can really do. Which is a shame if that ends up being the case. I hope it gets great games down the road and continues the success of the PSVR1.
