I wanted to fix a mistake I made here, 20 grams of mushrooms won't kill you, the number is actually a lot higher than that! As far as I've researched recently it seems that nobody has a clear answer on this but many are sure it's high enough that nobody would realistically reach it.

I consumed 14 grams of shrooms in a single dose, once. It was an incredible mind-altering, reality-bending experience, but it was all in my own psyche and was fabricated by my mind. I talked to god, but I didn't actually talk to god; just my mental perception of what that conversation would be like. I went to another world, but I didn't actually go to another world; my mind fabricated a world around me that felt fascinating and surreal. The experience is very real, but the factual effects on reality are minimal. Simply our minds on an adventure.

Hey man, I would like to thank you for this video! I was never able to put into words my experiences with psychadelics, and I never had anyone to talk to, my friends would just roll their eyes and think I was talking crazyness, and you put my thoughts into words. I completely understand what you mean! A few years ago, I used to take psychadelics on a regular basis, almost every weekend, especially LSD, and I had a lot of great experiences with it. But a couple of years ago I had this incredibly strong experience, where i was shot out of this reality, and had a complete ego death, where I could feel and actually see exactly what you said, about being a god, and realizing that the things that make you who you are are an illusion, just like most of things in this reality, exactly as you described it, and for a moment it felt amazing, it felt like I could understand something bigger, that I previously couldn't, it felt like I had found a lot of answers to the universe, it felt great, i could understand that love was a solution, i felt the oneness. But then, after a while, i felt like it was starting to turn it's back on me, and punishing me for having seen all this. Also I started thinking about how unfair things are. because if I could have this amazing experience (not with the LSD, but with my life as a whole, since I live a very comfortable life), how can it be that so many people can't, and live miserable lives. I come from a third world country where there's a lot of inequality, but I'm privileged and had a good life. Anyways, the best trip of my life turned into the worst trip of my life, and I didn't want to deal with it anymore, and the trip went on for a while, but it was very bad. It felt like it was calling me to watch my own death, and even worse, my family's death, it felt as if it wanted me to face it. Since then, I almost stopped taking psychadelics, fearing something like this would happen again. I don't know if you're gonna read this, but I would like to know if you've ever had bad experiences similar to this, or what are you thoughts on this. Thank you again for this video!

@BR-pw9kv 4 года назад
TL;DR: I thought I was taking the red pill, but it ended up being more like a deep purple. Psychedelics can be taken too far. Speaking from experience. I have a family history of latent psychosis and didn't know until I was heavy into my psychedelics phase. My mind had broken. My entire system of logical deduction had broken down far after the psychedelics wore off. I was hearing patterns in speech and thought people who were speaking around me were saying the opposite of what came out of their mouths. Innocent conversations were turned sinister. He=She, to divert attention from those not listening carefully and "in the know". An extreme form of doublespeak was developing in my brain that I still think about to this day quite a bit. If you understood, you would say "I don't understand" and you would come up with a metaphor to progress the previous concept in a different way that also told the other conversationalist what it was that you were trying to convey in code. This fucked my worldview up so hard that I became a nervous paranoid wreck, went to a psych ward (where this was reinforced further, because, incidentally, some very powerful people in the criminal underworld legitimately use this when people are potentially listening in on conversation) and began applying this set of speech rules to everything, making it very difficult to communicate with anybody. I became lonely, scared, and confused. It took months of therapy and zombifying antipsychotics to reverse the effects of this and reaffirm reality. Please, if you do take psychedelics, ask your parents or other family members about family history of mental illness. Not all minds are a steel trap. Some are more like gallium.

Overall a good video that resonates with a lot of stuff I went through. However, I think a lot of people do go down the psychedelic rabbit hole a little too far. Psychedelics give the experience of insight and spiritual revelation but often generate profoundly bad ideas - there is a whole host of insane theories and ideas that have come out of psychedelic use and even some pretty twisted shit like murder and psychosis. Terrence McKenna himself had an insanely bad trip and towards the latter end of his life said a lot of things that were quite frankly bullshit and crazy. He said stuff like taking DMT will let you talk to inter-dimensional spirit elves. His "stoned ape" theory is an interesting idea but the fact is that it is mostly speculation and there isn't really scientific backing for it. The other problem with psychedelics is that the community is very reactive and resistant to criticism. They don't like talking about the negative effects of psychedelics or the crazy ideas people have gotten from them. I know, because I used to be one of these people. When you first start taking psychedelics they seem so amazing you don't question what you are "learning." Yet, as I have gotten older, studied more, and become smarter, I have realized that a lot of the stuff around the community is built around BS and a lot of the "insights" aren't actually that amazing. They induce post-trip mania that make you feel smarter and that you've learned something amazing, but I am not convinced they really do - the history of these compounds shows that most attempts to use them to try to transform society have failed. I should also note that the idea that psychedelics promote neuroplasticity/neurogenesis does not have any scientific evidence behind it yet as far as I can tell. Now don't get me wrong, there is 100% a history of bullshit drug propaganda in this country that has spread completely false information about psychedelics. However, we need to be careful not to react to this with pro-drug propaganda, which I feel like I lot of people in the psychedelic community and cannabis community have done. I know people who have gotten PTSD, psychosis, and permanent anxiety disorders from psychedelic use. Anyone interested more in this subject should google James Kent - last 10 episodes of dosenation. That podcast will tell you everything you need to know about the history of "psychedelic insight." This is not meant to be a criticism, just a warning and series of thoughts from someone who has researched this stuff extensively not only on my own but at my university.

@Harry Williams Yeah I have heard a lot of people make this claim but I am a little skeptical if this is an experience just in people's heads (a hallucination due to the drug) or if the elves really exist, which is what McKenna claimed. The more parsimonious explanation seems to be that it is in their heads, and James Kent who I mention in my original post researched this extensively and reports in the podcast that he was not able to replicate McKenna's experiences in people who hadn't already heard McKenna's theories, not one reported seeing DMT elves. I should also mention his theories went beyond DMT elves into some even crazier shit, too much to outline in a youtube comment really.

I will never forget the time I tried LSD and it helped me restore my relationship with my family. What was once before a distant and uncomfortable relationship with them, turned into me expressing myself more, and genuinely trying to get closer with them. I had to call my mother and tell her that I wanted to establish a better relationship, I wanted to know how she was feeling, what she was doing. I guess you can say it was a door that opened and showed me empathy that I never could really unlock by myself in my everyday consciousness. I guess I just needed to get pushed by something traumatic to get me to finally unlock the empathy I never knew I had within myself. I'm forever grateful.

When I think about how to explain the revelations and experiences you just did, I feel my heart race and my mind start to circulate in a confused way. I can't even fathom how to explain it to someone who hasn't tried psychs. After any attempt at doing so I see the confusion and need for better answers on that person's face. I'm definitely recommending this to my sober minded friends. I'd like to bring up that there are also people who I've tripped with and I'll try to discuss deeply about the time, yet the person can't say much more than "the colors were sick dude" and its there where I realize reality is different for almost all. Those who analyze and live according to what humans know and can prove and those who build up their own reality as they grow older. Those who build it up on their own interpretations of religion, self image, and society can not be challenged in any genuine way that psychs are known for. Because they themselves can not interpret what is r e a l.

I am a Christian that loves and promotes psychedelics, and I don’t think those ideas necessarily contradict each other. As a Christian, I believe psychedelics like cannabis and mushrooms are naturally occurring phenomena in nature that God created, and LSD is one step away. A little known fact is that LSD is synthesized from the ergot fungus, a common fungus that infects cultivated grains. I would classify myself as agnostic before I took psychs, and after I took them, I came to know the truth that is Christ Jesus. In other words, psychedelics brought me back from death and saved my relationship with God. Kind of ironic and not something that you hear every day. It was only under the influence of LSD that I started to perceive the other side, all around us and always close. I can pray or meditate sober, and perceive the presence of God. But when I smoke weed or take LSD it’s like being brought forth into the presence of God. And even if I’m wrong about God’s purpose for psychedelics, He can often times use bad situations to bring good outcomes. And even if my action of taking psychs was wrong, he made a good situation out of it by bringing me closer to Him, so that I might spread that knowledge to others who m if he listen. I think psychs give us a clarifies understanding of the Bible, God’s Word. I took psychedelics for the first time before I ever sat down and read the Bible for myself. But when I did read the Bible, I have found myself to have a deeper understanding of what God’s purpose for us is than a lot of other Christians. Forgive me if my perception is off, we can’t know someone else’s walk. BUT, in my experience coming back to the church and Christ, a lot of Christians here in America define their Christian status as someone who attends church worship once a week and sits in the pew for an hour listening to the pastor. I don’t think I would have read the Bible myself if I had not taken psychedelics. I would have put my faith in man, in a preacher, and not God. Christ is a person and we are called to have a relationship with him personally. It is Good that we have church and worship services, but to many Christians, the Church is the building, not the people. /end rant thanks for reading :) and God bless You

Similarly to me, I had tried DMT a while back that ended up bringing me closer to God. After I had done what I had did I felt like I had sinned deeply against God by taking the substance because it lead me to a place that is inexplainable and unachievable by physical means, I felt like I had bitten into the apple of eden and felt the convictions of my sin. Since that day, I began to experience episodes of sleep paralysis where I would see things in my sleep and what not, and I felt like I was being attacked by the enemy at one point. In deep repentance to God to forgive my sins I truly felt that he revealed himself to me in many ways and was able to cleanse me of the sins that had been burdening my mind with guilt. I still have trouble from abstaining sin, but I guess you could say that psychedelics made me come to realize the graveness of sin, and that we are all going to be attoned for the sins we commit when we die, which is why it is crucial to trust in God and believe in Christ so that he may grant you everlasting life for coming to believe that he would relieve you of your sinful acts, if you consciously decided to live apart from sin, and more like a child of God that he desires for all of his creations to be. He gave each and everyone of us life the moment we were formed in the womb, and I truly believe that it is our duty as people to remember this when you walk life, and always try to be grateful for the open ended, many possibility life that God has granted for each and every one of us.

I loved the video from the start. My explanation of psychedelics is that it connects the concious and subconcious mind. Whether i take a microdose or a common dose (never done more than that because im kinda afraid out of respect and i think ive gotten a lot already from these substances) i always feel like the things i kinda know i ought to do become more obvious. For example, clean my room to lower stress, wash the dishes to help my parents, stop using my phone before sleep, do yoga and meditation, spend my time wisely, set some time aside to do something that makes me laugh, etc. The best way to describe its effects for me in one word would be clairvoyance, kinda like the spell in skyrim that tells you which way to go 😂, it clears things up for me and it also increases my creativity and productivity. I know it might sound like im putting these substances on a pedestal but dont think its all rainbows and roses. Most of the times at the start of my trips i feel rather anxious and afraid, as if it revealed all my insecurities to me in a way i couldnt avoid them. It essentially leads to a healing experience but if youre not ready for that then youll just tell everyone that it made you feel bad and that theyre bad for you. Sometimes ignorance is bliss, but ignorance wont let you experience euphoria and thats better than bliss. I'm gonna finish this long comment with a quote from a book i love, The Kyballion "The lips of wisdom are closed except to the ears of understanding". Also please dont do psychedelics or any other drug for that matter if youre less than 18, your pre frontal cortex needs to develop a bit so you dont have poor focus later on in life.

Isn't love just a chemically induced impulse to be closer to a particular person because we have considered them a worthy mate? Aren't we all just driven by the mechanics of the chemical processes in our body? How are we able to think a thought that wasn't produced by the cause and effect of the parts that make our whole? Surely the concept of consciousness and free will is just an attempt to rationalize agency over a determinsitic system, right? This is my fundamental issue with spirituality. MRI scans have shown activity in the brain when thoughts are had. Thoughts take energy and don't exist outside of the physical reality. If our medical knowledge was sufficiently advanced we could determine the specific electrochemical/hormonal/whatever cause for each aspect of our conciousness and the cause for that cause etc etc, tracing back to our very conception. There appears to be no room for spirituality. Any external influence on our thoughts surely would invalidate the laws of thermodynamics. The concept of inspiration and imagination are just borne from a lack of understand behind the mechanics of their existence rather than something bestowed upon us from on high, right? Would love to hear what you think.

Still one of the toughest things for me about exploration is being unable to properly share experiences with the methods of communication we have access to. I always appreciate when someone can work out a way to convey these ideas in human speak. It's vexing to me sometimes, the level to which people reject and disregard these experiences. There's this whole world to explore just right there, but nobody wants to even acknowledge it's existence. Very frustrating. I also feel so worried to share these experiences for risk of ridicule, which is misguided, but I suppose in a way, understandable. Hey Berry I had the exact same experience you had with psychedelics and religion. I was raised as a Christian Pentecostal and as I grew into my teenage years I began to question "Gods" morality and reasonings. This all changed for me when I took psilocybin mushrooms and had an amazing experience, something I was wholly unprepared for. I, too, felt like I was everything and that I was a god but my experience went a step further. At the same time, I understood all the reasons behind people's decisions and ways of living. I felt as if I was everybody in the world and everybody was me. I understood that everybody is the same no matter what. Whatever religion someone chooses, it is based on the innate fear of death and the unknown that's embedded in everyone. It was a life-changing experience and though terrifying, very much needed in my ignorant mentality. I haven't tried LSD yet but I don't feel it is necessary in my life at the moment. I feel very clear. The big life questions still trouble me like everybody else. I just see things differently. Maybe I'm crazy because of it. Maybe we both are. But now I know I'm not alone and for that I thank you.

Psychedelics are to me the most important experience one can have, and this video just reinforces it because i passed through a journey in life very similar to yours, coming from an catholic background and always questioning things since I was young, psychedelics showed me that much of the thoughts that I had where common through people like minded and who took similar substances (mushrooms/lsd). For me the ego is an evolutionary step, helping us to figure things out and work together, but also being highly corruptible by our own mediums. So yeah, some drugs are good kids, and people know that and that's why they are illegal.

I had very similar experiences growing up. The unsatisfactory answers, the skepticism and angst. What shocked and even scared me is that I had nearly the EXACT SAME experience as you on a mushroom trip. I experienced ego death, the familiarity and "realization" that I am god, you and everybody else are god, and we all simulated ourselves as humans to experience what "being human" is like. I had no idea that other people have had such incredibly similar experiences. Thank you for sharing this video.

And I have a line of philosophy that could potentially give you a world view that pulls from scientific bases, and appeals to your human tendencies towards religiousness. Hermeticism. Do a bit of research, read some books, or just listen to the 4 hour lecture done by Terence McKenna. From what I've seen talking a lot to Jehovah's Witnesses, their group actively discourages thinking for yourself. There's one (weird) church interpretation of the Bible and you cannot question it (even though it's contradictory). A lot of Pentecostal churches are like this too. Whereas others will encourage you to study the Bible for yourself and test what church leaders teach you (as Acts 17:11 commends).

Just as a question. How are you sure that when you take psychedelics you see 'the truth'. Don't they trick your brain in a way? Why are these substances more valid than science or religion?
@CaffeinatedFrostbite
@CaffeinatedFrostbite 4 года назад
thats my issue. A long standing belief system is crazy but magic brain altering substances arent.
@titanscar2183
@titanscar2183 4 года назад
It could have something to do with the fact that we've been using these substances since before recorded human history in one form or another. There's also the very real possibility that psychedelics are directly tied to human evolution (see the Stoned Ape Theory) I don't think they can be any less or more valid than science since, well, it's "science" that dictates the substance works as it does. I don't believe doing things like LSD reveal some magic door to fix all your problems and solve every question, but I do think it provides a different perspective and in a world where knowledge is the single most important thing (in my opinion) that offers much more to society than religion. I won't bash religious people or be a dick and say "haha flying spaghetti monster" because that doesn't help the debate. In fact all of my interactions with religious people have been positive. I have a church I visit back in Ohio from time to time and it's one of the nicest groups of people I've ever met, and I'll never wish that they lose their religion because as outdated as religion is it offers a lot of positives to the world. However, again, I think that psychedelics offer much more to an individual than religion in most cases. I don't think it's a matter of which one is right or wrong, which one is more believable, etc. I personally believe it's a matter of experience and discovery. The world is a beautiful, scary, weird fucking place and we're all going on the same shitty ride regardless of if we're praying to Allah, taking 3 tabs of acid or watching some random youtube video. The important thing is the experiences we share.

Hey Barry, your video popped up in my recommendations so I gave it a look. Your experience is very similar to mine with psychedelics. The feeling of being one with the universe and God is called 'monism' and I also gained that wisdom from psychedelics. However, I also knew in my gut that this wasn't the whole of the story. A few months ago, I had a mystical experience that nudged me towards Hinduism. Since then, I've been shocked at how aligned my psychedelic experiences are with the philosophies of Hinduism. Oneness with the universe, reincarnation, genetic knowledge and non-attachment are all key in understanding Hinduism. I truly feel like I've found a way to be religious and truly believe it (I grew up Catholic and denounced it before high school). I feel like I've found hidden truths and since then, my life has changed significantly for the better. I hope you give it some research, and I recommend you start with the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Find a good English analysis of it on RU-vid unless you know how to read Sanskrit lol. Good luck.

@@slayimm1469 The thing that got me was "ego boundaries" (we see this mentioned a lot in Eva, especially that one episode where Shinji's soul gets stuck in the Eva unit) and even when they boot up the entry pods, the colors are very psychedelic in nature. @@AidanChickTV yea ive been doing some searching online and see a few people have noticed this about evangelion. The creator was depressed when he created the series, and even said that he poured all his emotion into the piece, and i see it. i Saw evangelion at the peak of my depression, i hated myself and blamed others, not wanting to ever be close to someone, as they would hurt me, and i would hurt them, i remember the trip, one of my loved ones ( an ex) was talking to me, and addressing all the fucked up shit i thought about and how i am just a crazy person, i remember feeling dread, and the desire to end it, but a thing, a voice told me that for me to end myself, would be like me ending this universe, i didnt understand but the being answered right after a pause of how i was god. And not only was i god, but so where each person in this world, all the people i love, all the people i hate are also gods, because they are all me. He told me how in this world, we are all one, but as we lost our spiritual side, so did our connection to each other weaken, the compasion slowly eroding. I remember seeing EVA and them talking about the LCL liquid, and was just completely taken back about how thats basically our ego, in a very simple visual way to see it, almost like Hideaki Anno was helping us by screaming this at our faces. It made so much sense LCL= the liquid that is in all beings, that we all return to, that keeps us being us, that once our "ap shields are down" or once our "ego"' is dissolved, how we once more become one, how we once again are part of each other , just like when everyone became joined in the LCL. Shinji manages to regain his ego, he manages to stay himself, why? Because he understands it now, he understands what it means to be a human, to hurt and be hurt, to feel, to explore, to be alive. I wanted to try watching evangelion on lsd, but i dont think im prepared for it. Hideaki Anno is a freaking genius.
@AidanChickTV
@AidanChickTV 4 года назад
Slaying Immortal yesss exactly what I was thinking with the LCL and honestly the whole point of Eva thematically. There are a few interpretations and honestly I don’t know which one I like best. I guess looking at all of them is the most enjoyable for me. I’ve written a few projects inspired by Eva now and every time I feel like I uncover a bit more of what Anno was trying to get at. And it’s what you said it’s that idea that we’re all god and the difference between fantasy (when you’re on psychedelics) and reality in which we have those boundaries. The show has honestly changed my outlook on life. I don’t know why I’m so drawn to psychedelic media. Eva, 2001, Pink Floyd, just to name a few. Haven’t ever tried psychedelics myself but I get the impression that they’re right at home in my idea of perfect artistic beauty. Anything psychedelic seems to uncover some deeper truth about life for me and I guess that’s what draws me in.

Your thoughts basically mirror my own on this topic, which considering the single consciousness hypothesis isn't surprising. I've yet to try psilocybin, however THC produces a similar effect if you go hard enough. I'm deeply intrigued by the whole topic. I suggest reading *The Poppy War* by R.F Kuang, it explores the topic in a thoughtful, dark, and very clever way. There is so much knowledge about psychedelics that has been lost to annals of history. We need to break the stigma surrounding psychedelics because without it we are closing ourselves off from a piece of our reality and acting like it doesn't exist. Science is all about if someone else can replicate your results. If so many users of various psychedelics report similar spiritual experiences, then there must be some basis of science. More research is essential.

I’ve been in and out of therapy my entire life up until this point, and now i was no longer as depressed as I’ve been my entire life. Within the last year I’ve fully gotten my own life together and no longer go to therapy. I have a good job, i have my own living space, and im going to college soon.
