@@bulb9970That’s basically the point for some of his trailers, especially with this one. They don’t call Alfred Hitchcock, the Master of Suspense, for nothing. And another thing, as he was about to explain certain actions or even his characters, and such, he left it for us to see what had happened, throughout that movie. That’s movie magic from Hitchcock himself, and frankly, if I ever saw a trailer like this one today (which the odds can be very low), I would simply think that they used his magic, to display it right in front of us.

Hitchcock knew how to deliver and sell, he was very confident in his directing abilities. If you wanted to know, then you had to buy a ticket. Yet he built up so much suspense and curiosity in his own trailers. We need directors and movies like this today, I've honestly been watching movies from the 1930's through the 80's for the last decade by choice, and very very rarely am I disappointed

This trailer is PERFECT. It shows so much, but nothing at all! It alludes to points in the movie that hitchcock is obviously disturbed by, so he doesn't go into detail and skips over it. This makes us really want to know what he was talking about. Or when he looked in the closet and made a shocked and disturbed face, but didn't describe or show us what was inside. When he tells us about the son's room, we really want to know what's in there, but he glosses over it. This trailer is a masterpiece.
@Anrainerstaat

+Maplebaconz No, the trailer is giving away a lot. Just think of how the film is kind of a road movie throughout the first half hour. When the woman arrives at the motel there is nothing to indicate that it will be of major importance to the film. It is just a stop by on the road. After watching the trailer, a viewer will be waiting for the motel to finally come up for the first half hour. I'm glad I watched Psycho unprepared.

Same. What he was doing was conveying the emotion of the terrorized through six minutes of quiet British prose (so, the same calm you have when you are taking a shower) with the sudden interruption of the most horrible thing imaginable, with music and text to perfectly punctuate the split. If you are at all empathic then you feel that terror with her just for a moment. Gah.

You don't see movie trailers like this anymore- the way Hitchcock builds his audiences up for certain scenes, places, as well as characters, throughout this particular trailer, as well as some of his other ones, it gets them suspicious and anxious about what needed to be explained, before they actually see the movie. Like he always does, he doesn't give away too much, since he's always expecting his audiences to be either frightened, shocked, or even terrified, just by watching this movie and his others.

DIGIMEI It helps that he talks about them (like "the victim" stumbling down the stairs) as opposed to actually showing the scenes. That way, you as an audience member might forget by the time the movie plays, or when you see the detective going up the stairs it adds to the suspense since Hitch described it, and you are waiting to see just how it plays out. You know, as opposed to the trailer for THE MARTIAN, where they show Matt Damon survive, "science the sh-t out of stuff", send a message *and* we see the rescue mission heading for him. Like someone in the AICN talkback put it: "Great... now all I need to see is the final 20 minutes."

Just finished watching this classical masterpiece on my mobile and it's impossible to describe how much i have enjoyed this movie. now i just want to write one thought here that, i have been watching this movie's trailer since i was child.there was time i can stil remember in 2006 to 2009 when the trailer of this movie used to come sony pix where one bathing girl got killed and this movies was always used to schedule in late night. at that time i was just 11-12 years old. but after many year when i grown up and started watching hollywood movies then i came to know that this movie is one of the psychological suspence thriller movie ever made in hollywood so i wanted to watch this movice since 2018 but for some reasons i have not watched this movie till today. but today i got some free time and watched this spectacular movie which is absolutely splendid piece of writting and direction. 23/05/2022 Monday 12:54PM

One of the best trailers I've ever seen. Hitchcocks takes you, teases you and invites you to watch his movie on a excelent way. The only thing I would want to get rid of, are the happy melody's.

The fact that he sounds psychotic in a way because of how he describes the Gruesome murders then says "let's move along" with happy music is what gets to you. And the ending jumpscare is what you didn't expect to end it with. He was a true genius of his time!

The genius aspect of this trailer is it mentions nearly everything about the film in a subtle manner. But at the same time, people don't realize it until they watch the film.

The master of suspense .A genius at selling his movies to the public . He wanted to keep the mother part so secret that he started a rumor in the press before production began that he was looking to cast the role of Mrs Bates

He is wonderfully natural in front of a camera. I’ve watched Hitchcock in interviews but delivering scripted lines, he can be a delightful, English gentleman who slowly turns very sinister. Was Hitchcock an actor early on in his career? His delivery of, “the bathroom”, was perfect. To think there was a time where no one knew what that (i.e. the shower scene) was in reference to.
