This song is a triple for the rap game, a woman, and drug addiction. He sometimes calls the rap game and drug addiction the other "loves/ladies" in his life.
He’s rapping as the Slim Shady character in this song, Slim Shady is goofy and silly but also violent and crazy that’s why he was rapping about murder at the end of the song. The album this song is from is also called Music to be Murdered by, and was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock. This was the opening song on the B Side of the album.
The whole song is a double entendre as if he’s killing the rap game (Music To Be Murdered By), which can also be interpreted as a toxic relationship. Lots of his toxic relationship songs are the same thing. Check 25-to-life for example where he does the same thing. Loved the reaction!
This album came out in 2020. This is probably one of the most tame horror core descriptors he has ever written. You need to go way back to the height of his horror core days. Some of that shit will make you not sleep for days, but it's brilliant and horrifying at the same time 😘
Well I'm finally super early to one of these videos. Eminems daughter Haley Jade just started a new podcast a few days ago. Where she talks about some of the stuff from her past. I only watched a few minutes of it but looks like something you might be interested in to hear more about her upbringing and personal life
Eminem's music has been my therapy for so many years, decades in fact! Now years later his music is better than ever and his music is storytelling at it's finest. I'm really enjoying your reaction shows, much respect from over here in Ireland! I hope everyone takes care of there mental health, stay safe and take care.
The entire opening to the second verse is a double entendre on Imagine Dragons, the band. He names two or three of their songs and then “her by her hair is all I imagine draggin” to cap it off
This is from music to be murdered by. My favorite Eminem albums as he is on another level technically than ever before. The both albums pay homage to Alfred Hitchcock. But the story telling and penmanship on the albums is tops. Music to be murdered by side A and side B, classics in the making
Career and rap game are one in the same. The triple is the obvious story he tells throughout about a toxic relationship, drug addiction and career/rap game.
I honestly consider this to be a double-meaning song (or well... maybe nto so 'double') about his love for Hiphop. He continuously used "she" as a stand-in for hiphop, with the love-hate tug-of-war he has with it. It saved his life and it also, when he got famous, made his life miserable. But rapping (according to him through his lyrics - maybe not 100% accurate) gives him satisfaction and distraction and pure joy, so he can't just quit doing it and he said multiple times that he can't do anything else, really. He's not good at much else. There are of course songs where I'd say he is talking about a real woman and a real relationship, maybe not his own but someone's relationship (like in Love the Way you lie or Coffin with Jessie Reyes), so it's not always easy to distinguish between them. But here, I'm pretty sure that it's just about Hiphop. Especially because he calls her "the love of my life". Please listen to "25 to life" to understand why I'm so certain about this. Also "Seduction", but "25 to life" is just much more obvious. AND to top it of: hiphop is rightly considered to be the music of the black Americans. It saved his life and used to make him tough when he felt weak and useless. Rapping gave him strength and a purpose and a dream. It was magical. So it is: Black Magic. (well... at least I see it like that. Maybe he doesn't, though... I would be surprised if he didn't at least think of it)
I wish I could find a therapist like you!! Hearing you talk about the psychological healing and journey really does resonate with me and I feel like I do a lot of self evaluation and self reflection but as you say... an outsiders perspective is always helpful! Thank you for providing your insights and wisdom! ❤️
Hearing you talk in these videos is so soothing. I’m like, 99% sure I have paranoia and anxiety but haven’t talked to anyone yet, because I don’t have insurance. I’m too afraid I won’t be able to afford it.. it’s stressful.
Lovely reaction tom, this duo are my phenomenal together. Wish you would eventually react to Last one standing its one of his most recent ones with alot of great artists! Keep up the eminem grind!
What up doc? Still loving this journey. Lol, your reaction at the end.... Keep in mind, whenever Em raps about relationships, (without mentioning Kim specifically) he's almost always rapping about the rap game as a double entendre. 25 to life, would be a great 1 for you to react to. You'll see it clearly by the end of that, & when you listen to this track again. Nothing to do with an actual relationship, it's his relationship with hip hop
I love your reaction therapy, Milord. Your input and breakdown of bars really helps me remember the specific lines that Mr. Mathers used to help me through such dark times. I wish my therapists would've been as good as you. Thanks to you, Master nick, and to all of the reaction therapy community! Much love 💜
Ohhh!!!! Looking forward to this one Tom!!! Em and Skylar are great together! Hope you guys are well and taking it easy in the Texas heat!!! We’re back in Scotland now after 3 fantastic weeks in Florida! 🌞🍹✈️ Although it was such a busy holiday - we need another vacation to get over it! 😂 now that covid restrictions have eased between the UK and USA, it’s a perfect time to visit! As long as you’re vaccinated, you’re good to go!👍 no pre-flight testing required!👍 I saw something a few days ago that you might be interested in and meant to send you a message - then forgot! Lol 🤷♀️ I’ll blame the heat!!! 🤪 anyway, Hailie (Em’s middle daughter) has just launched her own podcast, the first episode was a couple of days ago and it was really interesting! She’s always been really private, just like Em - so we know very little about their home life or daily routine. She’s called it ‘Just A Little Shady’, which I think’s a great name 😂 - and she talks about her childhood, her life now, family, school, friendships etc. I think you’ll really like it. She certainly has an extremely strong work ethic and has taken her studies very seriously over the years! I’ll link it below to save you looking for it! Take care and catch up soon! ❤️ Edit: added link below for Haillie’s pod! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2GeuD6hmYXs.html
A lot of people already made the comment about the song having this double meaning, and at the end you can hear the audio from the beginning of the side A from the album Music to be murder by. This one is a dark one from Eminem if you listen everything by the letter. Sorry you heard the song out of context and I appreciate your honest reaction Tom!!
Music to be murdered by is also the name of the album. If you listen to the entire album, the songs all go together. This one is not a far cry from Slim Shady or Marshall Mathers. He openly discusses his lyrics and how he doesn't actually mean WHAT he says all the time, however, I agree, as someone who's been in a violent DV situation, his lyrics can be triggering. I still consider him my favorite rapper.
Some of Em's stuff (especially his old discography) can be hard to digest. He uses "Slim Shady" as an alter ego explanation for when he talks about controversial things that are crazy, at surface value. Granted, these concepts are almost always metaphorical. The song "25 to life" is a great example. You think he's talking about a woman, when really he's talking about his career in the Rap Game.
This is a metaphor for Rap Music, not a woman. He uses a woman to represent rap music a lot in his music, especially if he doesn't name a woman (like his ex-wife, Kim or his mother). Just a metaphor, so no worries. He's just really good at telling stories so it seems like it's real
Eminem has made one mistake in his career and it was using "abracadabra" in this song when he could have used "avada kedavra". That's super black magic, and killing by witchcraft.
@@anomaly3215 Yeah it's such a nerd thing to do intertextual references in a rap song. And it's such a nerd thing to have seen movies with box office of 7,7 billion USD or read books that have sold more than 500 million copies worldwide, especially if one has a child just the right age to have lived through the biggest Harry Potter hype. In fact he used to read those books to his daughter as bedtime stories. Also have made references to Harry Potter in the past.
You absolutely need to do "a little piece of heaven" by avenged sevenfold it's very dark but it's right up your alley look up the meaning behind the song being made
I would love it if you reacted to Kill for you - Skylar Grey ft. Eminem and also Coffin - Jessie Reyez ft. Eminem. Both songs give a beautiful yet disturbing picture of a toxic relationship.
Yea Eminem is my # 1. Noone is even close.. then nf and 21 piolets and and Tom McDonald. Lol I got gifted this sub but I think I have to keep it lol nice trick. 😅 and 🤣 ♥️
Oh...Em's first love...rap! When he was coming up..you had to be different to be successful! Nowadays they all sound the same! There are a few exceptions...but a lot of them...same. The..."how come you are never as good on your feet as you are in bed"?! lol. Love or Great sex.....Have to be careful to separate the two! The albums theme is Music To Be Murdered By! Eminem has always been fascinated by Hitchcock movies & thats where the that theme comes from. He watches documentaries on serial killers....etc. My daughter is the same way! lol. Dont take it seriously!
Found it really odd as hilarious that you were bouncing when the beat hit. The album is, music to be murdered by, all dark & horror like tracks. You should listen to the tracks in an album in order as albums usually tell a story throughout. Sidenote, check out Kim by Eminem. Extremely dark and perfect for analysis.
@@michaelsaylor4903 Dats not how it works it’s just like a Metaphor he’s intentionally doing it but if we look deeper or surface level u can take it as either or but Em is aware wat he’s doing with his pen so it’s Both!
Appreciate you sir, keep grinding and growing. I think the song Fine Line from Eminem should fit well in your field of expertise and that you would love it. It's an amazing song that makes him ponder about his life in the most skillful way, you should react to it. Have a beautiful day.
