This actually is another house on the other side of Columbus from where Tyler and Josh grew up - the people in this video were fans who won a raffle to be in this video - they filmed it during their tour stop in Columbus Tyler and Josh's childhood homes are in the video for Stressed Out - both families have since moved out - Tyler's childhood home actually just went up for sale again and one of the selling points in the write up for the house was that it was featured in the music video You definitely should check out their session video for this song - The Hype Berlin Session - its a video blog showing how Tyler creates music as he recreates this song at a studio in Germany

This song actually gets to me emotionally more than a lot of their other ones because I feel like I still don't have a "kind" of my own. I'm a Millennial mom with no village. My parents passed away and my siblings are in their own world. I'm trying not to believe the hype in my own life.

Getting real tired of people saying you don't know what you're talking about. You do just fine. The songs mean what they mean. To you. The worst part about being a TOP fan is that way too many TOP fans are pretentious know-it-all's who think they are way smarter than they are. And obviously they aren't TOP fans if they want to impose THEIR interpretation on you. The rest of us apologize for their presumptuous nature.

@Lisa Daly exactly. Next time someone tells you what you should take from any song, ask them, "What's a Kitchen Sink to Tyler"? And if they can't answer, which we all know they won't be able to, tell them to have a great day forcing their opinion on someone else, smile, and go back to listening to some killer music that means whatever it means to you. It really sucks that Twenty One Pilots is the best band ever. Yet has some of the worst fans ever. Like 73 6% of them suck. That other 26.4% though.... them some real ones. 😉

@Reaction Therapy I mean it when I say ALL of you deserve literally no hassle from children who think they know so much because they were one of 16 in a basement hearing Tyler tune his first xylophone or whatever back before he started shooting free-throws for blah blah blah... You're an actual psychotherapist. I have a feeling your insight is probably more accurate than you think. And more educated than the parroting of some snippet some know it all heard in a 4:30AM thursday morning radio show broadcast in which the boys told one of 10 stories about how they met also.... oh and the super insight only they gleaned from said broadcast.

To me, it represents going back to your roots. Not letting fame get into your head. Always remember where you came from. There is another guy on RU-vid that is a music teacher and he did a video about this and was actually an extra in the crowd!

That's pretty much exactly what I took from it as well. You're big now with sycophants on your side. Hyping you up all the time. If you buy into their BS you won't get critical/negative feedback. Ever. And your art will suck for it. You just won't know it.

They hype is about the music industry. They don't need to go the direction the industry wants them to go, they don't need to know where they are going, they just do what sounds right (hear my way around). They will find their kind and their kind will find them.

Yesterday on therapy we were doing EMDR trying to process some negative feelings about me getting a new position at work. Anxiety feelings, fear of failure, and stuff like that and today while I watched this reaction, I went back to yesterday and this song along with the video started making more sense to me. I've always loved the outro of the song and the video bc for me it means hope and it means everything will fall back into place on its own but now everything positive that my therapist said to me yesterday is here in this song and video. And I'm crying lol

It’s about their rise to fame and how that can be a trap for celebrities. They start to believe their own hype and then lose touch with their fans and get knocked back down. He is saying he’s not going to fall into that trap. And no matter how big they get. They are just a band playing in their living room. They’re not going to get wrapped up in their own hype.

Great reaction and great catches! Yep, don't try to overthink it. You're familiar with TOP now, you'll catch it. No worries. And clikkies will supportingly add to what you share. As the song says, just don't believe the hype. Would love it if you react to The Hype Berlin - same song but totally different. And... it has the stadium crowd you wanted in this one 😉 In the vid there's a lot of little nuggets, so def get why you want to pause and look around! Personally, my fave part is how they move from an intimate, in-house group, to a garage band, to a higher level, to literally blowing the roof off the place. But when they fall, they're able to reconnect to each other a piece it all back together with a little bit 'o Bandito tape!! Oh, and, of course, how it starts with just Tyler and a Screen on his chest and ends with Josh coming in with a Stress-free Capri Sun for the assist. Great reaction, Tom! 💛|-/💛

Please react to Elevator by Jonghyun. There’s a live performance with english subtitles but also a regular english subtitle lyric video is fine! I think you’ll find it really interesting. But react to the song before you look up Jonghyun because I want you to go into it unbiased. Elevator makes me cry every time and it’s a very telling representation of his mind at the time he wrote it.
