Hey guys. '05 PT Cruiser convertible owner here... *** ONE Thing every video I've watched seems to omit ONE Important Tid Bit... There is a reason for the hydraulic pump reservoir to be low on fluid... "WHY??" And, how to trace possible leaks, bad seals... bad lift... EVERY VIDEO SHOWS FILLING THE Pump Reservoir but, not how to get to the lines to troubleshoot the root of , main cause of the problem...?? Sure, My top worked, after refilling the pump... After 4-5 times opening and closing... Back to the Drawing Board. One step forward, three steps back/ I'm frustrated as all get out. Chrysler will NOT give up any Diagnostics without going into the shop. How long did your top last, after this video, before it failed?? Again?

I've had my 06 convertible now for about 6 years now. problem free & despite all the rattle from some 'PeckerHead Kumstain' a few posts below dribbling on with it's "most berated cars on the scene in Australia" , there's a select little market of us here luving owning em'.

Few tips on syringes/tubes. Someone posted on FB a kit with syringes and connecting tubes. Unfortunately the tube was too big. I took a PB blaster straw and connected with a tubing connector. It flowed so much faster and cleaner. On the right side you can see an opening where the straw can pop through directly into the reservoir. I unfortunately filled it to the max several times and the top barely moved. I’m going to try manually opening it. But where did all the fluid go? I would attempt to open the hood and all the fluid would be gone after trying for a few minutes.

Cup a Coffee and a Nice drive with BTP with the Top Down through the countryside.......no better way to Start the Week!

I have already figured out how to refill the hydraulic fluid but it doesn’t take long for it to be empty again. Like after 4 or 5 uses so doesn’t that mean the lines have a leak somewhere and how would I fix that?

I actually did this on my 2007 cruiser. It worked great for about a week then nothing. Reservoir empty. So I got back to it and got it to open and close and nothing again. Reservoir empty again. I filled it completely, opened the top and reservoir empty again. Since I'm working alone I wasn't able to open and close the top manually. I'm at a loss. Hoping to get some help to bleed the system and get the top working again. But this was a super helpful video. Thanks!

Nice fix! Leave a note in the glove box referring to this video so the new owner knows how to do it again in a couple years lol.

your heroine kit 😂. speaking of syringes here another cheap easy fix - when out fishing on the shore or boat and you have ypur worm on the hook use a small syringe like for insulin shots with a skinny short needle and stick the worm and put a small amount of air into the worm . when you remove the needle the worms body will seal up the hole and the worm will float under water 😁. speaking of the 90s - pump ! pump up the jam ! pump pump it up!

Can you just leave it to where you manually put top up or down if you don't wanna deal with the rest of that crap by loosening that screw in the trunk? Nice vid brothers 👍 just got it mine is a 06 and just deliver pizza in it 😂 any advice is appreciated in advance just don't wanna pull the seats and panels out replacing the actuators as I don't see any leaks in the motor itself and fluid was just added three days ago I'd rather just prefer to do manual from here on out if I choose not to repair...

I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw you guys working on a PT Cruiser..these cars are the most berated cars on the scene in Australia. No offence Jaybo, but down here every PT owner is "special", they travel in packs to reduce the ridicule, the owners all dress up in 60s gear and more than half sport a flag or an airbrushed wolf head, or both...denim jackets and jeans etc no matter what the event, they all park together too ...Its bizarre...On the upside , you guys got a GT option and even a turb on a 2.4...pretty sure we got a 2.0 litre snooze fest thats even slower as an auto. You guys need to find a sub name for these fix-it videos too while Im talking smack...Im quite enjoying the time watching Jaybo fix stuff while Blake accuses him of being a heroin addict...I wont lie, I laughed pretty hard at the randomness, blame it on the hangover Blake. As mentioned, you guys live in a beautiful place, somewhere Id love to settle...and race Barracudas out the back of town...I might even have Scatmans number, Id be keen to find out :D Keep up the good work boys...we love it
