PT / Silent Hills Analysis 

Guillermo del Toro in an interview said that for silent hills, he and Kojima had planned for the game to do something like psycho mantis, the metal gear boss who broke the fourth wall and played with the player, how incredible it would have been to be able to play it.

actually yuurei are just ghosts (albeit ghosts of people who did not meet a very happy ending), onryou are the vengeful ghosts you are looking for. the white clothes worn by the ghosts are usually funeral dress.

Did you see the Boundary Break video that shows that Lisa is always tied behind the player, like she literally sticks to the back of thr player as soon as you pick up the flashlight, it's such a cool and unnerving touch.

Great commentary on a great series. I have begun to notice a trend of umbilical cords in Kojima games though. Heh.

Do you really want to watch this video before bed on a Sunday night? Yes, yes I do.

I've considered that Lisa herself wounded herself in her abdomen and took out her own eye because she was either assaulted or had an affair (the red shoe could hint at it being an affair or a perceived affair since the color red has many meanings including rage, passion, intense emotions, blood, power, the feminine aspect, blood, life and death as well as the old label of 'scarlet woman'/unfaithful or immoral woman) that resulted in pregnancy. The red shoe she wears could be something she wore but it could also be from the husband's mind on how he views his wife. Yet she's wearing white which could be a sign of her being innocent of what her husband perceives her to be and there's more white than red on her as far as her clothing. I don't think it's entirely impossible that Lisa became mentally unstable if she wasn't from the start for her to try to give herself an abortion out of shame, disgust or simply to hide it from her husband or get back his approval. It's interesting to me if Lisa did those things herself due to guilt, mental illness or severe abuse/brainwashing of the husband that drove her to do those things to herself and her unborn child because it's somehow more horrifying, shocking and less obvious. That the fetus isn't fully developed and in the bathroom sink along other things seen in the bathroom plus Lisa's appearance and what's revealed vaguely about the husband could imply (among many things) that a home abortion may have been attempted but it ended badly or the husband killed Lisa and the unborn baby in a fit of rage when he learned of her condition Back on what Muse is saying may be the case with Lisa, what may have happened to her may have been revisiting the fear women have of being objectified and having no control over their own bodies and the threat of men (in Lisa's case her boss and husband) as women can fear them to be. It makes me think of movies like Stepford Wives and Rosemary's Baby a little bit. I'd have loved for Silent Hill to revisit the female fears even if only through one non-player character or monster rather than the player or the whole game theme like Silent Hill 3 did. Either way the relationship between Lisa and her husband seems to be a toxic if not a possibly abusive one even before Lisa's death. That she's wearing a red item and that she was the one working and her husband wasn't may indicate an imbalance of power perceived by the man at least that many men tend to be insecure or feel threatened by: a woman being the bread winner. This can make a man feel emasculated and less than a man and build resentment and anger that can turn into hatred. Or perhaps Lisa was willfully more dominant in the relationship and was the abuser who had affairs until her husband snapped, possibly by becoming pregnant from a lover and thus making him a failure in another aspect: being virile and having children. It's too bad Silent Hills was cancelled, so now we'll never know. I wouldn't mind a Silent Hill diving into the masculine side of subconscious fears as SH3 did for women.

I do find it quite interesting that the unborn baby refers to the husband as his dad, possibly implying the husband was in fact the child's biological father. Lisa's boss taking notice of her and the child coming soon after could be the husband's interpretation, and that he killed his wife and children over a misunderstanding. It would be a very fitting story for Silent Hill.

I like the theory that Kojima made this knowing Konami would fire him and the number 204863 one, but people don't talk much about the one of this not being a Silent Hill game at all but a nightmare Snake was having while he was in a coma after the events of Ground Zeroes, you can even see Chico in one of the trailers of PT, Silent Hills just being teased at the end

What are your thoughts on the radio dialogue? I know you said it’s possible that the husband killed Lisa because he believed she cheated on him with the manager (on top of his alcoholism), but have you also seen the theory that he might have been mind controlled (an MK Ultra type situation) as well as many other husbands who committed murders? I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on this, and maybe other aspects of the PT demo as well. imagine the last moments of the game is you walking through all of the "familiar" parts of silent hill suddenly norman reedus starts "flickering" showing glimpses of harry, james heather and henry showing your character is connected with them the character reaches the highway.. harry sees him and he crashes idk that would be cool to me lol

Nice. Good video as always. Also thought another interesting subject to cover might be prisons in Downpour. The Devil Pit Mines are known as Earth Prison according to one sign along the tour and though I haven't finished, several main locations might also be prison like as well. Being outside the prison may not mean he's as free as he thought. Sounded like a fun topic.

This game could have been so promising :( it seems like an incredible good concept for the game and story

I do have to wonder. It's not often we see other people's preseptions change the psychology of a monster. The fact that Lisa says to gauge an eye rather than her husband almost feels like a confession. As well we only see people become monsters if they themselves are guilty, rather than harboring false guilt. In example while Lisa becomes a monster it is threw her physical role in Alisa's torment. She maintains a sense of self but becomes a monster none the less. In contrast the people who feel guilty but aren't usually just die in Silent Hill, in example Angela. As such PT's Lisa must either have some legitimate guilt or is a complete fabrication made for the player or summoned by someone. Monsters don't just appear for no reason in Silent Hill. They come from something and for something.

I heard a thing before that Lisa's one heel is meant to symbolize the one sided relationship with her boss, and how she was used and abused.

I remember being frustrated cuz you had to do very specific stuff in order to progress or finish it. But the first 15 to 20 minutes was one of the most scariest and unsettling gaming moments.

This demo proved that it's still possible to do a psychologically terrifying game with awesome graphics, it's such a shame it was stopped

This is a real great breakdown...also I believe this was a game that was inspired by the eye..which also tells you to gourge out Lisa eyes..which I believe was able to see the ghosts of the other side...but looking through the one eye peephole allows you to hear the other side of the murders

Might be hope yet. We are getting a Silent Hill 2 Remake. I wished for that for many years. So I will never give up hope for P.T Can't wait for Oct 8th to play SH2. Great video

I mean to be honest , if it wasn't for all players helping other players on forums and what not , we would have never figured out what to do. If they gave us an entire game like that? I would probably be more content watching someone play through it instead of dying 50+ times to Lisa before starting the real adventure. But they hit the horror aspect right on the nail in this one

It may be just me but I’d love a sh4 remake. I know some people hate that game but I think it had the most unsettling and creepy enemies and look out of all of them.

You should analyze the character's and events in the sub-scenario of Silent Hill 2.

I would have killed for this to be made, but I'm one of the conspiracy nuts who believe Silent Hills was never meant to be made and was really just Death Stranding and Kojima's calculated exit.

In PT i think there is a spider that's in charge of Lisa cause right by the radio amd the gouge it out puzzle is right by the spider near the loop door and the first place you see Lisa out of the bathroom is right there...i have a video on my channel about this very subject so check it out

I'd hoped this video would address the theory that PT is about Kojima knowing he was going to get fired and using the game to shoot Konami one last middle finger ("The only me is me, are you sure the only you is you" = "I'm Hideo Fuckin' Kojima, son, how many gamers care about Konami more than me?"; "Then one day he kills us all! I'm not complaining, I was dying of boredom anyway, but I will be coming back and I'm bringing my new toys with me" = "Working for Konami sucks, so I'm not mad you're firing me, but I'm gonna make my own video game company with blackjack and hookers"). I don't know if that theory is accurate, though.

I wasn't a fan of the direction this was heading in, not at all. Didn't feel very Silent Hill to me. But it's still a shame for it to never have been completed, and it's still a neat thing by itself that it's a shame people can't play any more. Was hoping you'd show some footage from the trailer in your video - that was a rather nice sequence, and kinda forgotten by now. I like the lopsided monster in it.

The woman did nothing wrong and the child was her and his child. The man simply did make it up and the radio calls are just the voices in his head telling him his wife was unfaithful. In the end Lisa defended herself and killed her husband because of his actions towards there baby.
