You say several times that Alex's belief that he's a soldier makes no sense. Why does he know how to fight so well then? Blocking, parrying, dodging, combos. He operates radios. How do you explain his familiarity with weapons? The other characters can't fight because they're inexperienced. Alex knows what he is doing. I'd argue the mental hospital line makes no sense, because Alex seems normal. He never displays any mental anguish except for his desire to catch up his brother, Josh.
I don't care what other says afterall not everyone way of thinking match but I love Scumbag system. Sometime others opinion which are opposite to mine makes me sad but I respect their pov and atlast I don't get why scumbag system is damn underrated compare to mxtx other work, all mxtx work are beautiful I believe in equality for all
(catching up on my watch later list so please forgive my late comments). I had been thinking that A Short Message reminded me so much of the comics and how the powers of Silent Hill operated outside of/extended beyond the town. And how it functioned in SH2 and Downpour. What would you call that force? Environmental antagonist?
Ah the cardboard pyramid head reminds me of when i made mine for a cosplay a few years ago. That was fun to do and make. I know I'm a month late but i know people complained about Angela's face being more rounded, to me it looks a bit swollen but i don't hate a rounder face. What brothers me is James's hair. Idk what it is about it but it doesn't blend well so it looks like he has bad highlights. More ashen blonde would work better for me. And yeah the combat animation is janky. Of all of the things they work on I hope that one is ironed out better.
I like this game much more than Origins and Shattered Memories. Haven't played Downpour so can't comment on that one. This one has some very good elements, story is not one of them for sure. Monsters design are well done.....that Scarlett boss still haunts my memories. All in all a good game and after Bloober ef up SH 2 KONAMI should just leave alone the Team Silent games and focus on new games and maybe a Remake of Homecoming etc.
MDZS will always be my first love, but when it comes to fanfic, SVSSS has so many cool angles to explore! In MDZS, we mostly deal with moral and justice angst, but in SVSSS, if it's not crack, a lot of my favorite fics tackle deep existential conflicts and really push how relationships can have organic development.
Question: Didn't you make a video arguing that there was no "Team Silent"? Is the title just clickbait or have you unearthed more info since that video?
I’ve had the anime’s for a long time basically since mid 90s,. I’ve always loved the character D. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until I was older than I’ve discovered an appetite for reading this video has certainly pushed me want to engage with the books so I now have the Omnibus additions. I feel your pain with the collection though I have had similar things happen to me.
13:40-14:45:I really don't think you are addressing the game's introduction to the so-called Silent Hill Phenomenon like some trick of a damaged mind instead of a supernatural phenomenon as described in the older games. 21:40: Still, it didn't even have to be that dramatic. I watched the game's playthrough around 18(gonna turn 19 soon God willing) and I found it(no offense to people who avoided life withdrawal this way) cringe.
I LOVE THIS!! can you do a video like this for silent hill 1?? i feel like nobody gave the OG one this level of detail and thought. i feel like no one has dug deep into the symbolism/research like you did for this video. id be so greatful omg
That was great. I honestly always enjoyed this one. Some of the scenes in the Hell House have never left me. It's great hearing about all the symbolism and details I missed! Thanks for your hard work putting this all together. Also, Origins was just fun for me.
I played this game alot ,only 2nd to SH4 . Although i beat this game like 5 times ,u just explained basic plot points that i never knew 😂. I didn't know Alex was never in the military at all😂. But i was in middle school when i beat it that many times so i guess i just didn't care or pay attention
For whatever reason I find it so weird that Silent Hill wasn't as popular in Japan as in the West. If anything I would have assumed Resident Evil would have been way more popular in the West because it's a little more..."actiony"? Like it's got the military and cops and zombies all that junk Americans like. I would think Silent Hill would be more popular in Japan because it's more subtle, understated, and cerebral. Plus zombies are pretty cut and dry, while the horrors of Silent Hill take on some EXTREMELY dark subject matter. Huh, well, I shouldn't assume is the moral of this story I guess.
I always saw the monsters being human like because Murphy lost his son to another human being, and in general, a lot of his trauma come from inflicting or witnessing harm to those around him
I don't think summoners summoned sin as a weapon which then destroyed them because they couldn't control it. It's much more likely that Sin was summoned as the final solution to a losing war. The people sacrificed themselves to become the fayth that powers Sin and also powers dream Zanarkand. That's why dream Zanarkand exists in the first place. If Sin just killed them all then there would be no dream Zanarkand. It's also why Tidus dies when Sin dies. Because dream Zanarkand and Sin are directly connected through the same power source. Yunalesca created the religion of Yevon to trick people into destroying Sins outer shell so that it could be reborn again before it decays over time (my speculation). If Sin dies then so does dream Zanarkand. So, Yunalesca was keeping dream Zanarkand alive through the false hope that Yevon provided. Even though the higher ups in the religion knew that Sin couldn't be defeated and that the whole religion was a lie. I don't think they even knew that Sin was being replenished through the sacrifices of the summoners.
We know that the power of the final summoning comes from the sacrifice of a willing participant that the summoner holds dear. So, if Yu Yevon is the summoner, and the lives of the people is what he holds dear, and the people are willing, then Sin is essentially a final summoning times a million or more.
I always feel like people seem to condemn James, we are taught to condemn all the needs, and frustrations of the healthy partner when there is a sick partner in a relationship. I'm a chronically ill woman, my parent is healthy. There is frustration. Mary was dying, in chronic pain, it was apparent Mary wasn't able to find any relief. In the ending you see that shows the death of Mary, you will notice she doesn't fight back an you will see her hand on his. It's euthanasia, a kindness for someone tired of the sickness eating them.
Theory continues# The little Walter could be the real Walter and i believe he somehow is the one helping Henry stand up to the evil walter. I also believe that Metatron could be doing some protection in the background.so this whole time, i believe we have actually been facing Valtiel himself or atleast an avatar of him.
So this is my theory on what happened based on the Muse's video. So i believe that after Silent Hill 3, Valtiel was waiting for the moment to return so that he can bring forth "God" again. The ritual happened where Valtiel was placed inside Walter. The first batch of killings happened and we get to the murder of Billy and Miriam Locane. The real walter Sullivan snapped becaue of the horrible killing. He was cuaght at the scene of the crime. Arrested and sent to prison. I believe he tried to kill himself to prevent Valtiel from taking over. He died and was buried by Toluca Lake. Valtiel(Walter) appeared even though Walter was dead. Valtiel dug up Walters body and his the one that crucified him in the room and performed the ritual of the holy assumption. Bam we got the games events.
I normally throw on videos like these as background noise while I work, but I had to put this one on pause and ended up watching it with my full attention after working. Regardless of what people thought/think of the game, I really enjoyed Homecoming even upon release. This video was excellent and I never noticed all of these biblical allusions when I first played this game as a young teen back when it was released.
For my money, Homecoming has some of the best creature design in the whole series, and the music was top-notch too. I didn't enjoy playing it much, but damn if I can't sit back and be impressed by some of the outstanding art that was created for it.
I'm a big baby so I can't play horror games. I tried one of the Fatal Frame games, I can't remember which, in high school and lasted maybe an hour before I had to turn it off. It scared the crap out of me! Those damn ghosts getting in your face, being forced to hold them in frame as they get closer and closer, and the chilling sound design got under my skin quick. I brought it back early to the video rental store. Luckily my cousin was the manager and she let me pick out something different for free. She was like, "oh no, is there wrong with the disc?" I was like, "oh, yeah the disc is fine, it's what's on it that's cursed!"
To be fair, not every character has to have trauma. Cult could have easily brainwashed his memory via otherworld magic to keep him quiet. Alex was interestingly very loving, trying to choose between mercy or compassion, never revenge or absolution. He was in denial, not traumatized imho Him having trauma would just be yet another retread. I like seeing a healthier minded main character every once in awhile. Yes, there were ways to make him more interesting, but I like that they avoided making him mentally ill or trauma fueled in hiw I personally interpreted it. His nightmare comes from the mistake itself. As for the water, most of the kids have something involving asphyxiation or losing air, with the exception of Scarlet who was vled to death. Pyramid Head in this game is not the Red Pyramid from SH2 this is more of the movie version, too. So we only connect more of what we think we should see, not what might actually being presented. But thats my opinion, but happy to see more people seeing the potential this game could have had to be better than it was. Still worth playing through at least once.
A note about the Siam: the female half's kicking is also dangerous. As she's being hauled around her flailing does potential damage, showing how a submissive parent in attempting to adapt to the dominant partner actually does do damage of their own.
