Tabla maestro Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri's performance at the FEA-curated Past/Present festival in Kolkata was nothing short of brilliant.
In this epic one and a half hour recital, he demonstrated a wide range of styles and techniques on the tabla, from traditional compositions to rarely heard bandishes from Khalifa Abid Hussain Khan-saheb and others, tukras and farad compositions to chakradars.
He was ably supported by Dilshad Khan on the sarangi.

OMG! That tihai beginning at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="3072">51:12</a> was the BEST thing I've heard on a tabla... And I've been hearing great tabla for so many years. This was by far one of his finest performances. There was some incredible magic in this and you can see it on his face from the first minute.

This is one of the finest tabla solos I have heard in years. It is beautiful, aesthetically super laykari It is sheer music - poetic - refined and it is nothing short Of divine Dilshad plays a superb and very difficult Lahra which provides Swapanda The background to create his magic This is a real gem and a rare performance of beauty amidst The noise of other tabla players and styles

Sarangi wadak ka naam video ke description mein diya gaya hai. Video ke title mein keval Pandit Swapan Chaudharyji ke naam ka ullekh hai kyuki ve hi mukhya kalakar hai jinhe sarangi wadak lehra bajakar sath-sangat kar rahe hai.

First of all you should know many tehjeebs in Indian culture before listening any pure classical music. There is a vast difference between a dude and disciple. I am also a disciple of a legend tabla player so I know it well that just sitting idle on the stage with his guru is such a hard and long path. They have definitely earned it after paying lot of hard work and talent.
