Oh my gosh....Danielle, your comment about PTA school tearing down confidence is exactly how I feel right now. I'm one week into my first rotation in outpt which sounds similar to your outpt you described. I really love the environment and my CI is very knowledgeable, upbeat and I feel like we have connected. I'm type B too and dont feel confident in the didactic foundation which seems like we practically skimmed over everything( our program went online after 7 weeks in bc of covid) and I was taking the tests to pass ( survive) and somehow kept passing. Your video is quite informative. Bc of covid I do not have an Inpt rotation ( yet) my instructor is still working to place me. All my classmates that have inpt right now are pretty positive about their experiences and a few have treated post covid pts in acute care. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thank you for your videos! I’m currently in PTA school and I start rotations in August. Any advice on how to afford being sent far? And how has the job market been for you since graduation? Thank you ❤️

If you are looking for a convenient job I suggest doing Rover or Doordash! If you get in a good area... You can make up to 20-22 bucks an hour on Doordash after school or on the weekends! Job market has been great! There are always listings and I got a job about 2 months after passing my test!

Thank you for this video! Did you have to deal with toileting at the SNF in the same way that you did at the hospital? Was the SNF sad?

We did have to do toileting at the SNF as well! I actually loved working at a SNF. That was one of my favorite rotations 🙌

Danielle Stuller Hey! Just hearing a lot of negativity. Hearing the job will be obsolete , that pay will be cut things like that.

@@absurdseba its only reguarding SNF's worst thing that can happen is 15-30% pay cuts for PTA, which would be combated by group therapy.

Like study tips, supplies, etc.

There are a lot of study tips but as far as supplies go, you just kind of need the basics! You will order the books you need and then I suggest notebooks, pencils, pens, and highlighters. If you want to print out the lecture powerpoints beforehand that is also a tip. I will do another video this week to go into more detail about that! Thanks so much for the question!

About how long did it take you to start actually working as a PTA?

Haha that’s the golden question. I graduated May 21st and I am taking my national boards exam in July. I started applying to places but most places want you to have your license first. Some companies will take you after graduation but it is more of a hassle. That being said, there are people in my program that decided to take their exam in April and they got a job right away! It kind of depends on how you want to do things. I wanted to have more time to study and also we had a lot of vacations planned after graduation so I kind of took the longer route. Thanks for the question!

as a PTA, do you get to have any input in the treatment plan, like choosing exercises?

Yes! You will have lots of input! 👍 Most everywhere I have been I have come up with the treatment. You get to see what the PT does first since they do the eval but you get to kind of choose what you want. That being said, the PT might want you to do something particular. It totally depends on where you work and what PT’s you work for!

I am still a PTA! I am on maternity leave right now and then we are moving. I worked in an outpatient clinic for a little over a year!
