No just no. So much misinformation.

The pump in this video is a fixed displacement GEAR PUMP not a vane pump. Those things you had so much trouble rotating are Gears, not vanes. Also the directional control valve operates exactly opposite of how you described it. When the spool is either pushed by the air solenoid or pulled by the dump angle limiting cable toward the rear of the pump it is in neutral position or all the way rearward is in the release position to lower the bed. When the spool is in the full forward position (toward the input shaft) it is in the raise or pressure out position. It was rather intertaining when you got frustrated and threw the gear housing across the bench but not at all educational or factual. Better luck next time on something you actually know about.
