We show you guys how to set up a tripwire on a Montavue PTZ camera using your Montavue NVR. I also go over how to activate Auto-Tracking in conjunction with the tripwire on the MTZ8250 Camera.

*** MTZ8250 is the only Montavue PTZ with Auto-Tracking built-in. This feature will not be available on the MTZ4040, MTZ4040-IRAISMD, or MTZ4250.
You can find the MTZ8250 here: montavue.com/products/montavu...

Thanks for this video! I had these PTZ cams for about 9-10 months now and didn’t know how to set up the auto tracking until now. With this PTZ, am I able to set up times if I want the camera to go to preset 1 at 8pm and then to preset 2 at 8am ? Can I set a schedule?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 2 года назад
Short answer: Yes. It's a bit complicated though. It involves logging into the camera directly from a computer on the same network (Cannot be done from the NVR). Call tech support or email me at Paydenk@montavue.com and I'll get you some specific directions from there.

Hello! This issue is probably requiring more troubleshooting than a RU-vid comment can cover. Call our tech support line at (888) 508-3110 and we'll get that camera back to normal for you. Thanks, -Payden

Can the 8250 be setup to pan, and then auto track any subject it seems inside the trip wire?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 2 года назад
Hi Cory! The MTZ8250 needs to be settled at a preset point in order to activate the tripwires for motion detection. Since all cameras technically see a 2D image, it's impossible for the camera to discern objects that are moving from objects that are stationary if the camera itself is also moving. So, you can set the camera to tour mode and have tripwires at each stop in the tour (presets) which can then be activated by any object (just remove the AI recognition) and the camera will track, after tracking the camera will resume it's tour. -Payden

Hi, Do I need ethernet cable and NVR? Can I use it with wifi and cloud recording? If i do need an etherrnet bale from NVr can i use poweline adapters so I will have ethernet cable jack near outside outlet and the other end will be in the basement plugged into NVR?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 2 года назад
Hello! You can run the cameras as standalone using a PoE switch but we recommend an NVR to make recordings last longer and for easier management of multiple cameras. There is no wifi or cloud storage so all the video is stored locally to the NVR and the NVR must connect to the router via an ethernet cable.

Thanks so much for this video. I have a problem on my setup: Every time my camera follows someone and that person passes in front of a stupid fire hydrant, the camera thinks this f. hydrant is a human so it starts focusing on it. If we don't notice it, that cam will just look and record that fire hydrant forever. Is there anything I can do to tell the cam that this fire hydrant is not a human? Thanks a lot.

The camera firmware is designed to "Learn" over time but every once in a while we run into weird recurring false triggers like this one. There's probably a few solutions that are probably too long to hash out on a comment section. If you give our tech guys a call at (406) 272-3479, we can go as far as to log into your NVR with you and help adjust the camera settings in real time. Unfortunately, there's no mechanism to tell the camera what not to trigger on, so the best way to cope is to adjust parameters within the settings or physically move the camera so the hydrant is viewed from a new angle.

@@MontavueSecurity Hey hi. Thanks a lot for your reply. I've set the sensibility to the minimum but it doesn't change anything. I only see one solution: I'll go put a plastic bag or something on the fire hydrant. That will work great until a nosy employee or bus driver of that school for handicapped kids who passes decides to remove it from there. I know it's a fkng shenanigan, but if I don't do that, my NVR will record that hydrant forever lolllllllllll. Thanks again

Does the 4250 also support auto tracking or just the 8250?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 2 года назад
Hi Tyler! The MTZ4250 does not have built-in auto-tracking, that is reserved only for the MTZ8250.

Do you have to have the nvr if setting up tripwire on MTZ4250?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 11 месяцев назад
You do not need an NVR. If you're using the MTZ450 as a stand-alone camera, you'll need to log into the camera via a computer. The web interface will have all the necessary controls to place a tripwire, setup presets, and activate smart features. Make sure you get an SD card so that your camera can record footage, otherwise your notifications will appear but you won't be able to look back and see what's happened. We sell them here: montavue.com/products/ultra-endurance-microsd-card-for-your-montavue-camera-64gb-256gb This video will also show you how to setup and log into a camera without an NVR: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pMOqhQAcLQQ.html It's done from a smartphone in the video but you can apply the same methods to a computer as long as the computer is in the same network.

What happens when the subject freezes and is still for long periods of time?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 10 месяцев назад
The Auto-Tracking can be set anywhere from 120 to 300 secondson our larger PTZs, so if the subject remains still for longer than that allotted time, the PTZ will return to it's preset location. This is why it's so beneficial to have a team of cameras, so that you have complete coverage. Check out this video to learn how you can make the PTZ move to certain locations when triggered by other cameras - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GieWg8XMp8w.html

Do i need a montavue nvr to utilize the autotracking?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 2 года назад
You can do this with or without an NVR. If you have the NVR, then follow this video for the setup, if you have a standalone camera, you'll have to log into the camera and set up the presets and autotracking from there. -Payden

Can i use autracking with the 8250 using Blue Iris? What software would work the best?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 2 года назад
Hello! The Blue Iris would need to have auto-tracking implemented into the software in order to engage it from the software side, so it's highly unlikely. However, it is possible to log into the camera directly and setup the auto-tracking using that method. Find the IP address of your camera and log into it from a computer. From there, you can set up the camera for auto-tracking and then you can use Blue Iris for everything else. If you call our tech support team, they can walk you through this process if you get lost. We won't be able to assist with the Blue Iris software side of things, but they can help you log into your camera from a computer and set up auto-tracking. -Payden

Thanks. So when I make a preset using the ip web interface, and enable auto tracking, j just need to use the preset on blue iris and not move it? Correct?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 2 года назад
Correct. As long as Blue Iris recognizes the PTZ's preset and is able to move that camera to the preset, then the auto-tracking should kick in. There's a tiny chance Blue Iris could override those configurations but it's not likely. -Payden

Is this 4K 30fps?
@MontavueSecurity
@MontavueSecurity 2 года назад
Hey Macgruber! (Sweet name by the way) This camera is capable of producing 4k @ 30fps. However, if the AI/SMD features are active, it reduces the frame rate to a maximum of 20fps which is still hardly noticeable but it's important to note there will be a slight difference. -Payden
