My son and I hunt a small pothole like this in WV. It's tucked into the side of a ridge and woodies tend to streak in from behind with no warning. Super-fun hunt!

I’ll say that it’s certainly respectable to call the lost bird part of your limit, but in my case the last bird I couldn’t find was replaced with my first band. If it’s just one, I don’t have an issue with filling the limit. If you’re wounding half of what you shoot and not recovering, you’re not doing your part as an ethical hunter.

If there had been a duck in the weeds FRED would have found it!! My mix lab once chased a runner woodie 60 yds through cattails!! Bird was very ALIVE!

I really like the simple hunts that focus on Fred. I've learned a lot from watching his progress.

Hey bob, idk if you know this but whenever you have a muddy bottom (like this hunt) BRING SNOWSHOES! You sit right on top of the mud when walking.

Hey Bob, love the shot cam. Can you do a video where you review your misses and talk about what you think you did wrong? I think I've seen one where you just showed a bunch of clips, but maybe one with your commentary on what's happening. I started the season kind of rough, missing easy shots and now I'm doing a lot better, but I'm still wondering if I'm shooting behind, too far in front, under, over etc.. It would be nice to hear your thoughts about your misses.

I only go to small ponds and use a minimal amount of decoys. A dozen decoys, a mojo...keeping it simple sometimes makes for the best results! Just got a goose this past weekend and didn't even have any goose decoys up. Love the vids, and Fred is AWESOME...gotta be proud of him!

Hey man, I need some clarification, Im about to buy a new browning a-5 wicked wing with invector ds extended chokes, I believe it says dont shoot steel shot out of the full choke. I wanted to buy an aftermarket full choke but can I shoot steel #4 or #2 through it for ducks? im getting mixed answers on this.... please help

Bobby would it have worked to sit off to the side, they seemed to want to sit behind your decoys in the open water. The spread was working great, you talked about moving some of the decoys, with no blind it may have been easier to move yourselves. Don't waterfowl hunt much, judyt picking up a lot of info watching your videos. Just curious on your thoughts about that. One other thing were your able to contact the gentleman that sent his decoys for the lodge to do a hunt with him? Thanks Bobby

Hey Bobby, I'm sure it's been mentioned already, but I just wanted to make a suggestion for when Fred was searching around the 7 min mark and the remark you made at 8:28 that he needs to slow down. Love the work ethic of this dog and he has super high potential. Dogs are all different just like humans and they read our emotions more than you realize. We see it In police work with the k9's as well. You are a highly excited and motivated guy which is awesome, but this could easily transfer to Fred. When it's time to work him, slow it down a bit as he is still a pup and learning. Like you've said in one of his training videos, dog work is not exciting (even though it is, if that makes sense). Work in the field just like you train or else the whole vibe will be off. I love the videos and I can't wait to see what you can do with this dog! -Rob

I think it'd be cool to see a scar crow challenge. Where you put a scare crow at the opposite end of the water you are hunting to see if it pushes birds to your side.
