Thats the most real depiction of a bow hunt I’ve ever seen. The highest high of successfully getting a shot at a buck and the lowest of the lows when you don’t find him or have to watch him suffer. I’ve been there myself. You honored him by finding him and solemnly had a discussion about the sometimes reality of bow hunting. You guys are real and that’s why I am a fan of your show. Another amazing story.
This is the video that made me love watching you guys. Shows the true rollercoaster of emotions that is hunting. If someone doesn't agree or thinks they are weak for being sad over this, then you shouldn't be hunting. Its never easy taking the life of an animal. Well done Jake.
To All of you making negative comments; They didnt have to include waiting on this buck to expire in the video. They could have edited that out if they chose to. They show how it really can happen in true life. Its not fun but it is reality. There are plenty of other sugar coated hunting shows out there for you “experts “ to watch. Tune into to those shows and keep your “ know it all negativity “ to yourself. Congrats to Jake and the whole team!
Maybe a naive question... but is it really illegal to cut the throat of a moribund deer even though it's after sunset? Or wasn't it quite that far gone? I m not the avid hunter you guys are, but I'm a farmer and have trapped, hunted and butchered many animals. I completely understand the potential for serious injuries from the hooves or antlers if he still had the strength to flail around, so don't think I'm criticizing! But I do know a question I'm going to ask the local game warden next time i see him... Tough hunt on everyone, but good job!
@@dextersrock8951 it is illegal to shoot it again after dark. Not sure about a knife. Personally I don't care. I had to put down a buck after dark that my cousins daughter shot . It keep getting up but was mortally wounded, small caliber gun. I finished it after dark cause it was suffering and bawling. If they want to write me a ticket, go ahead. I had to shoot it cause we tracked it long ways and she wasn't with us
@@swalker9482 Good for you, but you weren't filming a tv show seen by hundreds of thousands - likely millions at some point - of people, many of whom would love to aid your downfall.
long time hunter, just stumbled across you guys a few weeks ago. i am really enjoying the process of you guys. ive watched a ton so far, picking up bits a pieces here and there that i can incorporate into my own style. watching the end of this epsiode, as hunters we dont do it for the killing aspect of it. its part of the process, but not the whole goal. seeing the emotion from jake and the appreciation for life, thats what hunting is. these people that dont hunt or live this lifestyle will never know or understand this. its an emotional experience everytime you get out there and do what you love. keep up the good work guys, look forward to following you down the road
I'm just an old jaded Sheriff's Sergeant from northern Indiana so my opinion isn't much. But for what it's worth, I think that was the best and most authentic hunting video I've seen. If you boys keep on making videos like this then you'll have at least one fan for a long time. Jake, hold on to that feeling from this hunt and you'll be an even better hunter, person and steward of the land for it . Thanks for share the true hunting experience with us other average Joe hunters.
I am a 38 year bow hunter, if you hunt long enough that will happen to us all. I like the honesty in the way you handled the situation and the respect for the animal. You handled it with dignity for the animal and yourself. WE all can learn. I pick up tips and info from you guys and I have been hunting longer than you have been alive. Have a good and safe season.
It’s good to know there is people out there who have feelings for these animals. I myself get emotional at times when taking another animals life for my benefit. I believe that this feeling makes us a better person, and a better hunter. To get to a point when we have that much respect for the animal is true sportsmanship. Congrats Jake on an awesome buck and good luck Greg with that long bow. Mindy your awesome!!!🤙
Congrats Jake! That was a pro call to pull back and come back later! I really admire how you guys are willing to get out there in the wee hours to track them down. With 1 lung and liver I would have thought he would have been expired after 6 hours. And once again, thanks for airing the rough times as well as the good times. It reminds us all to critique our shots and try every day to get better, and learn. Thanks again and congrats!
Jake, there isn't a hunter out there that hasn't had that happen to them, you showed true emotions. All in all you still harvested a beautiful buck and put meat in the freezer! Another great job!
What a exciting and somber experience. The rush of excitement when a great setup pays dividends. You know I read the many comments people post and for the most part they are great. Hunters happy for other hunters. The one that bothered me was the guy who said something about revoking your man card because you got emotional. Let me tell you it the raw emotion that separates your channel from a lot of the others. When frustration in a failed stalk surfaces or a missed opportunity happens it is shown on your film. I personally applaud you for the level of respect yall have for your quarry. It shows your human and that you care about the animal your passionate in chasing. Well done and congratulations on a great deer.
Wow, what an awesome episode! You guys did an amazing job at transferring to your viewers, what is an extremely surreal experience when recovering a deer. There was no stupid uncalled for yelling and over the top celebration. You conveyed your feelings of sadness and respect for the animal in such a way that I felt like I was there. Congrats gentleman, you set a great example of what a real hunter should be!
Congrats on your first public buck with a bow Jake! This is why y’all have 54k subscribers! Y’all show all the emotions of the hunt, the highs and the lows. And Mindy is awesome! Great job guys
All of you can take pride in being a part of one of the best videos of a real bowhunt I've ever watched. Solid ethics. Solid character. Solid group of guys. Congratulations!
Could not have stated it better. The respect for the animal and the sport is amazing. Thanks for being such great ambassadors and showing the reality and the emotion of our shared passion!
Myndi seems soooo sweet! Wouldn’t be able to produce videos every week without her hard work behind the scenes. Great hunt! Was happy to finally see this vid come out.
I’ve had to literally chase down a couple deer to finish them off... if there’s bubbles in the blood, I will push them, but liver shots are iffy...they could crash quick or stay alive for hours. Y’all did the right thing.
This is the very best video ever produced showing reality and nothing staged. Thank you for not editing out the true emotions of the hunt and recovery.
Jake the way you and the guys are feeling just shows that you all have SO MUCH respect for the animals that you are chasing and to me and a lot of others just proves you guys are true sportsmen. Great buck and congrats to you all. Looking forward to the next video for sure.
Thank you for showcasing the respect you guys have for wildlife. We all know it’s a party but the outsiders don’t understand how much we truly respect our adversary. Bow hunting levels the playing field for a buck and a hunter. Thank you for being such great ambassadors.
I absolutely love what you guys are doing. So refreshing to see people chasing after their dreams and not falling in line like everyone else! Keep it up fellas!
Thank you! Thank you for being REAL HUMAN BEINGS! It’s not about the horns or the inches! It’s about the ANIMAL!! The respect and reverence shown in this video is just remarkable! Would ANY other outdoor group have been as open and honest about their process and their way of dealing with it? Not a chance. I was torn...all the way down here in Louisiana. I wanted to be happy and I wanted to see the typical THP celebration...but what I got was so much more. Keep. It. Coming.
You guys are a pleasure to watch. How close you all are and the genuine friendships you guys have, really shines in your videos. Way to show what hunting should really be about.
Awesome 1st public land buck Jake. I'm sorry you had to go through all those emotions and it truly revealed how great a guy you are. Thanks for sharing this experience THP it is something we can all learn from in more ways than one.
I just gained so much more respect for all of you. Having been a bowhunter for 30 years I still get emotional when I know the shot wasn't great. Once several years ago I even had to shoot a second arrow the next morning before To kill the deer. It just ruins the moment. I agree we all need to make Sure we take that couple seconds more and make sure the animal is Broadside even if it means letting him go. But again thank you for your emotion. Makes me respect you even more. Yes we take a animals life but We all do it in dignity and respect. True hunters aren't cold blooded killers. You guys have really stepped it up this year.
Great job Jake! Superb dedication. Not only to the buck, but to yourself and friends. Everyone pitching in to find and recover that fine specimen of whitetail.
The best part about THP is you guys show the good, the bad, and the ugly. Unfortunately this is how it goes sometimes and people that are watching because they want to start bow hunting should know what they are inevitably going to have to deal with at least once. Keep up the good work guys!
I guess I didn't realize I could like you guys even more. Your videos are such an amazing change from the infomercial feel that hunting shows have been for so long. I guess I already knew how much you guys actually cared about the deer that you harvest and showing us how the hunt actually went, but this video still blows me away. You guys are lucky you found such a great group of guys to hunt with. Thanks for doing what you do.
Jake, having respect for the animals we pursue is what keeps us on top of our game. Having an animal suffer or waste is a very unfortunate part of hunting that most hunters will experience in their lifetime. I have had my share of these situations and I know that regardless of the preparation put in, it will happen again at some point. Showing this REAL side of hunting is important and sharing it with everyone even more so. I know you will no doubt take your experience with you and learn from what has happened. Nice job on pushing hard on the recovery and giving this animal the respect it was owed.
The respect hunters have for the animals is unmatched. And this video is a great example of that. Unfortunately sometimes this happens. Love this channel!
It’s nice to see a group of guys that have so much respect for the outdoors and the animals we hunt. Congrats on finding him and your first public land whitetail with a bow.
This could easily be my group of hunters. You did a great job capturing all the emotions involved with a common mans hunt. Everyone within my hunting crew has had an experience like this at some point in their hunting years. I applaud you sticking it out and doing right by the animal. Thanks for sharing this hunt with us.
John here glad to see how hard to guys put in the time and the grace you all had in letting this deer die in pace made me proud to watch the heart you guys have.
You all keep proving that you are one of the top deer hunting channels on the internet. Wow man, nice job and thank you for sharing the low moment that we all feel during bow hunting when things don’t go exactly as planned. I also agree with someone’s comment below- love flannel and not a lot of crazy camo. Well done!
You guys are awesome! Thanks for showing what a true sportsman feels after a not so perfect scenario unfolds. I’ve been there and felt the same emotions he felt after recovering a deer in that situation. Keep the videos coming!
I know that roller coaster of emotions. You handled it well and were able to capture the essence of the hunt. So much of it is the journey, not the kill. Keep up the awesome footage guys.
It’s great the way y’all catch the emotion of the hunt on film. Awesome how y’all pick each other up after a small fault. Glad you guys (gal) stick by each other no matter what. People dream of having just one life long hunting partner, and here you guys have several close friendships. Keep up the great work, I watch every one of y’alls hunts. Also. A big CONGRATS to Jake on a great public land buck. Awesome, just awesome.
This was the most accurate bowhunting experience I've ever seen on tv or RU-vid. I commend you guys on showing the reality that is hunting, especially in such a way that shows the true emotion of what a hunter goes when things like this happen. I've had similar hunts, and everytime I do it tears me up inside to know that I caused that animal to suffer. We always want the fastest most humane kill possible, and if you do not believe that then you don't know a thing about us hunters and conservationists. Congrats on the nice buck, I hope to get one myself in the next few weeks.
Congrats guys. It wasn't the way you had planned or had hoped for, but you showed your true passion for the sport and the prey. You have a good team of people and a true dedication to doing it right. Your persistence in finding the animal and your care of it afterwards was truly inspiring. As an older hunter, its good to see a younger generation doing it right. Good job gang.
This is a great reminder of the patience and discipline it takes to wait for the right shot, and often to pass altogether. You told the story very well.
I don’t comment on RU-vid videos much but you guys are legit. Love watching your videos, best hunting videos on RU-vid and tv by far, love the emotion and how real the videos are. Big props to the young woman cooking for you guys then helping drag the deer out of the woods. Keep it up guys, I won’t miss an episode
Your hunting group is very tight knit and so positive! One can only dream of being part of something that special and Mindy is AWESOME! This is the type of hunting show that this sport needs, one that shows a realistic approach to hunting that most major shows are missing! Thanks again for everything you guys do to represent the average Joe hunters that make up and holdup the sport of Bowhunting!
Congrats Jake! The respect u guys give to the animals u take is unreal and that u made a good choice of backimg out and waiting the highs of high and lows of lows ive had deer that i jave gotten and waited a while to come back and find the deer alive still
Great buck Jake, everyone goes through it at some point cant avoid all the heartache, we do what we can to avoid the suffering but that's just something that's not going away. Amazing video, I know it's not the best but I am so glad someone shows the respect and bond we as hunters feel to these animals, not many do, love the show keep it up fellas!
this is the reason I enjoy your vids all of you sticking it out, together, great to see, thanks wish I knew you personally the kind of people I like to hang out with.
Gained a lot of respect for you all after this video, more so than I already had. I face so much sorrow every time I harvest an animal, but its important to remember why we do it. Great video, great buck.
Than you for sharing this experience, I've was in a situation like this earlier this year. I appreciate the way you handled it and newer gave up. It's a heart breaker when it happensbut it real. It happens. I'm grateful we both found out deer. Keep up the great work you are all doing. Thanks for keeping it real.
What an emotional video. I was explaining to my son what was going on and the depth of it hit him. But on a positive note the family aesthetic of the Hunting Public is just another thing I enjoy. Such a group of characters all gathered around a pot of stew or whatever is for dinner. I want you guys to blow up and achieve your dreams but never change. You’re one of a small handful of hunting content that I’ll watch with my kids. Keep it up fellas.
Man ... Ive been there. It speaks volumes about how you guys hunt. There is no doubt in my mind the appreciation you have for the hunt but most of all the animals you pursue and harvest. The emotion is real or you wouldn't be human. Thank you for this channel and the dedication, passion and respect you show for Whitetail Hunting.
Congratulations on the buck Jake!! Never a good feeling when you see them still alive and suffering. Another great video from you guys. You always manage to make your videos better than the previous. Way to go Mindy!! Keep up the good work fellas and Happy Hunting!!
Have had the same thing happen to me also . Its gut wrenching walking up on them . The way you guys handled that shows you know what hunting is truly about . Congrats on an awesome Buck.
That's the reality of being a hunter. We all desire to be successful but want the quickest, most humane kill possible. We are all fortunate and blessed to be able to hunt these beautiful animals. True hunters have the utmost respect for the life they are taking. Great job guys.......
I just discovered your channel. You sirs, are true sportsman. The respect you have for taking an animals life is great. You guys are great role models for the public to see about sportsmanship
REALLY impressed with the reverence, and respect you guys have for the deer!!! A LOT of people and hunting personalities could take lessons from you all!!!
Had a similar situation this weekend. Made what I thought was a good shot but then bumped him on the recovery efforts. Luckily found him after at 2.5-3 mile blood trail. Just goes to show you how resilient these animals you are. Made me appreciate them more.
This is about as real as it gets watching a bowhunting video. Congrats on the deer and thank you for showing the real emotion that goes into the situation.
Thanks for sharing the full story! That takes courage in today’s climate. Congrats Jake, that’s just how it goes sometimes. You did your part, I think you can hold your head high. Can’t wait for the next one.
Congrats man! Glad to see you finally got it done! Man hunting is like a roller coaster. You’ll be at the highest of highs and lowest of lows at times but there is still nothing like it. I have nothing but respect for you guys for what you guys did. It’s always hard to watch the animal take their last breath but you took that animal for a reason. Im sure the meat is not going to go to waste and at the great memories you made in the woods. Every hunter once they hunt long enough will experience hard times and will end up making a bad shot. It happens to everyone. I’m glad you guys shared the down moments with us and I totally understand the situation but I’m also very glad one of you guys harvested a deer. Thanks for sharing the great video and keep up the great work!🏹🦌
Hell yeah! Great buck Jake! Much respect for showing the reality most of us face at some point in our hunting careers. There's nothing worse than sweating a shot you're unsure of.
Great hunt! Loved the emotion that Jake showed waiting on the buck to expire. I had that happen a few years back. I walked up on him still alive after dark. Had to watch him suffer that last few kicks and the last breath. Really changed the way I hunted. Congrats on a great buck Jake! Great review at the end of the show. BTW...you guys owe Mindy big time. Cooks and retrieves deer in the snow and cold.
Many of you have had the "gotta find and finish" experience. Way to stay the course. Mindy is a definite keeper. Puts up with your buddies, cooks for them and helps pack out the deer. Reminds me of my wife. She hunts with me. And ice cold when shot time arrives.
Keep up the good work guys. Much respect for y’all keeping it real through the highs and lows of bowhunting👊🏼. And to anyone who is talking trash about the shot, when you bowhunt long enough, crap happens.
Wow just Wow!!! The best EPI of the Deer Tour and maybe the best of THP ever. So much to learn here and so much you all captured. First off, awesome job on doing what I thought was a perfect job of after the shot and the recovery of this deer. Second, awesome job capturing every step of the recovery and sharing with us all the emotion of it. At some point us as Bowhunters if not already experienced a Liver shot will experience a Liver shot. You guys did such a great job here all around as hunters and film creators. We all can learn something from this experience you all captured!!! Congrats on the AWESOME Deer and Hunt!!!
I just recently started following you all. The reaction and emotion you guys showed towards that animal just earned you a loyal subscriber. You guys are great and very good at what you set out to do in the great outdoors. Congratulations! We have all been there as bow hunters and unfortunately we will all experience the lows again at some point. True hunters have great respect for the animals they hunt. No question you all are respectful hunters. Wish there were more videos that show the true ups and downs as you all do. Excellent editing to by the way. I felt as if I was tracking right along with you. Good luck out there and be safe. Can’t wait for your next video.
The most real video I've seen in a long time. You all done a great job at reminding everyone what is going on when they release an arrow or pull that trigger. Keep the videos just like this one! Great job and we love what you're doing.
You shouldn't feel bad you guys did the right thing. Congrats there should be more hunters like you Jake. Mindy you are the hero when are we gonna see you in the tree.Good luck guys
Guys I know that's something you don't want to see but it happens it's apart of hunting you guys are good what you do you don't give up you are the best great deer and great hunt keep up the good work i can't wait to see what you guys do next
I was about 15 years old still in highschool when i shot a buck and ran off and came flying back laid down 5yards away and watched him take his last breath. It was sad and it was something like this, Especially at a young age wasn't quite what i was expecting but I love the sport and the challenge! Keep up the good work fellas!
The true emotion in this video touches me as a bow hunter, gun hunter and most importantly a deer hunter. The video could have been easily edited to not show the range of emotions that you guys went through, but you were true to yourselves and the thousands of people who watch your videos. I've said it once and I'll probably say it many more times, you guys have the best content of any hunting shows or videos that I've ever watched! Congrats Jake on the BBD on public land!
19:09 Moments like these as unfortunte as they are, Does Happen and infact Brings you Closer to the Deer..... love ya work fellas, well done Jake. respect to ya man. nicely spoken. luv ya crew.
Like Jake, I thought he would fall within sight. He was quartering to a bit more than it appeared. Love the fact that you show the whole story - good and bad. That's what makes this the best hunting channel! Congrats!
