Ari Shaffir really touched me on this one, Joe. I won't be pressing charges this time, but he deeply touched me in a way that should be illegal. Anyways, great podcast, funny and thoughtful, much appreciated. Cheers.
Glad you're doing MFMJ again, it seems like you really enjoy it. Officially back into my rotation. Also, congrats on all the content you're getting out. Seems like you're hitting your stride.
I'd love to hear Louie on this podcast. As much as I love his humorous appearances on O and A, his serious interviews from back in the day, especially the ones he did with Marc Maron were my favorite.
No matter what you feel about Ari, you gotta objectively admit he is such a blessing to comedy... especially these days. I love the guy and appreciate his fearlessness and loyalty to the craft. He is this man in my opinion. Him and Joe are two of the best in the game right now.
Joe List, I’m loving the show being back. It feels like a different side of you and I appreciate that. I’ve watched all of the hour by hour episodes and I can’t wait for tomorrow night! I’ll be there live
This was such a great episode. Something about the way you two were discussing depression and gratitude clicked with me more than 5+years of weekly therapy.
Found Ari years ago on Joe Rogan and the Amazing Racist. He introduced me to DOZENS of comics (such as Joe List) who now get me through each day with a much needed laugh. Never let parody or satire die!!! The people need to laugh.
The same thing pretty much happened to me. My cousin introduced me to the Joe Rogan Experience and I think instantly became a fan and then because of Ari I found out about Legion of Skanks and from there just kept learning about different comics that were guests. I love that about all the best comics because they’re all friends and it helps you discover more and more comedy! Super happy I found Joe List through them because he’s become one of my absolute favorites and he’s so funny! He killed in his new special 😄
@@jaywon06 says the guy judging people he doesn’t know on the internet 🤣 you should chill and not give a shit what other people talk about online. Wish you happinesses though because you sound like you could use some 😄
I just heard Ari say that and I'm so upset! I have a lot of downloading to do tonight. But also, you can never really scrub it from the internet so why take it away from those of us who love it? LOVE old eps! A-holes who want to screw people over will already have saved it in their hate files anyway. Just sayin'. Toothpaste ain't gettin' back in that tube!
Ari and Joe are two of my heroes. Seriously.. no irony, no sarcasm. These two intelligent, hilarious dudes totally inspire me, along with so many other NYC comics.
Joe! Big fan from Vancouver :) This is the first RU-vid comment I have ever written. I felt compelled to let you know, knowing full well you'll read this lol, that your witty self-deprecation marries so well with your clear-minded confidence. I can imagine drunk Joe probably only had the former. I've been a Tuesgay for years and am so happy to see you doing so well! Probably some things to improve diet-wise to stick around longer for the kiddo, but I know that light bulb will turn on eventually lol! Gig Harbour... I spent every weekend the summer of '23, and a couple week-long stretches, on Lake Washington fixing up a houseboat to sail back to Vancouver. We were moored in the Rainier Beach area, a lot of kooks lemme tell ya (cue drive-by shooting at the apartments right across from the marina that we thought was fireworks as we walked. directly. in. its. direction), but, I frequented Gig Harbour on your recommendation. Lovely. Two years in Jersey tops and you should leave. Your kid won't even remember he almost has a Snookie accent when he's waking up Saturdays to roll one of those wheels with a stick with all the neighbourhood kids. Mark has a literal mansion in Manhattan. He'd be dumb to ever sell it. He'll never leave and you know that. I'm not sure how you could work the pod and shows from Washington, but planes work the same regardless of where they take off from... p.s. Vancouver has the same weather... Summer is amazing, as you know, but don't let ANYONE tell you it isn't tough mid-October, when Summer just ends abruptly one day, to... say April. That's 5 months where you may not see the sun, pure dark ash grey overcast and intermittent rain, in week-long chunks. I am being serious.
I’d like Ari to know Joe’s special released at the perfect time. I just got home from a long day, opened up the computer to watch something to wind down, and Joe’s special was right there waiting for me
Joe and Ari are my two favorite comedians and I legitimately believe two of the best actual people in comedy. Ari's heel turns are even more hilarious imo when you understand what a good guy he really is underneath.
This conversation was pure gold. Can you guys please do something together one the regular? Like a call in show for people who struggling mentally or something. Unlike most mental health coaches, shrinks etc. you are handing out some very useful tips on how to handle bad emotions. Bless guys
Joe, you should be promoting this pod on Tuesdays with stories. I’ve been listening to Tuesdays for like a year and I didn’t know about this till today with peace and love
There were at least 4 perfect segues into the Bert Thai Food story and each one that passed by without fruition hurt my mental health more and more. Thank goodness for Better Help
Ari is one of my favorite people I've never met (you too Joe). Glad to see him on here👌 *what you said about Springsteen is exactly how i felt about the band Type O Negative when i first heard them in high school 25 years ago. Never resonated with a band so much as i did with them
joe man ur stand up is so great im a "tremendous fan" ive watched ur pod with mark normand and loved that but just recently gave ur stand up a go and i will be telling my dad mom brother sister neighbor lol u r great man thank god we still have comedians in this world to help us laugh like you do. ur doing exactly what you should be doing in this world you found or honed a a true craft for comedy 🤘
Hey Joe just remember that we love you and your content. Even if you don't make the heights of comedy legends, people like you are just as important to the industry
This one was really great, it felt like hanging out with buddies, just a relaxed fun vibe. A podcast with Joe and Ari would actually be really soothing
I enjoyed watching this very much, Joe. I like how you keep the conversation loose, great and on theme. Plus I'm a fan of you two and liked this angle on a hang. Thanks!
Anyone having bouts with depression, just remember what Joe and Ari said in this podcast: you'll be nothing but forgotten ash in 300 years and nobody will have any use for your possessions
@jadong8989 I'm doctoring under the assumption that folks listening to Joe and Ari (professional comedians) discuss mental health enjoy a laugh, so yes
Thank you Joe, this is so soothing, informative and funny. You should do a video where you explain what is it about thich nhat hanh that helped you cos im super curious (as im sure are many of your fans). Love your stuff!
There's a part in this video that almost made me cry, and I listen to these while at work! But the part at 59:55 when Joe was saying "whoever-the-fųçƙ" in my mind I was thinking "Sam..?" And he's shouts out "Sam!" is when I busted out laughing!
Aye Joe, you should post 1 of those alert links for the special to remind everyone to watch the premiere. Most of us are fakn ritahhded qweeahz & we forget stuff. Thanks for bringing MMJ back.
Joe, I truly love you man. I want to say all those things to you, that you stopped yourself from saying to Bruce. You are truly inspiring, because you are so good at what you do, and so obviously, always being yourself. One day, I hope to work with you on something. I also hope that doesn't sound too much like Rupert Pupkin lol.
Huge fan here i watched your special yesterday and let me tell you you are the most consistent funny guy out there. Hearing you talking about Bruce is insane im also a huge fan of him and i can really relate i wish i meet him someday hopefully.
You rock Joe! You’re seriously one of the funniest comedians out there and it’s awesome to see you killing it! Sincerely thank you for all the laughs man. Also I just watched your new special and it was fantastic. Both specials are two of the best and funniest specials I’ve seen in a long time❤
Thank you! I appreciate it. Just a note: there are now 3 one hour specials on RU-vid. Not sure if you’re missing one or just didn’t care for it. Either way, thank you very much!
@@JoeListComedy I don’t know how I missed it but now I’m going to watch it. Also congratulations on the baby boy on the way! You’re gonna be a great dad dude 😄
Big fan of both Joe List and Sam Harris. For those sincerely interested in meditation, one word of advice - keep it dead simple. Give yourself periods where you commit to being without doing. During these sessions bring your full attention to some sensory channel, or even the quality of feeling. Do so without judgement or evaluation or story telling. The techniques (having no head, mindful breathing) are all well and good - but they also tend to generate contraction around "am I doing it right" followed by judgement then day dreaming. Spend a few months practicing the art of truly stoping, then the stillness and beauty associated with meditation emerges naturally, as does the realization of selflessness.
I hope you guys see this. Love you both, love feeling the struggle thru the camera to see it work out, love a good god talk and performance. Wish nothing but the best for both you and I strive to be colleagues one day
Can totally relate to the Springsteen thing, have seen him upwards of 35 times and I just well up every time . Makes me think of my childhood hearing these songs being played by my Dad in the living room. He’s long passed and wish he was there to share these shows with me .
Joe List is so underrated. Seeing unfunny comics get propped up into fame ( Bert, Brendan, Brian, etc.) is genuinely painful when there's quick-witted, down to earth guys like Joe out here getting slept on. Can't wait to see the heights he'll reach, without all the fake nonsense. At least you're not a punching bag for Segura, like Bert. Climbing the ladder on your own comes with it's own merits. I hope you stick around in the comedic sphere for a looooong time. Thanks for the laughs!
Love the podcast, I was working through the old eps so its nice to see that its back. Try to get alok kanojia on, ex monk / addiction psychiatrist / youtuber, could be a good pod
This was really great. Personally, I really like Ari as a comedian and a person. He can be a dick, as we all can, but he has a really sweet and sensitive side to him. Thanks again Joe and can’t wait for the special
