I’m only 11 years old but I’ve been writing chapter books ever since i was 6 and my mom is finally letting me publish my very own novel and I’m so exited! Thank you for this tutorial!
@@FOAMYCHIMERA461 I've always used google docs. I organize the chapters into 3-4 acts. The acts hold the chapters where I explain most of the important things in the chapter. I use a table with three columns - Scene (what happens), Characters, chapter number.
As someone close to finishing their manuscript, this was a simple and straight to the point explanation of all of the steps necessary for publishing through Amazon. Good content.
Hi there, I have a question for you. When you were writing your story, were you writing on paper or computer to make those edits? Did you write your story while on the Kindle?
Young man, you were so on point in your delivery. So many tutorial videos are drawn out and boring. You kept me engaged, your bullet points were "on point" and it got me excited to sell on Kindle and Amazon. Thank you and I will be ordering your book!!
I am writing a children's book about self-love, gratitude, bullying and how to deal with it. It is for children from 5-10 and it would be great if the children could read it together with their parents. The main characters are my cats, some flower fairies and a unicorn.
Thanks for the advice on publishing, I think about a person’s motivation for doing things and I think your motivation is genuinely helping people get over the hurdles of the unknown.
I am in the midst of publishing my book, and I think this video was amazing insight on how to follow the steps, I will definitely be coming back to watch the rest of them!
Great advice - short, to the point, very helpful! I'm going to watch your Launch video next! Thank you Chandler for all the free and meaningful training you give to people who want to write and publish a book! My husband and I co-wrote a book and are hoping to self-publish it within the next 2 months!
I'm a few months off yet, but this is my first book, and I think it will be a winner. I see a lot of positives on the Amazon publishing. This answered a few of my questions.
I'm only 11 and I got a project to make a book and now I have my only books my teacher and classmates loves it I even seller them in my class and now I'm ready to publish on line thank u soo much
Im 13 and ive been writing since i was 8, now im working on my first ever book so this is extremely helpful, wish everyone the best in their writing opportunities.
For the last 8 years I’ve been writing my own book trilogy, refining and forging my own style of writing to perfect my series. Today, I finally finished the final draft of the first book, I’m close to my goal.
Congratulations Jacob! 8 years, that's extreme dedication. I really hope your publishing goes well, please come back if you read this and tell me what your book is and I'll check it out.
Thank you, and currently I’m undergoing a few set backs, but it is up and running. I found out that I accidentally used a manuscript that was slightly older than my current one so it has some issues, but all and all it should be good. It’s called Quartz Clear 1-2 and I plan on adding 3-4 soon. Please understand that I am working on fixing the issues at hand which you will see if purchased. Thank you though, this means a lot!
Outstanding introduction to the world of self-publishing. Concise video (less than ten minutes and only nine steps! ). Very well explained, clear instruction and advice. The only note I would add is why not say anything about ISBNs?
Very helpful content indeed! The presenter was enthusiastic right through the video, very supportive and clear, precise in his explanation. Thank you so much!
Glad to hear that, Adrienne! Have you read my book? You can get a free copy at selfpublishingschool.com/published?first_touch_channel=social&first_touch__site=sps&First_touch_medium=youtube_-_feed
Dear friends. I'm beginner writer and I wrote an motivational book "BE ONE STEP AHEAD" Read please. Look. On Amazon. I hope you will like it. Thank you. www.amazon.de/BE-ONE-STEP-AHEAD-English-ebook/dp/B08JV66VQG
Barcodes, isbn numbers, price? Do I buy my barcodes, do I have to pay for printing on paper, do I get the number of copies I want after printing on paper, do they (Amazon) give me the barcodes which are to be inserted into the cover conception before it’s finalized or is it Amazon who inserts the barcodes into my cover image? None of these was addressed in this video. Thanks!
Thank you for all the helpful tips! I feel almost ready to send my book in for publishing, and this is giving me the confidence, by following your critical steps! Almost there!!
The book cover and description are probably the most important part of publishing and marketing a book. I remember a great excerpt from Rich Dad, Poor Dad. A young lady was talking to a new York time's best selling author. He read her book and praised her for her style and structure. She said she wanted to be a best seller one day too. He recommended she take some marketing and advertising classes or hire someone to promote her book. Offended, she asked why the heck she should do that, thinking her writing should be enough alone. He tapped on the cover of his book and said, "You see that? It says 'best seller', not 'best author'.".
Great post, thanks a lot. I wrote a couple of books during the pandemic, even translated them and started selling on KDP (have about 16 now in my store). I got some sales in the beginning, but now its kind of dead. I will work over again and change some things. Had no idea you could apply for 8 more categories. Thanks again!
Thank you for the tips just subscribed. I’m still writing my book 📚 . Working on 4 books all at the same time, I know it sounds crazy but I can’t wait to finish. I will be tuning in for more posts. Thanks again
Great video! Succinct and very helpful. The subject matter I write is generally very artsy and existential in nature, and it's a shame that people can't experiment with more etherial and "out there" novel titles in this day and age. We live in such a fast-paced, "cookie cutter" era where everything is obtained immediately and seemingly catered to a few basic interests. I mean...I am not speaking for the masses, but it does seem to be a trend these days. Oh well, I suppose to you have to adapt to the times if you want to be successful. Regardless, your video really sums the process up well. Thanks, man!
this entirely depends on your book/genre/audience size, how you launch it, how much work you put into maintaining its growth. Why self-publish? You maintain all the rights, you keep all the royalties, it's faster/easier, you can utilize the book for anything you want, including using it as a tool to launch or grow a business or blog. There are tons of reasons. Here are some resources that might help with some of your questions: self-publishingschool.com/how-much-do-authors-make/ self-publishingschool.com/self-publishing-vs-traditional-publishing/
You did a fine job in letting us know the options. Unfortunately, I uploaded and never saw any of the options about pricing and some of the other items you mentioned. It isn't your fault. You really were quite clear. It's something I must have done wrong along the way.
Excellent quick tips to publish Amazon! I've finished my book. Spanish speaking, so I have to put myself to translate. Nbr 2.(as you love pointing out)I'm a Professor so I must adapt it to the common reader. Since the book is about states of mind can be adapted, taking away technical language. to it and return. But full of energy, great perspective. You make it sound easy. Ha!

Here's a question: could you sell a book on its own? I have heard the modern author say that it would be better to first establish a "platform" and garner some social media following. However, I am not really "modern", that "social media" platform is just not my thing (though I am already considering getting into it - hey, got to keep up with the times, eh?). But my question is this: could you sell books (through Amazon) without having a prior social media following? I am known as a writer only in small circles and locally, and am in fact more recognized for my films, but it's safe to say I can go into this and expect at least some people would buy my books. Though I would, of course, like to reach a larger and more international audience. I am new to all of this new-age online self-publishing concept, in fact I'd still prefer traditional publishing, were it not for the pandemic.
Hi, very helpful this video :) I just want to ask you: what about Children's illustrated Book publishing? Should I prepare a file with the cover and another file with the internal part of the book (excluding the cover)?
1. Make a KDP account 2. Title and subtitle - reader should instantly know what book is about 3. Create a book cover that (1) grabs attention (2) title in upper third of cover (3) instantly conveys what book is about 4. Write captivating book description 5. Choose the right keywords (relevant + things people actually search for) 6. Choose the right categories (1) relevant + harder to rank in (2) relevant + easy to rank in (3) request up to 8 more categories if interested 7. Upload book - manuscript, cover, etc 8. Price book - research similar books (1) kindle/ebook: $2.99 - $9.99 (2) print: $10.99 - $17.99 (3) international sales: price should be appropriate for each country 9. Press publish button when ready to launch
We have some additional help and examples of those and other parts of a book here: self-publishingschool.com/parts-of-a-book/ front book cover design is covered here: self-publishingschool.com/book-cover-design/
Thank you for your insights and enthusiasm. I am ready to publish three novels, each in different categories. Your video will help me with that. Thanks, again!
I have a question that’s been worrying me a bit. How can I learn more about the rights to my book? I’m worried that if I publish online (on any website) I’ll lose the rights to my work. Is there any way I can learn more about rights?
I loved this video and the video training on zoom with your publishing experts. I was disappointed they wouldn’t keep the scheduled time to talk with me unless I was willing to spend around $18,000 over the course of publishing through your experts. I’ve written three versions of the book. I’ve had a publisher want 1 version . But you guys didn’t even want to talk . Sad 😞
I’m 8 and I’m working on a manga so when I’m finished with the one shot there might be more but for now it is a one shot so yeah this may help I’ll have to ask my mom or dad if they can buy it
I am glad you are there to help people through what for many would be a nightmare. I found that I wasn't hyperventilating and my blood pressure didn't go through the roof whilst watching your video. It relieved me in many ways and hence why I have chosen to subscribe. I shall over the next coming weeks be looking at self-publishing. I am a modern-day Poet so lookout, and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I have begun to enjoy yours. Thank You. From Denis Brown
