I always return to this video. Domingo and Scotto giving their all. The audience clapping as he steps onto the ship….very moving. During their bows you can see how much it took out of them
Say whatever you like but I promise you to be in the house for this performance was thrilling! And you will be hate pressed to find anything close today. Scotto and Domingo gave 100% of themselves.
Do you hate this wonderful masterpiece, full of passion, squezzing, perfumed music and with a great melody from beginning to end! O it's my favourite!!!!!. Listening last act, a long and hot love duet I could die happy.
It wasn't that she was maligned so much as she sang long past the time she lost her voice; it was sad to watch At the time, I wondered what, in fact, happened to her voice.
Are you the same Mignon Dunn whom I saw in LA FORZA DEL DESTINO on 13 February 1960 at the Met? Miss Dunn, I disagree with you. Renata Scotto rarely had a good review in New York after her return in the seventies. The critics were rather nasty. She still had plenty of voice until the heavier roles took their toll on her instrument. Still, with a diminished vocal ability Miss Scotto was able to be very effective on the operatic stage. She was small in stature, but her presence was immense.
