This is my newly restored puch maxi-s, she is far from done. But far enough for me to call it a day, for now. Setup: Airsal 50cc (fast model) bing 12mm 64 jet 14mm intake manifold 28mm techno exhaust gearing: 13/45 max speed: 48km/h
*Very nice!* ( *I really love mopeds...but at 225lbs. I'm far too heavy for them and they always break something somewherefrom being over-stressed from weight* ) *I was in a very bad situation once, economically, and I bought an almost unused '97 'Tomos' for $800 to get to work with, and it was sheer exhaustion to ride it because of the very weak suspension and the RELENTLESS vibrations from the engine causing 'tingling' that lasted for half-hour after riding!* *I bought an old 'QT-50' at a yard-sale for $100 some years later...once again, I was just too heavy for it! The exhaust-header had a bolt fitted to the swing-arm and any heavy 'bump' caused the header-pipe to force-down off the bolt-threads...I fixedit 2x and gave-up and sold it* *I bought an '08 Honda 'Metropolitan' in 'show-room' condition 2.5yrs. ago from 'Craigslist' for $1150...and NEVER had any problems of any kind since day-one and with minor 'performance mods' runs 42-43mph on level roads and will haul an unbelievable amount of groceries home and me with no problems at all...it's a definite 'keeper!'*
Too heavy for them? I weigh 240 and have several mopeds. I ride them all the time, and have never had any problems. You will never catch me on a 4 stroke plastic CVT scooter. I do have a 1979 Vespa P200E 2 stroke manual shift scooter, all metal, no plastic. Tomos mopeds have always had super weak rear suspension, that can be fixed by replacing the shocks with super heavy duty Puch shocks. They are 1" longer, and a LOT stronger. Vibrations? It is an internal combustion powered MACHINE. Real mopeds do need to be tinkered with sometimes. All 4 of mine are '70s models. They are a hobby www.mopedarmy.com I use a car for transportation. I also have three full sized motorcycles.

Nice Video! I have a 1977 Odyssey Moped and I'm planning on restoring it soon but I'm having a hard time finding the spring that disengages the pedals from spinning while driving.
Sorry for the late reaction but yeah sure. Might have to fuel up a few times but it can surely do it. I was able to do 70 to 80km on a tank but stock setups could do 120 to 140km on a tank!
hay there is that a stock cylinder with a 28 mm exhausr ? if yes watchout for leackage that may appear when the cylinder outlet isnt the sam size as the exhaust
Smeltie's Mopeds still depends on the size of the outlet i also had a 50 cc airsal but with a 22mm outlet there are cylinders though that have a 28mm outlet just dont want u to get oil on the exhaust its pretty annoying getting it off ;)
clutch is mabey gone, so renew them. if you cant buy them make them new with kurk en glue.... use tywraps. Or the back gear on the rear wheel is to small. try bigger one than also new longer chain. than the acceleration will be much faster... you will los some speed. But love it... scooter always go in front of me by the traffic lights.... im slow they are fast but when my baby come to speed mwOooOOOOOOOOOOOOOIEUUUUUuuu 65cc, 17mm carb, expansion exhaust, gear 26/26... top speed 110 km (satelite test) Sold it ... but now im building a Tomos a35 same set up but now 70cc on the motor .... im half way now
@@RisiCo69 I already have a bigger rear gear right now. I bought my Puch a while back and I think the sprayer in the carb is too big. I'm on vacation now, but planning on buying a set to test them all. Trying to test a lot of stuff, because in my case, bicycles start of quicker, and I can't get up a little hill at a faster speed than 5km/h Thanks for the answer, will try some of these things when I get home!
@@Frezix Hi... buy new bougie en drive with it a cople times... check if its brown .... if its white to little gasoline... if its black it gets to much gasoline. The airfilter can also be a problem ... in the early days we put some holes in it so with a boormachine to get more air haha thats dutch i mean a drill. Is a sproeier a sprayer ? Ben je Nederland ? Oke succes with the PUCH MAXI... greetings and enjoy your vacation. Sorry for my bad english.
