First of all, it’s an incredible cover. This guy has some solid soulful singing skills. Well worth the alliteration. And the fact that he pinned someone that provides useless criticism attached to an apology proves his affinity for clowns. Pin the Hate When the Skills Are Great!
I said I'd try not to geek out. He's doing something called White-Faced clowns. It was made popular by the character Pierrot in the early 1900s. This style of clown used costuming to create a deep jester in the silent medium of film, at the time. Then Bozo came along and took the look and made it into a kids show, Bozo himself though was not the problem as his performance, from what I've studied, was from a good place. However his popularity took the white-faced clown from an emotional character, into the creepy joke we now now.
I just came. Here today. Never heard of this guy until RU-vid suggested the primus dio cover. My mind is blown. Such a powerful cover. I'm not sure i've heard any other more so. I'm gonna spend the next. However long listening to everything else this guy is done.
@@patriciamotes2694 and what would be your definition of the voice of an Angel?? This man has a very bold and Powerful singing voice. He would sound wonderful amongst the angels singing. Obviously you just don't know good music when you hear it.
I'm deathly afraid of clowns. With IT being advertised for months, along with the AHS clown cult promos I'm not going to lie, I was effing done with clowns! ... and then I found you. 😰 You are amazing.
My brother in law died of suicide this year, and he loved this song. So it means a lot to me, and thank you for this beautiful rendition! I can hear him in it. ❤
@@tusharrao74 You might want to relisten to that. Don't believe it was autotuned as well? Google it- plenty of proof. 'Live' does not mean it isn't filtered- no different than a guitar effect peddle.
@@Zech455I never said anything about completely original- as this song is a cover of a 50+ year old song anyway. But anyone who praises fake stuff, or doesn't even know they are being spoon fed garbage- probably also watches TV shows with laugh tracks. I love when people use the word BRO- they show their lack of intellect. "You sad" indeed.
@@Josh-ce9sv alright mr "intellectual". Had to get real defensive for being a rude piece of shit in the first place, no one cares about the value in which you hold things, you're a lame couch potato who probably went to a couple concerts and now you're an expert calling other peolle out for saying they like something. I feel bad for anyone that has to deal with you in real life.
The Simon and Garfunkel version sounded joyous to you? You and I, we listened to this song in very different ways. This isn't meant as a critique, I find it incredibly interesting how differently music sometimes affects people.
Seriously, letting the last line hang is so perfectly Puddles. This is one of those songs you have to make your own if you're going to cover it properly. Nobody can ever be Simon & Garfunkle, and only a fool would try. Draiman also understands this in his cover--he didn't have to change _anything_ other than to sing it from _his_ heart and it became powerful in an entirely new way. It's an absolute masterpiece.
Man, since I first saw you on AGT I've felt what millions have felt: You're a true artist. But what impresses me even more is the passion with which you sing. Man, that's you! Thanks for giving yourself to us with your passion, your talent and your unique style, thank you for letting us tell about you. We love you, brother!
Personally, I find he RU-vid versions more compelling. He seemed to compromise to their expectations and disbelief too much, it lacked the nuance of his versions.
Replacing the last two words with actual silence was a stroke of genius. Since we all know the words we do not need to hear them to have them ringing through our heads. It is like the song never ends but actually continues in silence for ever.
Tim Laursen he wasn’t the first to do it. Look up Peter Holden’s and Tim Foust’s version who did it over 3 years ago. Theirs is all acapella with layering of both guys voices.
@@TYGER0902 I wonder if he got the idea from Queen's We Are The Champions? The original version omits the words "of the world" at the end of the song. A lot of people dispute that, but click this link to hear it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aRlk72bQK90.html
Please DON'T loose the clown outfit. Inexplicably, it definitely adds something to your act. A welcome and much needed touch of surrealism in a world gone mad and spinning out of control. Love you, Puddles😍😘 Give my regards to Big Mike😘😜
Totally. Used to love clowns growing up as a kid, until the horror genre started soiling their name and often giving people mentally scarring phobias for life. Clowns and their acts are meant to be enjoyed and loved, not feared.
Please do always on my mind by Willie Nelson. One of my favorites. I know you would slay it.Also Sinatra's my way .It would be perfect song for someone who really is doing things his way.
Dear Puddles, Thank you for your beautiful voice. I love your character. You're brilliant and a wreck in the best way. Never stop being creative in this way. Beautiful.
I'm 63 and have listened to this song for years. The way Disturbed sings it is incredible and beyond words. This rendition is quite beautiful too. Thank u
@@watchman2700 I agree. Someone told me in, "Disturbed's", "Sound of Silence" comments section that Puddles was better. I was like, "What's a Puddles?" I just listened to this for about the tenth time, so hooked. I thought I liked "Disturbed's" version better, I was wrong. Puddles hits the crescendo of the song at 2:50...then hits the moon at end... very powerful song. Masterful rendition... We are so blessed to be able to watch and listen whenever we want to.
Not gonna lie. I came here to get a shitty video to make fun of with my friends. I left with a subscription and a version of one of my favorite songs that I actually love more than the original. Good job, guys. Holy cow.
How is it that Big Mike Geier hasn’t been recognized for his masterful voice talent until recently? Puddles persona aside, this man is truly remarkable!
I think we need a fan club that uses a.trusted entity to holds funds we raise to rent for him the best venue on Earth or or pays for a streamed concert we can attend worldwide!!!
Okay I didn't know whether or not I was gonna like this going in. Damn glad I listened to it though, cause I love it. I was hanging on every word till the very last when the words "of silence" were omitted. Just gorgeous, letting the silence speak for for itself. Flawless!
Dude your voice is absolutely phenomenal! In this song you sound old school country, just perfect. When you sang Royals you sounded like an old rat packer, a king of the Sinatra era. Also love you and Hailey singing Mad World. For the first time in years I am going to have to purchase some music in support of your art. Thank you much, and keep those songs coming. Your newest fan.
I've heard this song so many times, listened to all the covers, but this is the only one I felt, it's hard to describe the feeling, of hearing a song, and listening to a song.
It is a sad thing about todays music. With all the speed and variety and simple availability of music today a part has been lost. The story and should. Most music is just made to be heard to on your way, or while doing stuff. Its made for the background. But that there is the old way music was listened to. A story and feelings. The first time I every really listened to a song was during a Larp. We had a really good bard and it was late evening at a campfire. And boy I never had such a experience listening to music.
Puddles came in to my life, the day after I buried my father. The funeral was short and beautiful; sister and I couldn't remember the song he requested at his memorial service. OMGosh I was shocked, when I woke up - went to RU-vid to listen to some music . . . there the song was - Old Danny Boy. I have been Puddles greatest fan since then. The very first thing on my bucket list when life slows down, and I can get away - is book plans to see Puddles Live!
I'm really sorry for your loss. I also lost my father earlier this year. It was really amazing timing on Puddles part. I had been searching for a good version of Danny Boy for my father's funeral. I had a couple versions picked out, but nothing really grabbed me. Imagine my shock, and delight when Puddles released his version the day before the funeral! It was exactly what I was looking for. I was already a huge fan, but now even more so.
It's one of the hardest thing anyone have to go through...feeling yr pain...I have been there n will never forget each moment of each of their passing....it's a silence that we all feel ......
Okay, here goes: Firstly Absolutely 'Soulful' - How many times have we all heard very good versions but always with the vocals in the higher registers. The restrained and yet powerful way you have sung this Puddles is truly Moving AND Absolutely 'unique'. You have a rare, rare talent and gift - we would all love to be able to move another soul to tears (in a Beauty Way) just through the use of our voice. This you do. The Heyokah's and Clowns of the Ancient Peoples would use Humour and Sorrowful renderings to heal individuals and groups of people, You Puddles have the ability to do this, but now in a modern way in these (very difficult) Modern Times, times when we ALL need 'Healing'...When you sing - You not only move us, but you Sing FOR us in the sense that we (the silenced) majority are unable to..so "Thank-You". (I hope all that doesn't sound weird or anything). One Horrible week in my work place, I get home listen to this and the letting go of the weeks horror's and the Healing begins! . :O)
Sorry, Yanto. Although Puddles version was moving, it was not unique. Disturbed released this version 2 years ago and Puddles simply did a very good cover of it.
A'ho Heyoka empath warrior ✌💜 Much Love to All Things truly 🙇 I personally love these lyrics and this performance is definitely fitting for the current times. BRAVO 👏👏👏
Love it. The original S&G will always be my favorite. My dad had the album when I was a kid in the 70s. But this is unexpectedly beautiful and powerful.
Having loved this song since I was a kid (born in '62), I think I've heard pretty much every version of it...and damn...I think I'm just now HEARING this song. And the way he just STOPS at the end, with that look in his eyes...pure genius.
Watch his Post Modern Jukebox cover version of Royals by Lorde. He did the same thing at the end of that one and it is just so, awesome. Thats the best way I can desribe it.
Just really finding puddles insanely talented takes on popular songs and its so awesome that nearing 50 yrs old he has really helped me “Hear” these lyrics of my childhood and teens for the first time i feel them in my soul . God Bless you Puddles !!!
Puddles, I don't know how to stay that to you. I'm just learning english, but even in portuguese I'll never find the right words. Yesterday at night was the first time that I saw you at a performance on a TV show. Now I can't count how many times I saw and heard you. You and your emmotional voice touched my heart very deep. I'm sad. My grandfather is sick and diyng. But the show must go on... I saw in yours presentations that I am not alone. Everybody hurts, everybody cryies. Thank you. You put a smile uppon my face today. You fixed my broken heart with your voice. If someday you came to Brazil for a show, you can count on me to see you.
Sister I'm very sorry to hear about your grandfather I will pray for him and you May God bless all of you and let me tell you that you aren't a lonely person you are not alone I'm sorry again about your grandfather
Sister I will pray for him in each pray for Forgiveness I don't complain anyone but I believe in this God doesn't created us to live lonely I hope you find the happiness and strong I know well it's a hard feelings and you had a bad time but there's nothing happens with accident I watched your comment and I had to give you some hope even it's 3 am here and I supposed sleep 2 hrs ago
My point is that the two versions are complementary, they are not opposed; both are beautiful....The tone of one is more in the grip of anger and the other that of avvantage oriented towards resignation.
It's ridiculous how much Puddles Pitty Party gives me emotions I can never describe. It's a dad-voice, but it's haunting. It's like, I don't know what this is, but I want to see and hear it.
I hear you. I'm in my 70s, so disregard if you like, but prior generations have discovered that the opposite of lies is sometime not truth, but emotion. Puddles's life-changing perspectives on common themes have many antecedents. Were I your tutor, I would recommend reading (or better, watching) plays by Ionesco (The Bald Soprano), Beckett (Waiting for Godot), Pirandello (Enrico V), Brecht (Three-Penny Opera, The Good Person of Szechwan, many others). But then I'm only just scheduled to outlive the prior millenium. Others, like yourself, will carry on. Fair winds, calm seas.
Haunting dad voice is exactly it. I’ve been trying to figure out the words but seriously, “dad” is the descriptor I’ve been missing and I mean it positively
Yeah, it's like inverse-nostalgia. The reality that something so warm and caring becomes grim and tearful as you get older. It's the hollow feeling in your gut when you find a toy you had as a kid, but time and wear has caused it to break apart the moment you touch it. It's never again being in the backseat of a car big enough to fall asleep in, but having to focus on the road all night and watching every billboard that passes you by. It's a sad clown.
I feel you have given me so much already and now this?... This song, particularly the Disturbed version, reminds me of someone I loved deeply and lost. But when I hear you sing, I feel unhurt, like pieces of my little heart are being glued back together, bit by bit, note by note. Thank you
strong! thank you!!! please don't hide your sweet face behind the mic...many of us enjoy actually *watching* you sing, as much as hearing you! tx!! 🤗🌼❤️
EXACTLY what my comment was going to be! Great mic but it covers your face. Move the microphone down or to the side so that we can visualize the emotion that only the movement of your mouth can reveal. You have another new sub for life!
Puddles, I don't know if you'll ever read this but I want you to know your work has brought me great joy. Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice and unique expressions of music with the world. I live a very average life as a maintenance man at a psychiatric hospital, a husband, father, and minister. Sometimes daily life and also carrying the burdens of those I see at work and minister to is quite heavy. Your work offers me a much needed escape and always brings me happiness. Psychologically, I don't understand it (nor do I care to). I just believe you are a blessing.
Some of the comments kill me. Who has to top anyone? That was an awesome version of a classic. Clown suit and all. There's nothing silly about your talent. Nice voice. Thanks for having the nads to put it out there for us to appreciate.
+Torrent King - Hahahahahahahaha yea, definitely sound like a Western Movie in the end.... Maybe a Cowboy riding off in the Sunset! LOL :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
My husband was in a conference call on speaker when he got the upload notification and, in his excitement, forgot to mute his phone, so about 50 people were privileged enough to listen to this during their meeting.
I tripped across your "America's Got Talent" performances, and honestly I was blown away. Instant fan! Do your thing, my friend. You Sir, are awesome!!!!!! You are a Star!
Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence "Fools, " said I, "You do not know Silence, like a cancer, grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words, like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells, of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls" And whispered in the sounds of silence
PUDDLES : FINALLY, MUSIC HAS NEEDED YOU FOR A LONG TIME...IM SURE ROY ORBISON IS SMILING,MIKE..COULD YOU DO ELUSIVE BUTTERFLY, PLEASE? ITS SO SAD..BUT I LOVE SAD..
Can or would you consider doing a TOOL song they just released an album after 13 years and I would love to hear your version of any one of their songs...I'm sure many others would love as well
Puddles, your voice can transmit more than I ever though a voice would be capable to do. I don't know you personally but man, I feel like you're a good ol' friend, the kind of friend that's there for you when no one else is.
Very Western. . Delivers a story without ripping my soul apart. Has feeling and emotions that can be handled. Love it. And.my description dosent do it justice... but my words.... my thoughts. ..
I'm a little out of the loop and hadn't ever heard of Puddles before yesterday...had just listened to the Disturbed version and saw this in the sidebar...thought it was going to be a parody of some sort....and I was blown away at the voice and intensity...and then went from video to video watching other performances he's done....and I am extremely impressed. Puddles has a real talent. Big thumbs up....Subscribed
HE WON..they just could not put him in the same category with a child vantriloquist and child singer. There needs to be other categories!!! He is soooo amazing, and yes it got him some great exposure but that asshat Simon (in the middle of Puddle's song) rang the big X buzzer!!!! SO RUDE...and Puddles was so confused as to why he was being asked to stop in the middle. It was a travesty. We were only watching crap TV cause Puddles was there in it. Pfft...he WILL BE FAMOUS w/o their money and rudeness!
Gloria Deliciosa one X doesnt stop the performance. All 4 have to be hit to stop it. I didnt like that Simon did that, he would have moved on if not for that (people are sheep. If one judge doesnt like a performance during a live show, chances are slim of that person going through)
That would be awesome. And do it in a kind of haunting Johnny Cash meets Rocky Roberts type of aesthetic. And in case you don't know, Rocky Roberts did the theme song to the original Italian Spaghetti Western, 'Django,' which was re-used in Quinten Tarentino's re-make of 'Django Unchained.' Rocky sounds a lot like Elvis Presley on that track, so Puddles could do it quite perfectly since he's heavily influenced by Elvis. Check it out. Here's the link to the song. :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A3WVNT4Djb8.html
I commented, too. It only means they recorded some other tracks that day - you don't set one up to leave it... silent... Yeah, that was a bad one, but it helps quell the disappointment.
This rendition of the song is so good that most of the comments here just realized that "People hearing without listening". Pure genius the way you sang also the end is
Actually you may have hit on something there.. Can you imagine Puddles performing this song live and just mimes the lyrics with this vid playing on screen in the back? It may just be me but I think that may be an awesome bit to see !
A puddles it's been over a week your great inspiration to me buddy bring happiness to my life. I'm a cancer patient and you bring joy to my life thank you and God bless you.
Not a patient, but my uncle is one. I want you to know that there are people who love you and desperately await the day you pull through. You can do it. Hang in there -- God bless you.
I’m a cancer survivor and I know times will get bad and depressing but you need to find the strength and push on through and keep fighting!! I been there and made it! You can do this buddy!
I just randomly stumbled onto this today. And I think I cried for 10 minutes after listening to this. It's so perfect. The music representing the plight and turmoil of politics and humanity in this day and age. The sad clown representing the emotional draining on us all. It's so perfect. I want to turn this song into water and drift away in it forever into the stars.
Warum ist die Version von Disturbed legal? Aus dem gleichen Grund. Nur kann der nicht singen, der Clown hier hat dagegen richtig Talent und eine tolle Stimme.
Oh Puddles. I love Simon and Garfunkel..I love Disturbed version.. And let me tell you Your VERSION did us proud. Sung with just the amount of Passion and reverence. Again..You NAILED IT. Thank you I have been waiting for this. Fabulous job and YOU MADE IT YOUR OWN. Love it and I love you. Thank you Tonto Hiti amazing group.
For the first time in many years all of the voices in my head were quiet, all of the confusion stopped, and I wept, bitter tears of rage and pain, followed by those of acceptance and peace. I cannot express how grateful I am for these 4 minutes of peace you have given me. You have saved a life today, and from the depths of my soul I thank you.
I listen to Yanni to clear out the confusion and clutter in my head. More specifically his Acropolis Live Concert. Headphones on, noise cancelling on, the world around me OFF. Listening to and singling out every instrument, gives me tremendous focus, which applies to my every day life. My gf was abused by her husband for 10years and had insomnia and rampant uncontrollable thoughts and dreams all day...but doing this, clears her head and all those voices go away. Music is so healing AND enlightening. I just wish with all my focus, i could create music, but i create many other things with my gift.
I've just discovered this amazing man and I am over the moon for Puddles The Clown. THANK YOU !!!! A beautiful and well cultivated voice but it is your spirit and performance that carries this all the way home.
Hello Sir. "The Sound of Silence" has been a part of my soul all through growing up back in the 60's, one of the first songs I learned the words to and used to belt out while I mowed the lawn. I'm rather picky about covers of it, and I just wanted to tell you that your cover is so amazing, so passionate. Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing your singing with us.
