Puebla truly is a hidden gem... I love balance between the historical aspects and how modern the city is. The food scene is outstanding and the people are very friendly. The weather is consistently moderate but it does rain a lot during rainy season.... and Im not talking about a normal rain.... it comes down in buckets!! I'm from Hawaii(so I know a bit about rain), live in the SF Bay Area and lived in Puebla (Lomas) for a year (2018-19). During my time in Mexico, I visited over 20 cities/towns with the intention of deciding if the place is meets what Im looking for to retire. A few definitely did but when factoring in cost of living, amenities, food scene, comforts I'm used to.... Puebla won over and over. The game plan is to retire as soon as possible and move back to Puebla!!!!! Love me some cemitas!!!
@@christopherhouse7937 Guadalajara is bigger, thus comes with the issues of a bigger city, like increased traffic, for example. Guadalajara's weather is also warmer.
I'm mexican and I would prefer 10000x Puebla over San Miguel de Allende. The are many amazing cities that are treasures like Mérida, Puebla, Cuernavaca, etc... Puebla It is a jaw-dropping experience.
Well, you did it again! Every time I start zeroing in on a place to live, you show us yet another. I think I'll just have to spend a few years checking out all your recommendations for myself. Thanks for your work.
That’s my goal Marcus! To educate you on all the wonderful options in Mexico that most relocation gurus never talk about Thank you so much for watching!
Hola from BC, Canada. I dream of returning to Mexico after visiting for 3 weeks in 2018. I want to live there, so am interested in smaller places, not big cities. 😃
Try Tepic, Nayarit on West Coast. 2800-3000 ft elevation within 45 minutes of the beach - cooler up here. Smaller only about 450K population - about size of Albuquerque, N.M. Hotbed of Naturalist Medical Doctors and Naturalpathy and even Homeopathy. Far cheaper than GDL, Puebla, or CDMX and 80% less crime in my estimation. I have a friend that just moved up from the coast ( think New Orleans in the summer), as too hot for him. I drove him around as we have about 6 micro climates here. He was from San Francisco originally so after everything I showed him the Fracc. "Alaska". Named for the cool fog that hits that part of town first coming up the mountains from the beach every evening. Too cold for most but he absolutely fell in love with it and rented a studio Apt. there and loves it. No Gringo Gulch here, just a small list of Gringo and Canadian Mavericks, living amongst the very friendly Mexicans. We don't want a Gringo Gulch here - no Guayabitos crowd either. If you can't blend in, then DON'T come. We definitely don't want any Gringo Gulch here, neither the locals or us Gringos/Canadians. Cost of living is about 35-40% cheaper than in GDL. Lake Chapala area. About 1/3 of all adult males have lived/worked in USA - so very friendly, even one of our ex-Governors was an Illegal at one time. You must be able to give back on a daily basis. Gringos' first came here about 130 of them after WWII and we have a good reputation here and demand new comers keep up the good work. Peer pressure to keep it that way. People will come up to you and ask you to help them out with things like notices from Social Security from when they worked in the states. We expect you to stop take time out and help these strangers. Hundreds of Mexican have helped us out in some many unselfish ways in the past it's just "repaying Karma".
Great video! I'm curious about Puebla. Some how in some way it is kind of not talked about a lot in spite of it being the 4th largest city in country? Big food town, good weather, plenty of culture and history, decent cost of living in spite of great amenities. I have a feeling it is one of the better places to live in Mexico. Planning on exploring soon can't wait.
It probably is the best big city to live in Mexico. Just find ways around safeguarding yourself from the petty thefts. Well I guess, like most big cities?
Gracias, Mariana!
Oh my gosh what a coincidence. I just watched itchy boots RU-vid channel and she’s traveling from South America to Alaska on a motorcycle. And today she stopped in Puebla. And I told my wife I think this is the most beautiful area that I have seen in Mexico. OK those Samita‘s look a lot like a tenderloin sandwich here in Indiana. You’re really making me want to find out more about this place. Itchy boots also drove by the blue house from the artist Frida Kahlo.
In Puebla we have a lot of food and our own traditions ❤😂 🎉 Visit it in the Summer enjoy the Delicious Barbacoa Roja, Mole Poblano, Chiles Enogada and Cemitas ❤ I miss my beautiful 😢city. For all those that don't know, Audi and Volkswagen are made in Puebla Mexico ❤
I’m SO glad I found your channel! My husband and I are seriously considering retiring to MX some day. I have to say, your videos are making the choice of location in MX a tough one. After seeing your videos, I feel like we should spend at least a month in each of the top spots before making a decision. Too fun!
Yes! It happens, the more you research Mexico, the more it’ll surprise you (in a good way!) We have helped thousands of people move to Mexico with our blog and our resources. I invite you to check them out Mexicorelocationguide.com/blog
Muchos gracias! VERY good work on this Mary. I've watched zillions of these about various expat city possibilities..your presentation was informative, beautifully rendered and your tone and metering were like an awesome warm blanket to watch and listen to!
This is another great video 👍🏽 I particularly love the weather. It doesn't get too cool. And 90 degrees is certainly better than the 108 degrees we had yesterday. Thank you for sharing a really beautiful city.
Same here in Arlington, Texas!, …all week is going to be the same. Wonder how August is going to look like! Yes, it is a beautiful and refreshing city, Puebla. Hope to come see it sometime.❤️ Mariana’s approach when making videos about Mexico, doesn’t leave anything out.
Great and helpful video. I've been in Cozumel for over a decade, my kids were born here. We are really wanting to be in mainland Mexico, away from Lage expat communities, and around lots of parks and activities for kids. Oh and culture! Is there a certain area of Puebla or surrounding area that would be a good fit?
Thank you for providing all valuable info. May I ask for a favor? Please turn down music play or lower the volume. Music is distracting and too loud. Thank you.
@@MexicoRelocationGuide It doesn't, but Mexicans say that Puebla is like a suburb of Mexico City, since the vibe is pretty similar. Same Universities, same schools, same hospitals, similar malls, similar restaurants, similar nightlife, similar people, etc. But smaller.
Hello Mariana! I became really interested in Mexico when I found out how beautiful it is and how much it has to offer for people of all ages. I hope one day I'll be able to move to Mexico and live a dream life after a life dedicated to working for society and family and less for myself. Your voice is also warm and welcoming, with a soothing effect on me. Thank you for the useful and inspiring information that are so precious for me and others like me in need of a fulfilling life.
Living. retiring in Mexico is like my Dad used to describe "the good ole day's like first part of 1900's", except with modern appliances, conveniences and a really good Medical System. Plus Gringo's you feel like you have more "Freedom" NO WOKE Crap!, Women for the most part are still women and men are men. You should be discrete and stay out of Political Discussions - but 95% of the time they just laugh at you as 1.) You have no understanding of the complexity of the Political situations, 2.) They're so used to Gringos saying such dumb things, that they actually have old colloquial sayings about such. After first 6 months got rid of all "Big Pharma Meds", as life is slower and more congenial to "LIVING"!
How beautiful!!! . I absolutely love your video. Puebla de los Ángeles, my Home State in beautiful Mexico. Living in USA for most of my life, watching your videos keeps me dreaming of one day in the near future be able to move back and enjoy life. Thanks Mariana!! Greetings from big D.
Hello from Houston area. Thank you again for the video. Definitely oing to put Puebla in my bucket list. Just visited the Puerto Vallarta area (Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, Sayulita, San Pancho, Lo de Maros, Rincón de Guayabitos). Any established Expat areas? List of other retirement neighborhoods? Thank you, Julio
@@camouflageartist8897 If you don't like the Suburbs, Puebla has a lot of urban neighborhoods with street cafès, restaurants an bars. La Paz for instance has a very vibrant street called avenida Juárez, and has a lot of trendy Appartments.
@@camouflageartist8897 you can also get houses on urban neighborhoods. But they're obviously a bit more expensive than apartments. Now, Puebla suburbs may look similar to American suburbs, but they have some key differences, they're more walkable, have more public spaces, public transport, are more dense and are closer to city cores. They're not perfect, but at least they don't sprawl as much as in the US
So many wonderful places to choose from. My wife and I live in Nevada City, California (foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains). We have been vacationing in various places in Mexico every January for the past 25 years. Mostly beach cities. Not sure yet where we are going next January. Love your videos.
Thanks for sharing this video. I am absolutelyin love with that city. It really is a well kept secret but it is not overun with tourists or expats just yet.
What a beautiful city! I love the historic architecture. The city really feels like it is in Europe. Speaking as a Canadian I think the most beautiful cities in North America are in Mexico. The scenery is breathtaking. That snow-capped mountain looks just like Mount Fuji! I suppose the only drawback is possibly the altitude and thin air although it does provide relief from the heat. I could deal with the 33 degree C in the summer - that is what we have in Toronto in the summer and the rest of the year with mild temperatures and no snow would be like heaven for me.
Is there a shortage of water and is it drinkable in Puebla and the surrounding cities? Also do people throw toilet paper in the toilet or is it thrown in the trash can next to the toilet?
I live in SMA and spent time in QRO. I just took a trip to Puebla and was very impressed. It's about 30% cheaper than SMA and has the benefits of Living in a city
How is Puebla different from Guadalajara? Is the cost of living cheaper in Puebla? Is Puebla as nice of a place to live as Guadalajara?. Please respond back anyone!
The cost of living is very similar throughout Mexico with the exception of rentals and proximity to the downtown or Centro area. Guadalajara is probably slightly more expensive in terms of rentals but it is a much much larger city
Was there just for a short period but I’d like to go back. ¿Do you know if a city like Puebla will have a Dia de Los muertos celebration this year or any tip how I can find out. ?
You can most certainly count on there being a day of the dead festival in Puebla this year. But you can always google Dia de Los Muertos in Puebla 2022 and see what comes up
@@MexicoRelocationGuide Yes I just subscribed! What I love about your videos are that they are so educational overall. The way you do them/imagery I feel like I'm right there. I work for Lenovo and going to tell a lot of my colleagues and HR about your site... a lot of business travelers with this company as you can imagine so your site is a great resource.
It’s safe to live in Puebla but like any other large city there is also crime. But if you ask people living here they’d tell you they live a normal life
My favorite city! I❤ Puebla, culture, history, great food, pueblos mágicos, Angelopolis which is the new modern area with espectacular new buildings Born and raised in Puebla.
Hi, I'd love to move to Mexico in a few years, but of course I'd love to explore the country 1st (I'm completely open regarding where to live) and I wondered whether you are aware of or could recommend a multi-month vacation/tourist option to view the entirety of Mexico by tour bus that would include lodging options? Pls let me know, thanks!
We have a variety of Relocation Tours- but you have to book your own lodging and transfers between cities mexicorelocationguide.com/tours/private-relocation-tours/
Hello, Truly enjoy your videos. Your interviews plus all the content you have for cities. i have a question. there is a city that was founded by a few families. while talking to Pastor Tammy, this subject came up. now i remember watching a video with this info. would this info be one of you videos.
Riding a bicycle in Mexico in my opinion should be limited to the areas where they have bike lanes only. Which every large city tends to have in certain areas ☺️
Puebla looks fantastic. I live in Chillicothe, IL, a small town in Illinois with a small Mexican population (many are my husband's family). The Mexican population originally moved to Chillicothe due to the railroad jobs. His great-grandparents are from Guanajuato. I'm interested in at least spending a few months in Mexico when we retire in a few years. Interestingly enough, he is NOT. We'll see. For now, just looking and I love your channel by the way!
Hola! Great video, can you provide the website for the house and apartment rentals you showed at the end? I tried Vivanuncios, but most of their listings are outdated. Gracias!!
Hi Tao! Some of the listings came from the realtors we recommend in the area. To get access to our extensive directory of contacts and recommendations you have to purchase our complete Mexico Relocation Guide Check out what’s included here Mexicorelocationguide.com/guide
You really do! My pleasure Lindylee! Check out our relocation tours in Puebla to get the true local view into what it's like to live in Puebla mexicorelocationguide.com/tours/private-relocation-tours/
Hi Marianne I love the video!!! Love your channel very informative. Would love it if you do a video of what to pack and bring with you to travel in mexico while deciding where to live. How do we prepare for the big move!!! Thank you🥰
thanks Marietta- man this is a hard one because it fully depends on where you plan to move to. But I can probably do something like this for you guys :)
Hi there. It depends on your lifestyle But it can be done with as little as $1000 USD a month- although you should know that this will get you a vert very modest rental and not a Loy of budget left for entertainment etc. we think $1500 a month is more realistic as a minimum You also gave to consider health costs. ☺️
I like how you present things, yet the background music was disturbing. Please make lots more vids! oh, we stayed in Peubla, well tried to...we were on the bad part of town at night so we left and missed this gem of a city.
