How to make your own puller for Engine liners and pull them without the real tool. Let me know if this helps anyone out. This is on a 6NZ CAT C-15. Will work for basically all other engines.

I made one like that about 45 years ago but I used heavy angle iron for legs so I could miss obstacles like studs or dowels. I always put never seize on the threads and the bottom of the nut.

@@joelodico7500 ' Thanks Joe. Do you mean put lots of oil on the sleeve that fits inside the mother bore? Also, I have read that people have broken the sleeves when tapping them back in and a friend of mine, a diesel mechanic did this exact same thing and started up the machine and the rings snapped off straight away as he said its impossible to get the sleeves lined up exactly straight. This is for the finished sleeve liners. Advise or suggestions muchly appreciated.

Man I don't see anything wrong with that set up

Not as it should be ... You need a support that connects the two legs so that it does not slip, and the metal pressing piece from the top and from the bottom must be very thick .... The idea remains creative and good ... Greetings 🌹

They really don't slip once the pressure is on it. For the top I used angle metal. His ok for what he is doing . He is just helping people with the general idea not a tool built for every job and he knows that already.

Why do I always see this whacko shit for pulling liners on small diesels when all you really to do is size a hard wood and place it between the lower liner and a crank web and turn the crank shaft to them out? Forgive me for being THAT way but this is Navy Engineman A-School stuff and I have never had any issues with any small diesel doing it that way.

maybe you are talking about wet sleeves? Dry sleeves fit tighter and drag for a longer distance.
