Pulling a Move on a Mover 

She scammed a dude out of $650 while his wife was going through cancer treatment. Effing unreal.

She never disputed she owed him money in the text messages. She practiced her spiel numerous times before she came to court.

She mentioned SEVERAL times how “no one was around, he doesn’t like to handle business in front of his employees, we walked over to the side of the building where there wasn’t anyone around and I handed him the $500” that’s a load of crap. How embarrassing.

It is sickening how a woman can deflect any investigation into her immoral/unlawful behavior by simply saying "this man made me feel uncomfortable." Immediately, everyone thinks of the man as a creep or a physical threat, even if it's far from the truth. I'm glad the defendant didn't get away with it this time.

Yesterday I had a dude write me a receipt on the paper the atm gives you. Had to take the cash out of the atm and I wasn’t gonna take a chance. Thankfully he had a pen. This show was on my mind as it was happening. What would the judge say 😂

the fact that his texts asked for "the money" as opposed to "the remaining balance" were pretty good evidence for him (IMHO) hope his wife is well

It's very obvious to me that woman was lying. All the little details she threw in, in addition to the text messages proving she was ignoring the man. The judge gave the right verdict! Good to see justice win. I hope this didn't put Mr Kelly off the moving business - there are honest clients out there, too! In the future; have everything mentioned on paper or in sms. Wish him all the best, and I hope his wife is okay too. (Cancer doctor was mentioned in the sms)

Best thing to do is get a receipt by text. When she handed the cash over all she had to do was demand a text saying how much she gave. Period.

That man wouldn't steal a nickel from anyone. When I first started working in casinos back in the day when coins were still being used, my bosses had a way of weeding out the honest from the dishonest. They would leave you alone in the coin room and leave a quarter or a nickel on the floor next to the bins of coins before they were counted and rolled. If a person picked it up and put it in his pocket, he was terminated. I didn't. I just plopped it back in the bin. I had no idea they were watching me. All smiles after that. I think he may have won a bet on that. 1982. Just thought I'd share. Hope you don't mind too much.

Let's say for argument sake that she did pay him the $500 she would still be a cheat and a liar by ignoring him and not paying him the additional hundred and fifty dollars, If she thought that he was cheating her out of the $150 and she wasn't willing to pay it she should have said im not agreeing to pay that and not had him move the additional storage! If you agree to do something that's on you for making the agreement and receiving the services!

I’ve never been more proud of a verdict.

I was at a self storage facility once and this guy was trying to get into his storage locker so he could get his checkbook so he could pay his overdue balance. The lady at the counter wasn't having any of that and told him to go to his bank and get a money order.

I think the plaintiff learned an important lesson " CONTRACT! Don't do business without a contract and a down payment. Working without a contract is risky because once the person gets the service done they could bounce as if it never happened.

Never treat people wrong, who are giving you a great deal, because you might need them again some day. The plaintiff has to write up a contract with all customers and then get a non refundable deposit just in case things go left.

One excuse after the other. A mover should never work without the details in writing! Besides the obvious, at the end of the move you have a receipt saying "paid!"
