Ever rock a bore cut? Could notch those backleaners, bore them and set up your desired hinge thickness, sever the back strap with an offset or mismatched back cut, get out of the danger zone completely, then use the winch to snap the mismatched back cut. Then you don't have to risk slipping while trying to run your escape out. Know what I mean? Anyways, good job. Love that 572, I want to give one a shot. I have a 550 and a 562 and they're beasts. I use a 576 and a 372 for mid sized saws, but never the 572 yet
I do use bore cuts. Just have not in a situation like this. I like the idea though! This was the first job using the winch to pull trees over so I was not sure what it could handle. Thats why i did it the way I did. Big hinge and wedges in asap incase we needed to go with plan b if the winch wouldn't pull it!
@@joebisping6799 gotcha, good call. So it was a gas powered winch? That's cool. I've used an electric 1000lb portable winch and it was pretty sweet/impressive. Especially if you quickly set up a 2-1 on top of that
Pretty sure this is what you meant. I use it often in the same situation as long as I can pull directly agains the lean. I adjust the back kerf cut based on the lean of the tree and the equipment I'm using to pull the tree over.
