@@PCube12 He died because he touched Marcellus Wallace's soul and didn't repent his sins like Jules did. It's the price of the miracle of them not dying in the beginning. You notice they were holding the case when they didn't get shot? It was a miracle. That's why jewels is the only one that touched the case and lived. It's also widely believed that The guy that fell off the balcony ( allegedly over a foot massage)is the One that took out Marcellus soul that's why they kept telling the story about him. Yet Mia said He never touched me. Mia gave the soul to the couriers That's why she died but she came back to life. Marcellus gambled his soul on butches fight. there is nothing random in a Tarantino movie.

When Primary Colors came out, where John Travolta and Emma Thompson played characters heavily based on Bill and Hillary Clinton, they had to dance badly. Thompson complained because everyone knows that Travolta is a great dancer, but she can also dance well and the first time she really danced on film, she had to do it badly. The two of them demonstrated in an interview how you try to dance between the beats instead of on them to make it look intentionally worse. Myself, I do that because I'm actually a terrible dancer.

The obvious reason that Vincent died was because Jules left him alone . The underlying reason that Vincent died was because he was a heroin addict . Heroin abuse makes you constipated which was why he was always on the toilet . It was why he was such a f-up throughout the film and surely would've gotten Jules killed eventually . Anyone around Vincent was in danger of his stupidity . Without Jules to babysit him , Vincent lasted maybe a few hours . The divine intervention was Jules leaving Vincent to his own demon .

I watched this movie in 1994 at the cinema while skipping college. I knew nothing about this movie except for the Uma Thurman poster with the list of of impressive cast names. The cinema was packed, but I managed to find a seat in the 2nd row. For me, it was the best cinema experience I ever had. I LOVE this movie. It's still in my Top 10.

@@awkwardashleigh In the early 90s, Tarantino came out of the gate with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction--it was so astoundingly fresh and raw. We hadn't seen anything like either of those movies before. Brilliant. The Kill Bill series was too cartoonish for my tastes. But the Hateful 8 was just amazing and just as fucked up. Glad you checked it out.

It was, he was so typecast and Hollywood was avoiding him after the Saturday Night Fever movies. Bruce Willis said he would do the movie if they also hired Travolta, so Bruce is partially responsible for helping restart his career (John rocked the role, had he not done that...)

One thing I love about Tarantino movies is how he use's music that already exist in such a way that you intantly think of the movie when you hear the song.

He shot this film to have a timeless quality, using music from different eras like "Flowers On The Wall" and cars from different eras, posters, furniture, art work. You have to watch it again to catch all this. This is a technique many filmmakers have used to keep their films from looking dated.

I was just out of the Marine Corps when I watched this in the theater. When Vincent points his pistol towards the backseat, for a brief moment I thought how stupid that was but nothing bad would happen because it was a movie. I was wrong. It made me inappropriately laugh loudly when his head got blown off. Been a Tarantino fan since.

We had one of those $2 second-run theaters in my town, and this movie stayed there for 4 months; my boyfriend worked there, can't tell you how many times I've seen this. And every single time, entire theater hysterically laughed when it's funny, every time. Best memories!

@@Charlesbaker3017 Absolutely! Volume 1 and 2 in order, with snacks and your choice of intoxicants if legal in your area! They are two of Tarantino's best works...Super heavy influences of Japanese Samurai, anime and Yakuza films mixed with classic Chinese martial arts films and Italian "Spaghetti" westerns. Tarantino admits he spent a lot of time as a kid and student in matinees watching these kinds of films. I don't think you will be disappointed, as long as you remember these are fantasies, like a good Marvel blockbuster or Frank Miller graphic novel movie, like Sin City. Hope you enjoy them! (;]D'

Jules leaving is why Marsellus had to join Vincent in staking out Butch's place. Marsellus was out getting donuts when he came across Butch at the crosswalk.

Thanks Ashley! I saw this movie in '94 and as shocking as it is now, it was incredibly shocking then. The F bombs were the most in a movie at that time, and the word had not worked its way into casual conversation then. I'm glad you loved the dialog, as that set the movie apart from other flicks where dialog is simply a plot driving device - "Sewer rat might taste like punkin' pie . . ." and finally, I, just like you, did not recognize the diner. It was a complete surprise to me when Pumpkin shouted "Garcon!" After 30 years, this is still a shocker! Thanks again for sharing!

The story behind the timeline: Tarantino used to work in a movie rental store, and behind the counter was a TV showing a movie on a loop. When there was no customers, he could watch (some of) the movie. But customers came in, and he had to serve them, missing some of the movie. As mentioned the movie was on a loop, so eventually Tarantino, got to see all of it, but never in a straight timeline. This is, what he reconstructed in Pulp Fiction.

Yes. Quentin Tarantino is known for many things. But one is his BRILLIANT soundtrack choices. Over and over you hear a song and it sounds like it should not fit the scene, and yet it turns out to be the PERFECT song for the scene.

Not only is there an art in picking the right music for a scene, get it wrong and the scene is totally different and Quentin is a master at getting the right track for a scene BUT also he often does for music what he does for actors and that’s he takes what at one time was popular but has fallen out of favour and gives it a second life. So much of the music both in songs and non-original score are now known to today’s society simply because he made them iconic in the movies and no matter how much music tastes now change these tracks are now likely to forever resonate because these movies keep them relevant

The scene of Travolta dancing twist was a massive emotional bomb back then. He first became famous for his dancing skills in Grease and Saturday night fever, but then did a lot of shitty movies until most people just forgot him. Just knowing he was going to be in this movie raised a lot of curiosity, and when he danced it was like... Well, he'll never be that great dancer he was in his youth, but he was back on his feet and ready to get over all that and be cool again, just in a different way.

I personally think Pulp Fiction made a lot of money it's opening weekend because of Travolta. John Travolta was making horrible movies throughout the 80s . . . suddenly with this movie we finally get to see Travolta in a four star movie again (like the old days) . . . let's go see it. Another thing: Marsellus was with Vincent in Butch's apartment but he went to grab some food. Vincent got constipated again, left his gun on the counter so he didn't run out of the toilet when Butch came in. He thought it was Marsellus back with food.

A few tidbits: 1) Tarantino has cameos in all of his movies like Hitchcock did. He was the guy with the "Gourmet Coffee" 2) What was in the box? Originally it was Diamonds, but they thought that was boring and wanted the viewer to decide based on their imagination. 3) The bandaid on the back of Marsellus's neck was only there to hide a real scar. 4) Tarantino became so infamous for his Soundtracks that the movie awards created a whole new category just so they could give him an award for it. 5) John Travolta's career had been dead for many years and Pulp Fiction revitalized it at the time.6) Tarantino re-uses his cast in most of his movies. You'll see repeat faces in nearly all of his films.

True Romance is my favorite of all of his scripts. He sold it to finance Reservoir Dogs which set everything else in motion. I can’t even imagine how different the final product would have been on a small budget with QT directing.

Fun facts: In the opening sequence with Honey Bunny and Pumpkin, Jules can be heard talking about quitting "the life," and Vincent can be seen entering the bathroom. In the diner, when Mia orders her five dollar shake, Buddy Holly (Steve Buscemi) asks her if she wants it "Martin and Lewis or Amos and Andy?" He is referring to two comedy duos, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, two white men, or The Amos 'n Andy Show (1951), two black men. Basically, he is asking her if she wants a vanilla shake or a chocolate shake. She has vanilla. The word "fuck" is used two hundred sixty-five times. 👌
