The sound is really weird, I hope live the singing and the music is blending better. The voices sound muffled but the music does not... And the whole song sounds like those fan show acts were they couldn't find a male singer and so a girl sings the part in the original key which is for a male voice register of course. With the last two notes the performer shows she has a voice but the rest of the song she sounds weird. I don't get why they change the gender but not the key for the song to make her sound good?
It sounds amazing live, it does not translate well on these phone recordings. Honestly I wish people who posted these would just delete them, it's not fair to the show.

Fantastic performamce, bit i do miss the robotic voice manipulations from previous versions. Its one of the features of this song that makes ot otherwordly and unusual for a musical. Thats been completely removed here which is a shame. It sounds too human.

Such a weird decision. Female Electra? Sure. Female national engines? No problem. Momma not Poppa? Makes total sense. Female Rusty? Why not? But female Greaseball? It's not like the character's macho misogyny is painted favourably by the show, the whole point is he's awful. Not sure what they're trying to say.
Here’s how I view it. “Making female executives the villains of Starlight Express.” Now I wanna be clear, I don’t hate this. It’s just that characters like Greaseball would be the last characters to I would expect to be genderbent. But when it looks bad on paper, Al Knott makes up for it on stage and in the way she sings.
@@genreproductions2706 I don't rate the singing particularly but that may be largely because it's in a register intended for a male voice. The end notes prove she can belt it out when given the chance.
