I love how there was foreshadowing for the reveal that Strong Bad is actually dressed up as Homestar from the beginning - asking The Cheat to accompany him, making fun of Strong Sad, being annoyed with Homsar, rating Marzipan fairly low and Pom-Pom second place not first… The attention to detail is great in this series. ❤️
Homestar, on a date with Marzipan, cheated at the word game they played, repeatedly kicked her in the shin on purpose, and blamed it on mysterious happenstance, and spit coffee flavored super mud in her face while CONTINUING to kick her. Homestar Michael Runner, aka Kevin DuBrow, is absolutely a jerk.
I also just realized that his speech patterns match Strong Bad's from back then, too Edit: Well, minus when he's talking to Pom Pom. Then it's obvious he's trying way too hard to speak like Homestar XD
"I'm de bee!" "I'm the bee. Like. From nature." Strong Bad's Homestar gimmick was surprisingly in character for both. I didn't suspect it was SB at first watch, but I rewatched this and the judging is exactly the way SB is! xD
Re-watching this years later after forgetting the jokes but knowing the twist of Strong Bad's costume ahead of time makes it even funnier - "Homestar's" awards and banter sound a little more mean-spirited than is usual for him. Then the reveal makes it all make sense.
Also "Strong Bad"/The Goblin (hereafter SBGoblin)'s loose grasp on the world around him. "Then I [SBGoblin] felt sorry for [his pumpkin], so I put some googely eyes"
Applying some logic to "Homestar's" ratings, and judging by his reactions, here's the final rankings: Most improved - "Strong Bad" 2nd place - Pom Pom Good prize - Strong Mad Not last place - Bubs 2nd to Last place - Coach Z Tied at Last place and Worst place - Strong Sad, King of Town, and Marzipan Last place without "ding" - Homsar Invalid entry - Poopsmith
Wait a minute. I just realized after all these years that this means Strong Bad is the original person that started Witch's Brew thing and not Homestar. Crazy that we totally associate that whole thing with Homestar though.

This entire scenario sounds like one of those abstract story math problems. Knowing Pompom was in second and Homsar set a new level for last place, who actually got what ranking?
I can't believe I didn't understand "Homestar's" hiring of the Cheat until now. That was a cute little hint. Also, how did Strong Bad manage to pull off such a perfect Homestar costume and voice?
I like to think that in a way it actually was Homestar giving out the prizes, Strong Bad just took over afterwards. Honestly this has some of Homestar's best lines and I want them to really be said by him
I watched this almost 20 years ago and still _regularly_ say “my MAIN. Man. Mah Dawg. Mah ACE in the hole….second place.” I don’t find these as funny as I used to, but man, these had a superb impact on my life😂
You know what's weird? The fact that the guy Bubs dressed up as, Captain Lou Albano, voiced the guy the KOT dressed up as, Mario, and nobody even referenced it. Can I get a Captain Lou's Mario "Uh-ohhhhh," here?

Fun fact: if you click on “The king of town” you get an interactive mini game which is a spoof of the first Mario game with king as the playable character. Unfortunately he can’t jump high so you won’t get passed the first goomba. You die once and it’s game over with king singing the Mario game over song followed by him saying “my life is a joke”. It was hilarious
