We used to send styrofoam cups down on the ROV cage to 7,000’ in the Gulf of Mexico. Then put the smaller cups that came up on display back in the rig galley.

As a scuba diver I can say the water in the lake is surprisingly clear.

I think you would get more dramatic effects from this if you used way more weights so its sent down deep fast before the air has a chance to get out so you get a nice cavitation

Obtain a KB4-NS/3, use it to cut the top off an ostridge egg (good omelette), re-glue the top of the egg back, and test it against pressure. I'd use an epoxy glue, try to glue it as neatly as possible, any excess might just as well cause you issues. You can also try to pierce the top with a small drill after you've shaken the egg like you're trying to shake someone back into their senses, and eject the contents through that hole, after you've made a small needle hole to blow the guts the other way around. Then you can just use drops of glue to seal the egg shell back, tho that might be a bit difficult. I know it's possible, but i've never managed to get it all out (shaking the egg vigorously breaks up the content. I know some people have it down pat and they use that technique to save time on mixing the egg.

More deep water content! What if you epoxied the entire thing? How far can you push a deep water submersible?

If you want one that's going to hold then get a nice round casper pumpkin with no flower/stem indentation. They use this variety for pumpkin chunkin because they are dense and strong enough to withstand the hundreds of g's to which they're subjected.

The end is even funnier when you remember they’re testing it in the same place the other one was made and tested

If you put a co2 cartridge inside the pumpkin it might of exploded, even thought they are built to contain pressure I am not sure they would resist outside pressure. Maybe nothing or maybe on the way back up they would explode , if it didn't sink it back to the bottom and don't bring it home because if it did explode it could send shrapnel at you . Scuba tanks are built to do both but I am not sure about a co2 cartridge.

What underwater cases did you use for the gopros? They had to withstand a bit of pressure.

you can use an ascender OR just grab the line and turn your hand perpendicular to the line, essentially making a handle plus its faster

4:55 what kind of whale was that? Kind of looks like an orca that was checking out what you were doing. Edit: after watching you struggle to pull that line up from deeper, I realized that you should build some sort of electric windless into your boat for dealing with anchor cables and such.

I theorize it always fails at the because that would be the thinnest part of the wall since it curves in at the bottom, additionally the woody portion on the bottom might be more brittle and doesn't fail at the top because it has the stem making the woody portion thicker there.

I woulda painted on a few layers of Epoxy Resin to fully seal the pumpkin up, thus stopping minor cracks appearing, so hopefully at deeper depths, it would have gone POP and catastrophically failed... 🤔😏 😎🇬🇧

Next time get an anchor yanker (small bouy with a ring you fix around the line, go in a widening around the thing your lifting and the bouy acts as a pulley, redirecting the motion of the boat to lift. Then turn towards the bouy and take in line as fast as you can)

Coat a pumpkin in bed liner maybe? Also maybe build something so you can attach a motor to your spool of line to bring it back up for you.
