LoL i need help dyeing Latte. It felts or boucle’s (actually the boucle came out gorgeous) but i’m not shocking it, minimal agitating, low temperature. Tlingit traditionally used black & red wool so i’m dyeing solid black or red with black speckles. Slow cooker method, 1-2 skeins, citric acid & Dharma acid dye powder.
That did not happen to me with the latte! That sounds scary! Perhaps the slow cooker gets too hot? Try dyeing it on an induction burner, high water table, set to 200 and pull it off the heat once you see the dye absorbing.
@@NicoleFrostYarn lol funny development- a cousin gave her old slow cooker & i thought “well before i buy more equipment i’ll dye a skein of Latte in this one” fyi i have horrible a.d.d. so that’s why i don’t do direct heat methods & it makes me laugh that something i’m paying intense attention to boucle’s or felts lolol anywho- for whatever reason her old slow cooker dyes the Latte yarn GORGEOUS & PERFECT!! The Latte has absolutely NO felting & SOOO soft!! Guess i have 2 slowcookers now lol 1/hardier fibers & 1/finicky, delicate fibers
@@NicoleFrostYarn and knitting winter gear & socks w/boucle’d yarn & giving them to homeless people & shelters. The yarn still feels wonderfully soft & warm, it just has intermittent spots of boucle lol but it’ll socks & winter gear for people that need them the most in Alaska. :)
