Punch Out!! - Fight Theme Acapella 

As I was finishing up recording this song, I got an email from a guy who asked me to do this song as a tribute to his dad who had just passed away. This video goes out to Nick's dad. Hope it brings back some good memories!

I tried singing this during a real fight once and it worked for a few seconds to confuse the guy, then it just angered him.

I was five when I got Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! Mike was tough! Oh man, that guy could knock your lunch out I will never be able to enjoy this song quite the same again.

Now THIS is excellent, even 8 years later. This is gorgeous and an awesome tribute to one of the best Nintendo franchises to this day, if not the best to me.

The timing with that first knockdown transitioning into Mario saying "fight!" Right as the backbeat comes in is fantastic.

I went back and listened to the original theme, and while I understand that it was 8 bit music, I was blown away by just how much more stuff you added to this (the drum stuff mostly) while still keeping the original heart of it alive. Simply amazing. I keep coming back to listen to this and a few others.

When Super Smash Bros 4 comes out they need the Smooth McGroove version of Little Mac's theme for the OST.

My favorite part about McGroove's videos is that fact that he sings WHATEVER THE HECK HE WANTS. Retro all the way! These are the games I grew up playing and have forever since been playing on my violin whenever I feel down. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent, as always!

Is it just me or does bald bull rematch make the perfect fight to represent punch out as a whole with a song or something? Like just hearing this theme while watching him throw these fast challenging punches out in the patturn he does it is so entertaining with the music

This version sounds absolutely amazing. Adding the drum track was a very smart choice. It really picks up and drives the song, making this version IMO much better and more fun than the original. Also, those harmonies just sound stellar and unreal. Amazing job McGroove!!

Fun Fact: When you start the game and it says, Mike is waiting for your challenge, that is the theme from Look Sharp/Be Sharp March by the Boston Pops Orchestra. It's the 50's Gillette commercial theme.

This was the game that got me through my dad's hospitalization last summer. He had a blood clot and couldn't eat, and just threw up all night. My brother and I had to take care of ourselves for a while, then he went to the ER. He ended up being there for over a week. It was the first time anybody in my family ever had to stay in a hospital overnight. I was worried as hell. So, to get over it, I played this game. It being one of my dad's favorites, I felt beating it would make me feel better about it. I only ever made it to Tyson. And to this day in. 2015, I still haven't beaten him.

I just realized that his hats match Mac's shorts and shirt. Not only does he have a glorious voice and beard, but he also puts in clever little extras for us. Bravo Smoothie.
