This is the Pune metro VLog for August’2018. Its 17th vlog in the series of metro vlogs that I am sharing to spread awareness about the ongoing metro work progress in Pune. In this Vlog, we'll look at Latest Pune Metro rail project work progress on Vanaz Ramwadi Line of Pune metro.
Manisha has volunteered & helped me create this vlog and I appreciate her help with this. Manisha has been travelling on London underground tube network metro trains since 10 years. And she has narrated her experience of the world’s best public transport system in this vlog. She is excited about the ongoing Pune metro work. And in this vlog, we have visited Vanaz, Nal Stop, Karve Road, Riverside at Z bridge near Deccan in Pune. We also visited new swanky ‘Pune Metro information centre’ at Sambhaji garden where a PUNE Metro coach replica has been kept for citizens to have a look and feel of whats coming to Pune. Exciting times ahead !!

No matter how elite & commute friendly services are provided to the citizens, they end up seeing flaws and criticizing the same to the system. Firstly as the citizens, have to start admiring the service which is is being provided and also improvise our Civic sense that would definitely help in creating better society. By the way that was quite a good talk. Looking forward for such collaborative videos. Good work.

Nice VLog. Loved it. Excited to see more. Few things I have to say: 1) Every time you post an new VLog I compare it with the last one, to see much progress has been made. 2) I would love to volunteer with one of your Pune Metro VLog. 3) Today is my birthday, and I am hoping that when I celebrate my birthday in 2020 I will be able to ride Pune Metro.

Hi Yogesh, Firstly Great video as always. Nice thoughts and suggestions shared by Manisha as well, we hope Pune Metro will take her suggestions and try to include the same in the project at the inception stage itself if they have missed some. I also have one more suggestion regarding last mile connectivity challanges which people will face during their daily commutes. If you have noticed PMPML have recently started using new mini buses, they should synchronize those mini buses at all Metro stations which should further take people to the interiors in respected areas, which will solve the last mile challanges for a daily metro Traveller. At the same time PMPML buses can keep less frequency on the Metro routes which will indirectly get the traffic congesstion down at least on those routes. If PMPML and Pune Metro work together we can surely see a new local transport system for growing Pune. Omkar.

Would like to correct the comments that the water level at Z bridge was near its maximum. No sir. Its nowhere near maximum. I have sent videos to you last month showing how the pillars were partially submerged in water and you have shared them in your previous vLog. Even at that time the water level was not at its maximum. At its maximum, water enters nearby chawls and Baba Bhide bridge is closed long before this.

Rawindra Mehendaley Oh right. I completely missed that. Thanks for this comment. Do you see a problem in such case of near flooding ? Are you aware if NGT case is still pending or clearance received by metro?

My assumption for the reason behind lack of interest of people in the ongoing Metro Project is that people, especially majority of students, dream of working either in abroad or in other Indian cities where the job/work opportunities r better. And since, by the time the metro in Pune becomes operational, many will have already moved out of Pune, the young students may not be displaying too much enthusiasm abt the metro. For them, cities like Mumbai, Delhi & B’luru may appear much more attractive than Pune, considering the condition of the city’s infrastructure and public amenities. So therefore, they may not be much interested abt the happenings around the metro project. Also, there’s a general conception that, for any project to happen in r city, it is impossible for it to escape from the numerous delays and backlogs. Also the constant negligence & bickering among local MLA’s may contribute to this mindset. This assumption may necessarily not hold true for the entire public but maybe for some ... But at the same time, one cannot deny that Pune is rapidly catching up with other Indian counterparts in terms of civic infrastructure but,...it still has got to improve a lot more.

Very nice video. I think a vlog on Kolkata metro which is the oldest metro in India should be made. We can see how successful it is and what kind of problems are faced by it.

What Manisha did not tell you about London Underground 1. There is no AC in trains. temperatures in summer reach a sultry 38 degrees. Yes. 2. Not all trains have CCTV. 3. The rolling stock of London Underground for some lines are very old. Some have markings of 1973-1975. 4. Not all stations have disabled access. Only 70 out of 270 Tube stations have some degree of step-free access. That means its hard for people with disabilities to get into the underground. 5. London's largest crossrail project is running delayed by approximately 1 year. So wake up guys, India is not the only country with issues.

Well done YogiLogic! I understand a lot of work goes into making a single vlog. This keeps us informed about the project work while we are away from home. How about a bi-weekly vlog #beinggreedy 😁

Vishal Ghanekar Yes, things have moved forward for the Hinjawadi line. It's categorized as a ultra high priority project now and backend work is in full swing. I don't see the actual ground work starting for next 6 months though !
