The worst part about the Sharks game too...is their ONE goal was such obvious goaltender interference that even it shouldnt have counted. They didnt review it because... who reviews a goal against when you have already scored 10, theres no class in that, but if that is a closer game, that wont count.

Good on Tocchet for letting it go, interference or not. Demko still had a .968. And the Sharks had about the toughest schedule in the league leading up to the game. Blackwood and Kahkonen are up against it every game. I hope Blackwood beats the Pens or Flyers.

A team usually takes the identity of its star players. Unfortunately for the leafs their star players are soft and scared of any rough stuff. Look what happened last playoffs when Point went into the boards. It was Kucherov and Stamkos that immediately jumped in. Even when Draisaitl got chopped by Pietrangelo McDavid rushed in and did something. Go down the list. McKinnon, Crosby etc. They all aren't afraid to respond. Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Rielly are all soft af.

Meh, Crosby and Malkin aren’t much responders. Yet they have three cups. That being said, Crosby is the kind of leader that can fire up his team and get them to respond. I don’t think Matthews or Tavares necessarily needs to be more physical, but if they won’t do it themselves they need to do a way better job of firing up guys like Reaves and Bertuzzi to be physical for the rest of the team.

46:40 Using Kampf in the opening faceoff of OT is not because he's the best faceoff man. It's so that if he wins it, he goes to the bench and they sub in Matthews. If he loses it, he's one of our best defensive forwards and he stays on the ice to defend until we get the puck. His role isn't take the faceoff and leave right after no matter what. Agree with that strategy or not, but Kampf wasn't "stranded" because he couldn't go back to the bench. The plan is he stays out to defend, and that's what he did.

High ankle probably 6-8 weeks depending on how bad. The AITF ligament is very important for stability of the distal tib fib joint Which is very important for ankle stability and ankle movement. Same with syndesmotic membrane tear

How about a referee of same calibre up in the boxes overlooking close ups of "oopsies" and a delayed penalty called? maybe minutes later? is that the solution? because you guys have the luck of using slow motion/repeats, that referee is being blinded by Marchand's action in full speed, by Marchand's body.

Outside of Boston the other 6 teams in the Atlantic are very close. The difference between last and second is 5 points. Easily the best and most competitive division in the NHL.

It's not what Marchand thinks so much as what your injured teammate thinks, what the rest of your teammates think, what your fans think, what you think of yourself. Man, I've seen a lot of bad Leafs teams over the years but I have never been so suddenly sickened (except for maybe after the Knies injury vs Florida) and just done with a game like I was that night. In the heat of action, there are lots of variables that you can't control, but this is something every player on that team could have shown in any myriad of different ways - and they just didnt, absolute crickets besides some mild words from a bench ridden Reaves. It's a worrying trend to see these guys so ultra apathetic. Who would want to be on a team where your teammates couldnt give an eff about you or eachother? It's bad mojo, man.

I am a Red Wings fan who loved Tyler Bertuzzi. I remember watching him play for Guelph in The OHL and kept hoping he'd make The Red Wings. I hated losing him last season but I understood why. When he is healthy he plays with snot. Something is wrong with him. It's sad that The Leafs can't give him time off due to cap restrictions.

The 19-20 Red Wings were so abysmal, the fact that the last 11-12 games of the season were cancelled was a mercy. Even so, the Wings still won 3 of their opening 4 games. To see that the Sharks have 1 point in their first 10 games does make me wonder if they're actually worse, but time will tell.

You know, I feel like if Matthews just got in a scuffle or 2, he might realize that getting punched in the face sucks, but its not that bad lol. I feel like he forgets that he's a pretty big guy... just throw it a little bit. Take that punch in the face and laugh as you hit him back.... Nobody is asking him to be what Reavo was in his first 2 games, just get in somebody's face from time to time and let them know you're gunna do something about it...

We've all seen locker room footage from lots of teams and I swear every single one of them where the lineup board is visible they have the reffing line up in the top corner somewhere. It's never been recorded but the only reason they have it anywhere has to be because the coach has a talk about who's calling the game tonight with the players pregame. Which is kinda wild that you even have to do that.

The only way to fix this team is to trade for some sandpaper. You aren't going to get a Konecny cheap. If I'm Toronto, I try to deal Marner for Konecny and Hart. If I'm Philly I consider it but I worry that Marner is going to pout and not be cooperative in Torts system.

The Leafs window is the Matthews Contract. A healthy 34 gives you another 4 year window. Starting 24-25. This year with this core and this sal-cap, Leafs already shown who they are not (Thx Marchand). Everyone but 34 is tradeable. If Brad is who Sheldon thinks and wagers he is, their Stanley window starts again next year.

Guys this is your most insightful and brutally honest episode I've ever listened to. I fully believe that the Leafs will have two years of struggle because of the salary cap, then Treliving (if he's still here) will make massive changes after the 24-25 season. Until then there's almost nothing that can be done and we are effectively playing entire seasons and short playoff runs with no depth and no cap flexibility. Hopefully some of the young prospects come through big and we have heaps of cap relief to bring in depth particularly on defense.

@@cardsnbargains1873 A couple of years ago, he was suspended for slew-footing OEL while playing against the Canucks. I didn't see the game, so I tried to look up the slew-foot on RU-vid and found the clip. Except the jersey's were wrong. ... Because it was a clip of Marchand slew-footing OEL when OEL still played for the Coyotes. Not only was this not the first time he did this. This wasn't even the same time he did the same offence to the same player. The fucker is dirty. If he wasn't protected by the NHL, he would have been kicked out permanently by now. And if you try and go after him in game, then forget about it. The refs will hit you hard.

the ENTIRE point of kampf in overtime is if the faceoff is lost kampf is the better player. him and marner are the pk, why waste matthews skating around and getting tired when hes chasing a puck? what offensive opportunities are missed because of this? none, he gets off as soon as posession. low hanging fruit to be mad about. everyone praised it when it started, because it was objectively better.

I think that people fixated too much on the last names Domi and Bertuzzi, I don't know what people keep talking about with them bringing sandpaper? Like neither of them have ever fought much in their careers. Bert was constantly hurt when he was in Detroit, no way he is fighting much lmao I don't think he's ever played a full season I do think the Leafs are figuring out that they got regular season Detroit Bert and not playoff Boston Bert Domi frustrated me to no end in Dallas cause he takes waaay too many unnecessary penalties

adam continuously not understanding the pens' situation is honestly hilarious. even if we don't make the playoffs this year, dubas can't go "we're rebuilding". a) the team is not rebuilding until sid has retired. b) sid, geno, tanger & karlsson ALL have full NMCs. what are you gonna do, tell them to waive them so they can be traded? lol karlsson may do that if we implode but his plan for now is to finish his career here. sid, geno & tanger are not going anywhere. they're going to try for the cup until sid retires. everyone else on the team can change - they cannot. and besides, like. we know we're gonna suck after sid (&geno) retires. we're aware of that. but that's when he retires. why bother thinking about that now. we want him to get another cup. we can worry about the rest later (of course, dubas' job is worrying about it NOW but he is - he's trying to already start the rebuild while still allowing our core to try for the cup again. and he did the best he could over the off-season. we have players that actually [mostly] fit the team. they just need to actually start winning LOL)

if it holds up, than absolutely. they are allowing 4.4 goals per game which is the most since the sens second season in the 90s so definitely worst defense this century so far. and the offense is averaging 1 goal per game which would be unprecedented across nhl history for how much that sucks. 4.09 is the worst goals allowed per game single season, done so by the ducks last year, while 1.83 by the 2013-14 buffalo sabres. considering both are fairly modern marks i think it's possible they keep it up, but it'll be difficult.

Larkin is the Captain, and arguably the wings best player, and he is not afraid to stand up for his guys, leaders need to step up, doesn’t look like the Leafs have that.

I think Adam stole my comments from the last LFR. After every questionable hit ( any nasty infraction ), the nearest Leaf has to go after the opposing player. No matter who it is. If it is one of the core four and he loses badly, it still does more for team morale than waiting for Reaves to get on ice. Failure to do so means being benched. Also, hire a boxing coach, waive Reaves, waive Bertuzzi, and put a speed bag in every locker. They lost way more than a hockey game.

I feel bad for the kid at his first sharks game. I can remember my first wings game though. They lost 8-2 to the blue jackets in 2008. The year that they won the presidents trophy and the cup and the jackets were one the worst teams in the nhl lol.

What if you were the guy who's ended up crashing into the boards? Would you still think that was an ok play? It was an attempt to injure another player and he succeeded. We've been all conditioned to accept that crap. It will cost that young player a lot of $$ down the road, he was just starting to play top 4 dman. Now that is set back a year. And you say it's ok.

Just a tid bit about the Markstrom goal, don’t blame him entirely. It wasn’t that he let up, it’s that the puck didn’t have enough juice to make it to the trapezoid so he couldn’t play it. Nevertheless a misread but if it did he could have played it out of harms way.
