Love this. I kept stalling my gr86 when I got it. One week later…. I was STILL the grand master of stalling. getting the feel for everything takes time Loving the sound of the engine. Congrats on the purchase
I love this video! Congrats on the car and thank you for including the clips of you driving it for the first time. I picked up a manual hatch and was so scared to drive it at first. I stalled multiple times at the test drive and almost did not buy the car. 2 months later and I’m feeling so much better about driving it. We really all do start somewhere and thank you for being real with it!
Of course man! I put this video out there so noobs like me won’t be afraid to buy a car they don’t know how to drive! It’s okay that you don’t know and that you suck! We all start somewhere! Thank you for watching the video and supporting the channel bro. Appreciate it 🙏🏽
Yeah man! Gotta show people we all start somewhere! I hope this inspires people to go get a manual & not be afraid of learning something new! Thank you for the support 🙏🏽
Thanks for including your first time driving and stalling in the vid bro. I was learning in my friend's manual a few days ago and was having the same trouble taking off. Those red lights are the real pressure tests especially with someone behind you and you handled stalling very well! Congrats on the GR bro hopefully i'll get mine soon
Thank you for the confidence boost Mett 🙏🏽 it’s only nerve-racking the first few times, after that, practice makes perfect! 🔥 thank you for watching the video 🙏🏽 I hope you get your GR asap! Wish you the best of luck 🙏🏽
Just going back into the past vid(This) because I've watched your buying process vid. This is for those who are FIRST EVER learning how-to drive Standard vehicles. Usually when I teach people when they first-ever try to learn how to drive standard, and I can relate this to riding a Motorcycle: In terms of a motorcycle they have(as well as in cars but way more forgiving) what we call a "friction zone." This Friction Zone is an area in the clutch lever[(in this case: pedal) when the vehicle is in Gear] that grabs onto the gear and "assists" the vehicle to go in motion. In that area, you add gas. When you're learning on a motorcycle, your instructors want you to feel the Friction Zone, and when you do "feel" the zone adding gas comes easier. When adding it comes easier, then you can focus on shifting, then etc. etc. Remember to let off on the clutch as you don't want to burn it lol. Happy Driving y'all, stay safe!
@@GeovanisGarage yeah no worries man! Keep it up. I know in your buying process you’ve improved a lot. Once you got it down man, next step is heel-toe rev matching ✌🏽
Congrats dude. Came here from the GRC forum. Glad to see a lot of people giving you support in the comments. I bought my wrx without knowing how to drive stick and now 4 years later everything is still fine! Cars are meant to be driven, don't fret it.
Ayyy bro don’t worry the start is Always rocky and you will do it without even thinking about it , am due for the summer , hopefully I get a crack at the circuit edition
Thank you for the motivation bro! 🙏🏽 appreciate you watching the video and supporting the channel! 🙏🏽 I hope you get grab that circuit edition. Will be a timeless car! 😭🙏🏽
Damn this brings back memories. I’m 32 and I bought my first car when I was 20. It’s was a Mazda MX5 with a 5 speed manual. I didn’t know how to drive stick and my step dad drive it home. But he refused to teach me. I stayed up till 3am when traffic was light and taught myself. I never looked back. Every car I e ever owned since then was a manual. You choose a HELL of a car to learn to drive stick on, but you’re a natural bro. I wish you lots of smiles man. SO happy for you brother. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Hope I can get lucky and get one too.
That was a great video. When I went on my first drive with my manual transmission Corolla hatchback I stalled it like 3 times. Lol can’t wait to see your content. You taught my how to modify a car. Your videos really gave me the confidence to do things with my car. Keep it up.
Appreciate you watching the video kody 🙏🏽 also thank you for the support on the channel 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I’m glad I was able to help! You already know if you need help, hit me up! 🫡
Dude this video is so comforting, you don't even know. I'm getting a circuit edition this week and its my first manual car. I'm exited to get it but dreading the drive back. I literally only practiced once driving stick, and getting the car to move from 1st gear was the most challenging. I practiced for a couple hours and was getting it down, but don't have it 100%. I practiced on an Old Integra LS and the clutch was super sensitive. Wish me luck bro!
props for uploading this. Ive been in that position and its def nerve-racking. Really feels like friends just learning thing and that's awesome. Congrats
Congrats on your GRC (GR Corolla)! Don't worry about being laughed at for stalling. We all have to start somewhere. Even people who has been driving manual on a regular basis can still stall once in a while for a variety of reasons. Take it easy and it'll be second nature for you in a week or two.
Do this. On a flat surface dont give it gas and put it in 1st. Slowy release the clutch. The point were the car starts crawling without giving it gas. This point is really really close to your release point. Learn that pedal feel with your left foot. Do it again and give it gas and from there every other gear is easier than 1st.
Owner manual says for the first 621 miles to not : Do not drive at extremely high speeds Avoid sudden acceleration Do not drive continuously in low gears Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods
Great job and congrats! I'm looking forward to getting one... soon, I hope. Everybody's first time with a stick looks like that but most aren't on RU-vid. I'm excited for the car so I was excited to come along and see you get yours. Looking forward to more vids.
Thank you thank you 🙏🏽 I wish you the best of luck on getting yours! It’ll be well worth the journey! 🔥 appreciate the you joining my journey! Will be a great one! 🙏🏽🔥
Im new to manual like very but I’m trying to get this as my first manual good to see this I don’t feel as bad burning out in my cousin car and stalling lol
Easy choom, I've been driving manual transmission since I was 14, i just turned 32 its years of practice...now if this comes out in Blue Flame I might have reconsider selling my '21 non turbo 🕹🕹🕹
Does this car have the i manual mode? My XSE had it and I taught my wife how to drive on it. I applaud you for being brave enough to purchase a car you don’t know how to drive yet. But if you have i mode, just let the clutch out slowly and the car will get going on it’s own.
@@GeovanisGarage Driving manual cars is a feel, you are actually connected to every aspect of it, man I miss my Hatchback, it was blast to drive and handled like a champ for what it is. I come from driving manual Camaros, Mustangs and Vettes so the Corolla was a refreshing comfortable and easy car to drive, Toyota clutches feel great. I’m jealous of the GR bro congrats, new year with plenty of content.
I could only imagine how it felt when Freddie handed you the keys 🔑. I am positive you will get used to that manual shifter sooner. Congrats 👏. Looking forward to see what you have for this beautiful monalisa
Dude you could see it in his face. Such a genuine guy! 🙏🏽 thank you for those words and motivation. 🙏🏽 appreciate you watching the video and supporting the channel man. 😭🙏🏽
Congratulations brotha i know it how it feels because i got a manual gr86 and didnt know how to drive it. I stalled so many times but once you get it down its so fun to drive
I’ll do a full price break down video soon! Depends on the dealer bro! Some dealers do markup, some don’t! It’s a rare find to find a dealer with markup unfortunately! But don’t be discouraged!
Congrats man! Excited for this journey. My first manual car was a Corolla hatchback and iMT helped me a lot. When I first drove it I was like you but you’ll get it soon enough.
Sooooo…. What did you pay? Good on you for goin to a dealer and buying a manual not knowing them. I drove the XSE this year and the new manuals are easier to learn on than most 90s cars.
I’ll have a video of the full breakdown of the price! &. Thank you for the support 🙏🏽 this manual was easy to learn! Once I got it, I got it! Just got humbled real quick 😭🤣
Once you get the hang of it you won’t ride the clutch I own a 21’ Tacoma off-road 4x4 manual and I love my janky ass six speed lol. Doubt that the Corolla gr isn’t as janky as my Toyota
Congrats!!! 😢 I’m kind of sad I just got a 22 Hatchback. And now I’m seeing some people in Jersey paying 31k for a gr!! 😩😩 My hatchback finished at around 30, my loan is for high 27!! I could’ve afforded it! But hey I have 4 more years of releases apparently
Aye bro you got it just gonna take a lot of practice and muscle memory don’t worry about trying to do it fast or anything like that don’t let the people behind you rush you into going just take your time n get you body used to driving stick cause it is gonna take a while my first car was a 2004 Sti back when I was in high school in 2005 n it’s all just muscle memory at the end of the day just take your time let your body get used to driving manual and no slamming the gas😆😂🤣 just ease into it my guy. lol but congrats on the new whip can’t wait to see what you got planned for it
Thank you bro! 🙏🏽 I appreciate you being positive! giving me a better outlook on manual driving. I’ve been driving the car for about 3 days now and it’s so fun. Never knew a 6 speed was so fun 🔥 appreciate the advice man 🙏🏽
@@GeovanisGarage definitely my guy manuals are so much fun to drive just to know you have full control over the car compared to a auto doing all the work is just a different kind feeling but I know you’ll get the hang of it eventually
I’ve been asking for this thing a year! I’ve been non stop bugging for a year straight. I’m lucky that I work 3 mins away from the dealer! Thank you Fernando! 🙏🏽
@@GeovanisGarage it is so much fun! I have a manual '17 Corolla hatch and am hoping to upgrade to a GR in the next few years. I'm excited for your content with it 😁
@@GeovanisGarage Definitely a blessing. I was in the same situation only familiar with the basics and i wanted to be proficient to drive manual. So i had my father-in-law come with me to the dealership and he drove my manual corolla IM home and afterwards forced myself to drive manual and love it.
@@GeovanisGarage I meant to give you advice that I learned when learning manual! First, practice learning to control the throttle and hold it steady at like 1500rpms. Once youre comfortable, 1) Clutch in, 2) hold throttle at 1500 3) slowly release the clutch until you start to feel the clutch engagement, and the car starts moving, then apply more throttle to get moving and slowly release the clutch! Hope this helps!
dude, u need to practice in parking lot until u don't stall before going on the street. driving it's the easiest thing, give it a lil gas then release clutch slowly. you're endangering yourself and others on public roads. man u wear a lexus shirt, u seem like a nice guy, but u need to stay off public roads until u stop stalling the car in 1st gear
Such a strange thing to thank a stealership for “all they did”. Dude, they took your money and gave you a product. They should be thanking YOU. Chances are you paid dealer markup as well. 10k over sticker I’m guessing. Just weird.
