This is a recording of Purdue University's old siren system. I believe I recorded it for the statewide drill back around 2008. I thought it was gone forever after RU-vid deleted my old account but thanks to the magic of backups, I found this video on my external hard drive! Unfortunately, all of these sirens have been replaced with newer Federal sirens. The most prominent Thunderbolt that is heard was replaced with at 2001-130 back in 2010-ish. The xT22's were replaced with Eclipse 8's a few years later ( • Federal Signal: Eclips... ). The new system is much more reliable and battery-backed and will last for years to come, but nothing will replace the sound of the old system. Thankfully, the old system will live on via digital video on RU-vid.
