I like that C-entertainment shows really "push the envelope" in so far as music entertainment is concerned - the celebs not only get to collab with singers of different genres but also experiment with different styles and arrangements. Singers like Zhou Shen who is extremely versatile, can really tap into their creative juices, be it honing his skills in rapping, or fusing electronic dance music with classic Tchaikovsky! (Clue to his next piece and your next Reaction maybe?!) As a fan I love it - I get to hear and learn about Chinese, Asian and Western music genres. What else hasn't he done - Jazz, blues, who knows? The world is his oyster and the more people hear of him the better and your channel is definitely showing the way for a wide variety of music 👏👏
I used to wish for at least English Sub when watching a show with Zhou Shen in it. I remember I made a comment to the uploader (a Chinese TV Station) then someone commented it'd be faster for me to learn Chinese than waiting for them to put the Eng Sub. So I did. I started learning Chinese through some apps and some channels in YT. Even though I'm not fluent, but now I can understand Chinese show. And guess what, it's almost been 4 years but that particular show hasn't put an Eng Sub 😂 Thank you for reacting to our Zhou Shen. ❤

What I meant was I used to wish for at English Sub when watching Chinese show with Zhou Shen in it ☺ and the suggestion that particular person told me to, to learn Chinese rather than waiting for the Eng Sub, I was actually recommending you to do it too 🤭🤭🤭 it was a very interesting journey, learning a new language on my age. After the deceptive classical western instrumental intro, ZS started in a weary voice of easy listening to reflect the content of the story, then on to classical Beijing opera, then echoing, then rap, back to popular, then back to rap, then on to different Chinese dialects with the finale ending in opera again. He added 2 cheeky countertenor laughter to mock the other person, which to me was quite brilliant. The song is essentially a lovers quarrel , with accusations against each other. You are right that ZS loves exploring and experimentation. We see he tries to stretch his creativity as far as he can. The last sentence of the lyrics sang in Opera voice is- why are you so heartless? powerful, memorable and a new genre of singing invented by ZS.

My interpretation of the song is: A heartbroken man, having his female partner walked away from him, had been drinking excessively. While thinking of her partner, at times, he tried to put blame and found excuse on her. Subconsciously he cannot totally forget her. Then deep inside him, his subliminal//subconscious identity (Zhou Shen) was teasing his true self (Liang Long), telling him that he should have done some self-examination and could have at least made better effort in keeping the relationship. That is why throughout the song, Liang Long seemed to be very down and shown some anger at times while Zhou Shen continued making fun on him. At the end, Zhou Shen finger-pointed at Liang Long saying he was heartless!
In rearranging this song, Zhou Shen had intentionally added in many special skills that he had gathered throughout these years. There's a lot of ways to interpret this song (based on how the listener identifies, I guess). Some of the most common versions I've seen are: 1. Two men who got dumped are commiserating and getting more and more drunk together. 2. A man who is getting drunk after being dumped, having an argument with his subconsciousness while in the drunken daze. 3. A man and his ex-girlfriend having a (drunken) spat. In any case, lots of alcohol is involved. After all, the first line of the song and repeating chorus is: "A cup of erguotou (a type of liquor), makes my eyes tear up." The last two segments by Zhou Shen are sung in his native dialects of Guizhou and Hunan. Basically the kind of drunkenness where your native accent starts to slip in.

If I were not wrong the official title for this song is “Heartless you”. It was like a Chinese crosstalk art culture but main musical form. Lianglong acted as the drunkened being cheated rejected guy complaining about his upset feeling. Zhoushen acted as the little “Monster” trying to use different manners like using Beijing opera singing art, Chinese and dialects rapping and bel canto coloratura laughters to make fun of him to perfect the crosstalk Chinese culture. Only Zhoushen can achieve such high professional singing skill to accomplish the role as the “monster” to make fun of Lianglong. In the last stanza Zhoushen sang in the Beijing opera style “You are truly heartless”!
