I fucking love that moment. Unrelated but when Sakurai said they "cancelled that idea," he was referring to players being locked into the difficulty they chose. Very Hard is almost as difficult as the AIs in launch day Ultimate which had to be toned down in one of the patches, so he felt it wasn't fair for the people to be locked into one difficulty for the fight to unlock him. Though i kind of wished they included that bit in there, he is a final boss...
I actually thought he was saying they cancelled the idea of having only one try at it. It’s really cool of Nintendo to make events like this, whether they’re easy or hard to organize. Events like this boss fight induce the sort of child-like wonder that nintendo wants to be known for, and I hope it becomes a regular occurrence.
@@mrmanwithchocolate nah, this particular mode might be a one time thing since Sephiroth's quite the famous final boss. If they're going to include an unlock a character early event again, it probably won't have as much flair to it.
Let’s gooo! Although I really wished we got a Zack and other FF protagonists like Squall, Terra etc as Mii Costumes but I’m hype! Also rip Nico. He’s getting KH1 flashbacks after the Sephiroth Challenge. Although this might not happen, but if by some miracle Sora and or Dante ends up as DLC, Nico has to go in the streets and dance to Simple and Clean or Subhuman while wearing a Donald Duck Outfit😂.
I love everything about this! I love that they made him a bit broken. The only thing I wish we got was his English voice. I expected that it wasn't gonna happen. But a man can dream.
@@antonhagbox02 Cloud's former ENG VA (Steve Burton) is a union actor whereas Smash is a non-union work. His contract also made it so that only he can voice Cloud in English and he HAS to do it under his real name (so no pseudonyms to work around it). Unsure about his remake VA though. I don't know if Sephiroth's VAs are under the same issues but even if they weren't, I imagine it would be jarring to have him speak English while Cloud didn't so they too just left him in Japanese.
As one who dislikes "more anime sword fighters", the entire point is that they are generic, and all feel the same to play. Can you _honestly_ tell me that applies to Sephy here?! Or Sora if he makes it in?
We got 9 music tracks and 4 new remixes/arrangements, so I’m happy with that part! Sephiroth’s gameplay looks fun to play and seems like a nightmare with edge guarding. I’m so happy Sakurai pulled through and delivered another amazing character as always! 🥰❤️
I Never was the biggest ff fan, as I’ve always been more into kingdom Hearts in comparison. But Sephiroth is SO FREAKIN COOL. Speaking of KH, the dream of sora being in smash still ain’t dead!!! Thank god he wasn’t revealed as a Mii costume 😂.

@@LordTyph Yes, Chrom and K.Rool became playable in the next installment. There hasn't been a case where a Mii costume became playable in the same installment. You gotta take this into account, come on now.
What I like about Sephiroth in Smash He's literally a playable Boss His attacks are insane He has Phases (the wing pops out as a desperation effect) And the only opponents worthy of fighting him in Classic are Bosses And in the final fight you're in Sephiroths stage and his original Theme The final boss isn't the hands The final boss is Sephiroth lol

I don’t know anything about Geno, but being included as a Mii fighter means that they couldn’t make a good moveset for him, right? I’m glad they found a way to work him anyways, in just like they did Sans.
I can't wait for Sephiroth to be released. Plus Advent Children is one of my favorite movies, it did an amazing job on concluding the FFVII storyline. Plus the voice actors did a really amazing job. Steve Burton always did an awesome job as Cloud Strife, Christy Carlson Romano is always great as Yuffie Kisaragi, as well as all of the others.
I’m surprised people don’t get bored of Smash. It’s like: “Oh, my favorite character is in smash, this is so hype! I’m going to play as them for 20 minutes and then never touch the game again. But this is still hype, trust me.”
I mean #FreeMelee is a thing if you missed that. Aside from the people who play casually, there are people who are completionists in their games and people who play in tournaments. Plus people who haven't picked it up until recently or still haven't picked it up but might in the future. A game doesn't die just because the hype dies.

26:20 - I feel like Nico streaming a Kirby game needs to happen at some point. That would be cool and hilarious. Guys, what would be a good Kirby game for Nico to stream? Star Allies, or something else? I know Kirby Super Star is on the SNES Online service, right? Maybe he can start there. Of course, this is up to Nico, not me. I'm just tossing out some ideas. :P
@@YukiMizuno Super Star Ultra is basically an updated port/remake with only a few extras that the original SNES game didn't have. (Mainly a story mode where you play as Meta Knight.)
Serious question does any other fighting game do this where they reveal who the new character coming to the game is and then a week later has a video by the creator telling you who the character is and showing you just how this character plays because I don't remember Mortal Kombat or Fighterz doing that
its like sakurai was just as frustrated that they split the remake up. He told himself: "%^&% it I'm making the FF7 remake ending myself" like there was no need to put all that story detail into the stage.

For me though I think being involved with Disney actually gives him better chances, because there's no way they'd use another spot on another SquareEnix character otherwise. It can be rationalized that since SquareEnix is a merged company, the FF characters represent Square, the DQ Heroes represent Enix, and Sora could represent Disney, in a way
@@ettel8358 True but it does show Disney is okay with other people using their properties. Not to mention they did make a few crossover games recently. And I feel like Disney wouldn’t be nearly as overprotective of Sora. Especially when you compare him to the likes of Mickey Mouse or frozen. We’ll just have to wait and see tho.
My brother legit thought when the trailer started it was gonna be Sora well when the trailer dropped I should say. Which if it was possible would be amazing but we have a better chance of DOOM guy then Sora
