In this project I needed a 5 strips purfling for a treble viol. You can't buy 0.3 mm veneer, so I made my own using pearwood and limewood. Then I dyed my pearwood shavings using what is supposed to be the old master's process. If you need to make your own veneer like I did, a pair of extra hands will be welcome when using the plane: two for pushing down and two for pulling forward. This is the most challenging part.
