Cam is my favorite rapper because he never changed up his business mind outside rap was strong he owns Waffles houses and real estate a a true Harlem hustler fr. Rest in Peace to his moms to ❤❤!!
It’s crazy to me how some people are saying they think the album is trash. I still bump it to this day . One of my favorite albums of all time . Classic in my opinion
far from trash, but yeah it was a bit of a letdown in my opinion considering what was expected. regardless he put out soo much n had the streets on lock soo much that the album almost didnt even matter that much. dude was musically lowkey the wheel of the roc...dipset n state prop pretty much... jay n memphis wasnt doing much not really
First off, R.I.P. Fedricka Giles Unfortunately, I was locked up for Purple Haze. I think I was 14, 15, & by the time I came out I got shipped to D.R. When I got back in early 2005, I was greeted by Purple Haze & Diplomatic Immunity 2, so imagine my surprise. The white/ grey slushy snow, the grey skies, the cold weather, Pelle leathers & North Face parkas. Niggaz still had the State Property flight jackets, throwback basketball & football jerseys, what a time to be alive & young & reckless. Dipset really had shit on lock, specially in Ny, & me being from Washington Heightz just made it special, since Harlem is our neighbors/ brothers.. Fav tracks tho, def “Killa Cam”, “Dopeman”, “Dipset Forever”, “Get’em Girls”, “Bubble Music” & def “More Gangsta Music”
I love Killa Cam and Project Pat! They music so cold and niggas be sleep on em. This Purple Haze album I used to bump Down and Out with Kanye and Syleenna Johnson and day Adrenaline Rush remix with Twista was cold. It was Killa Cam that was my favorite track off This album
Ayo I argue with my mother, spring, summer, fall, winter time “Get that off the table Cam’ron, it’s dinner time” I got a line downstairs ma, I’m in the grind From ten to nine, you do your business right, let me attend to mine You cooking pork anyway, I ain’t into swine R.I.P Cam'Ron Moms Ms . Giles
Ahhh yes purple Haze. I was a junior in high school. Loved just about every song on this album except down and out with Kanye. I remember hearing certified gangsters from Jim jones on MTV2 and heard Cam Flow. Ever since then I was like this guy is different. I bough every single one of his albums in a 6 month period from purple haze. One of my top 5 rappers. While everyone was all about south rappers and loud screaming on tracks cam stood out with his laid back flow and word play. Unique and one of kind
This album dropped my sophomore year in high school and I was a cam fanatic! I played it everyday day for 5 years straight and I still do play it shit I played it at work today! To me this is a top 5 hip hop album of all time !
C/O 06! We had classics all throughout high school smh. College Dropout, The Carter 1&2 the G-Unit run, Purple Haze. Even that Terror Squad album and Nas Streets Disciple just to name a few
My favorite record my favorite album Killa Cam I can listen to that song on repeat The Bases Loaded we about to set this off the wall this is a classic I don't care what nobody say if you ever got a new car a good system this is the song that you test cuz your rear-view mirror going to be shaking Yahoo Trump going to be shaking your whole car your system going to be shaking
I moved to Texas in 2014 and my Texas friends made me listen to the album. Diamonds and Wood is so cold! I always say “ I stopped smokin with haters back in 94” randomly 😅 When I first landed , my dad was playing Short TX from their debut album . Me and my brothers looked at eachother like “wtf is this type of shit?!” But now I know…. Country Rap Tunes 👌🏾
I've never salivated for anything relating to another man. I'm not judging you and and it must take strength to admit this. Also discouraged thinking it wasn't coming for a while? Stay proud Aaron and don't let anyone's change you! I'm sure you're an inspiration to many people struggling with their identity
Respect to u bro. U make fire vids. I'm 42 and in da UK. Camron and the dips was killing it here when this dropped. We was up on all the mixtapes shit. I got them sent ova by the box and sell them. Dipset was best sellers 4real. KILLA
The intro literally says Welcome to Purple Haze previously written in 2001. Bro lmao you can’t be doing this semi docs and not having facts. You said ‘03 the man been working on Purple Haze since 2001.
Dipset!! This is a classic. Soap Opera is my shit. Get Down is a classic too. There used to be a store here in Houston that sold all the Akademiks/Enyce/Sean John shit and they played nothing but Dipset shit in the store. Get Down reminds me of that spot cause it was playing one day I went shopping.
To me this and Come Home With Me are still his best body of work. SDE is also a classic in my opinion. I am glad Killa Season played help Cam make a massive hit again and it’s a decent album but I do believe it’s a huge step down from Purple Haze and the Jay-Z beef also overshadowed that album given You Gotta Love It is one of the last songs on that album. I feel that beef is when Dipset truly began to decline in my opinion especially after the 50 Cent beef. It’s a shame what happened to this album there’s zero skips on this what makes it better it’s a skit on every song which makes it even better.
Roll that shit, lite that shit, now smoke that shit! Now get ready for the drama bitch!!! Purple haze one of my fav albums ever💪🏽💪🏽 great time’s early 2000s
I’m only 15 mins in but you left out big part of the purple haze/dipset history not mentioning Luca brazi and the taliban he the main reason cam got out of that epic deal and he introduced cam and jim to the actual purple haze strain!
🔥 video, another amazing one This is my fav Cam'ron album all tho Come Home With Me occasionally takes that spot for me but I think I got more days where Purple Haze is my no. 1. It's a shame that they didn't credit Brian "All Day" Miller for Down & Out, I got the 10th anniversary CD of the album and they still didn't credit him smh. At least it's fixed now and is credited on streaming, the beat is hot so the man deserves his props. Also I just realized that Cam had an amazing beat selection for this album (Soap Opera, Killa Cam, etc.) My 5 fav from this album rn are: Killa Cam, Soap Opera, Down & Out, Dipset Forever and Bubble Music (I like that guitar). I love all tracks and the vibe they have but a few of my other favs are Get 'Em Girls, Harlem Streets, Get Down and Girls (that's mostly for the vibe)
I remember being 21 waiting on this Album. I brought it from a mom & pops store along with the source magazine when ja rule finally popped up after getting bodied by FiF. But I remember going on a horrible date with this female from Wagner projects here in Harlem 😂 I remember hurrying up the dinner in Sylvia’s so I could get back uptown & Vibe out to Purple Haze…. Damn these was the days I was copping jars of Haze from around 145th area. Damn go ole days but favorite songs. Killa Cam , get ‘em Daddy Tha intro Harlem streets & family ties. I have a RU-vid music subscription and I recommend that to anyone who’s a hiphophead because u can find hidden & unreleased tracks. And put albums together how they were intended to be. I have the actual sde Album with the nba logo
Cam and Dipset are underappreciated these days. yeah madvillainy is good, GRODT & College Dropout are good but younger people should recognize dipset too!
People say "Purple Haze" is a classic. I just don't see it man😏 . I prefer "Come Home With Me" and "S.D.E" over it. There are too many songs and there's no structure to the album. It feels like Cam just threw all of the songs he recorded on the album. He also continued with the flow and lyrical cadence he introduced in 2003 on the "Never Scared" remix which he still uses to this day. There are some skips on this album. But it is a great album though. I'll give it 4/5 🔥🔥
Had it dropped in 03 it definitely would have did closer to 500k first week easy. Even tho the rap game got hit was that monster storm 50 cent and g unit. Cam gave the Roc mouth to mouth they needed in a way
You were so right about long time coming. You nailed this video fam. As some who grew up in that era in NYC and kept up with everything dipset did you did a great job bro.
MoreGangstaMusic, Down n Out, Harlem Streets (to me it’s Losing Weight pt3),Family Ties, and unpopular opinion: Shake It was a banger 🤷🏾♂️. This dropped my senior year of HS. And I’m from Florida , and we were 10 toes down with the Dips. Powerful movement.
Yes!!!! Clout, I'm so glad you speaking on this classic!!!! Being in high school during Dipset reign.... THEY WERE THE IMPACT!!! Purple Haze was so big by JUST being pushed back from Nov 2003 to Dec 2004!!! After Diplomats Vol. 5, every fan was waiting on this monster... job well done Killa!!! This album dropped my 1st semester of Freshman year... when I say the whole school kept saying the Killa adlib... KILLA OWNED THAT TIME... BEFORE CARTER WEEZY!!! #dip4life 11:04 I always said this about Long Time Coming (Juelz version) but the snippet on Vol. 5 had me hype for the album!!! 13:11 OMFG I SWEAR DIAMONDS AND PEARLS SHOULD HAVE GOT CLEARED BUT PROBABLY IMPOSSIBLE DUE TO PRINCE!!!
The Dopeman was a remix of NWA Dopeman of course someone like JayZ is not going to take that becuase Jay Z was not really a street dude even though he did dress like one in the early days like around jaz o etc by the time he got to fade to black he def was not a street dude.
I use to take my big brother CD player in elementary, wearing his 4xl OSU jersey & af1s.. BLASTING ‘get it in OHIO’ on REPEAT.. My hood really his 2nd home 🤞🏾💯💯 #161NorthsideKILLAMBUSOHYDRO
It was Dec 04...a few months earlier I went to NYC for the first time and I kick myself to this day because I should have copped a mixtape version of Purple Haze that had Lord You Know on it. This album got pushed back so many times and when it finally came out the day of I got this chick's number after I got a flu shot, smashed a few times after that lol. My favorite cam album, Get Down Killa Cam Down and Out Losing Weight.Girls Soap Opera More Reasons Adrenaline Rush, Shake Take Em to Church and Get Em Girls are my Jams. Ive lost this album and bought it like 8 times
Rest on Fredricka Giles. I still have my original copy of purple haze from 2004. Did you know diplomats vol 1 was the first mixtape that came out str8 from the artist. Before 2001 they was only mixtapes that came from a dj. Shout out to Dj Kay Slay for hosting that tape. Also this was the same year he started working on Purple Haze.
classic my ass. i had this bull on rotation heavy and then one day in traffic, I've had it. I was listening to More Gangsta Music and it hit me, this cd sucks ass and i hit eject and threw the retail disc out the window. Luckily I did not get a ticket for littering
